"Lovely spacious property with everything you could possibly need."
Amazing scenery and villages to explore around Wearhead which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Not much outdoor space but an ideal base for walkers and sightseeing. We would definitely have another visit to Rockwell House.

"Rockwell House is a gem of a holiday home."
It's very rare to find such spacious accommodation with big beds AND all en suite, plus a bathroom downstairs. The house was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the equipment you need and the generous welcome pack was much appreciated. The neighbours were very friendly. There was no problem parking our two cars. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. Have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property.

"Where do three generations of family go for a good holiday - Rockwell House!"
The size of bedrooms, the quality of beds, an en-suite in each room made for great accommodation, along with the two very good sized living rooms, each with a television - and a spacious dining/kitchen area. The accommodation is clearly a winner for many needs, a group of walking or biking couples would find the area, the natural environment with its many walks and the near villages and small towns enjoyable days out. We were able to park all three of our cars in parking spaces outside the property. There is no garden but a short 10 minute walk over the bridge and down the road, leads to a children's play area and sports court. The children loved it...and so did we.

"We had a lovely stay at Rockwell."
The cottage was so roomy, we were 4 adults and 3 children and it was very comfortable. It was good that the 4 bedrooms were all en suite, plus a downstairs bathroom which was useful when it came to the kids bath time. The two lounges were also handy so the kids could play in one while we relaxed in the other. The kitchen was a delight, so much space and well stocked with lots of equipment and cupboards. The parking was fine for us as one larger car fitted in front of the cottage and the other across the road where there was enough parking.

"The house was very comfortable for 5 of us."
The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Thank for the kind hospitality we received. The property was spotless. It was a wonderful place to rest and unwind.

"We had a lovely stay at rockwell house."
It has been renovated to a very high standard, and was spotlessly clean. Good quality beds and bedding, with en suites in every room, double sized showers, even an extra bathroom downstairs. The kitchen had everything you could need, again good quality utensils, plates etc. The two lounges were comfortable with lots of space. The house itself deserves 5 stars, but I had to reduce it to 4 as there is not a lot of seating outside, just a small area at the back., and parking may be awkward for 2 or more cars, although street parking is an option. The welcome pack was generous and a nice surprise. Although access was with key code, the owner went to the trouble of calling down to welcome us, a nice touch. The area itself is superb, amazing scenery, views, and plenty of great places to visit. I would fully recommend rockwell house.

"Rockwell House is so much bigger than you expect."
Jane is a fantastic and friendly host and the welcome pack was greatly appreciated. The bedrooms with en-suite in every room is a rarity on Sykes but certainly an absolute joy to have. The whole house was immaculate and the private parking to the rear of the house made it easy to load and unload the car. The kitchen is one of the best equipped kitchens that we have had the pleasure to use and cooking a meal for eight people is absolutely no bother at all. Everything is there from plates to wines glasses, from pots to serving dishes. The nearest pub, just under 2 miles away is an easy walk down by the river and a friendly pint or two makes it all worth while. What an absolute gem of a house and we would certainly book it again if we were in the area. Thank you Jane.

"The property was very comfortable and cosy, really nice welcome by the owner leaving jam, bread, milk, eggs and butter."
The kitchen was fantastic fully equipped with utensils and the double oven was great for cooking for a large family. The bedrooms were spacious. The shower in one of the front bedrooms over filled with water every day even though it was only used once. There was no parking outside the property as one of the neighbours cars was parked outside all week, parking was limited and not good for anyone with a walking disability. I felt some of the neighbours did not welcome us parking as one car purposely parked that close I had to climb in via the passenger side. Overall we had a good week despite the parking issues.
I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and sorry you had difficulty parking. There is off street parking for 2 cars so this is usually ample parking for my guests. There is also plenty of on street parking. Property Owner

"Rockwell house is a stunning house in a beautiful part of the world."
The kitchen had everything to make a roast dinner in, bake a cake and the knives were even sharp. (Something that doesn’t happen all too often) The owner came to check everything was ok and told us if we had any issues to let her know. It was a cosy home, with everyone having their own bathroom this was excellent as everyone got privacy as well. The beds were comfortable. Unfortunately our holiday didn’t turn out as planned and my son was taken poorly and I had to leave during the night. However as my husbands parents couldn’t fit everything in the car Jane agreed to keep hold of the items and for us to come back I get them. We would highly recommend it, also think it should be rated 5 stars.

"Really lovely house, clean and comfortable and with everything we needed."
When we arrived, we found eggs, bread, tea, coffee, milk, butter and jam which were very much appreciated after a long drive. The beds were incredible, really comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend.

"On arrival we were welcomed with coffee, tea bags, sugar, bread, spread, eggs and jam."
The actual house was spotless all the way through. The kitchen had everything we needed for the seven of us. The bedrooms were really comfortable and everyone had good sized en-suites. Jane the owner was really friendly and helpful, when we did have a minor problem she sorted it so quickly.

It was clean throughout and the kitchen was well equipped. The nice addition of eggs bread spread and milk was well appreciated.

"Traditional property which has undergone a complete renovation to a high standard."
Very clean, comfortable beds, warm and cosy. Large kitchen, lots of storage, large fridge and freezer in the utility. We personally didnt find the sofas comfortable as they were too low backed. The access and parking wast ideal. Good location for exploring the area, beautiful scenery.

"The owner of the home was very friendly and helpful."
The neighbors around Rockwell House were lovely and welcoming and the house itself was to a high standard we will definitely look to go back in the future

"We stayed at Rockwell house at very short notice due to a problem with our original booking."
Sykes and the property owner were fantastic in sorting everything out to accommodate us. The property is large and very well appointed, ideal for larger groups/families. Everything was spotlessly clean and we had a very comfortable stay. The village is on the weardale way, so plenty of walking from the door, however be prepared to drive for shops, pubs etc.
-
"The welcome pack is generous especially the home made jam but be aware the nearest shop is a small co op 2 miles away."
Parking is in front of the house on the pavement. We found this unusual. Lovely neighbours very helpful.

The area is a fantastic place to explore.

"Showers were not very good It was lovely that there were enough but the fact ..."
Showers were not very good It was lovely that there were enough but the fact you couldn't run more than two at a time negated the fact there were so many
