  • "Overall we had a good holiday, we walked and cycled in fantastic scenery, the cottage had a stunning view, the beds and lounge sofas were comfortable, all appliances worked and the Wifi was very good."

It was apparent that the fittings were originally good quality, however in general they are now a bit tired, for example the cooker dials were worn away; the velux window didn't open easily and broken trim and dirt came down on opening; the kitchen worksurface varnish had degraded and was slightly sticky and the outside doors and locks were very stiff. There was no DVD player even 'though this was listed. I feel that Sykes prices overall, and this cottage, have been inflated as a result of post lockdown competition, not the value I was expecting. I think this property would suit large families/those with dogs who are relaxed about the furnishings! (We had neither.) We had a friendly welcome, and I repeat, it was comfortable and clean and had great views.

  • "Lovely cottage with everything you could need and in a beautiful area."

Very friendly and helpful neighbour too which was nice. The only thing that could improve your stay is some curtains in the bedroom windows in the master bedroom. The light would shine in through the velux windows as soon as it rose and wake us up anytime after 4.30am each morning. We were exhausted by the end of the week by being woke up so early. Such a simple change would make such a massive difference. Also some curtains in bathroom would help too. They are velux windows but I could see people walking in the field outside so not sure if they could see in too so never ventured in the shower after dark. If these were fixed the cottage would be amazing

Comfortable and homely with everything we needed. Fold Bank is tucked away in a peaceful setting with stunning views. Had some great days out which included climbing the nearby great rock of Fourstones, Lords antiques in Ingleton, White Scar caves, Hawes and the Wensleydale cheese factory, Ribblehead viaduct, Dent museum, and a wander around Kirkby Lonsdale.

Short drive into High Bentham and Ingleton where you’d find cafe, pubs, waterfalls etc. Owners were brilliant. Beautiful place overlooking the farm, full of sheep and horses. My dog found a friend with the next door neighbor (he was lovely) as he’d give her a morning treat without fail everyday. In the end she’d just wait outside his front door.

We appreciated the drawer full of mini shampoos and shower gels etc. Comfy leather sofas, efficient heating system, a good bath and shower and airy bedrooms and the views are to die for. We also really liked Charlotte, who is a very friendly and relaxed host, and her Dad, who lives next door. The farm and the villages of High and Low Bentham have a rural feel, thriving and busy. The horses, lambs and dogs are a definite plus! The eggs from Charlotte’s hens were delicious!

  • "This was our favourite family holiday to date."

Our five year old daughter loved the wide outdoor space to run around and Dora (owner’s dog) and Charlie were massive bonuses to our two week break. Remember to take a tennis ball for Dora! We explored Skipton Castle, Top Hill (Beatrix Potter’s home), completed the Top Withins walk (Brontes), Ingleton Waterfalls, Pendle Witch car trail, visited Lancester several times. We’d recommend both The Water Witch and The Borough for food and drinks. Lovely owner, Charlotte, who let us meet her chickens and horses. Holly even got to sit on one for a photo and we feed them peppermints. We were also given some fresh eggs for breakfast! Charlie (next door neighbour) was so lovely! We even took him out for a meal and to a relatively local cheese and wine shop. We have shared addresses so that we can write letters and keep in touch with him. His lifetime stories are truly fascinating to listen to! Thanks, Fold Bank, Charlotte, Charlie and Dora, for a truly unforgettable stay! We have rebooked already for two weeks next summer!

  • "Absolutely loved our stay!"

The farm is so beautiful and peaceful, the best part being the animals, which included horses, sheep, chickens and Dora the dog! My soon to be 4 year old was petrified of dogs before we went on holiday and since then hes a changed boy! Dora was so so friendly, that my little one has gone full 360 and now wants his own dog! Charles next door is so lovely too. Every day he would be over to give the kids chocolate! He took me to his vegetable patch and picked us some fresh cucumber, lettuce and potatoes. We have stayed in other cottages where the owners live on site and they have been intrusive in the past, but this time it wasnt the case at all. Literally the only negative point we could think of was that there werent blinds on 2 of the master bedroom windows, so the room would get light pretty early, but it made me make the most of my staycation! I would 100% recommend this cottage and already have been doing so!

The beds are really cosy and comfy it had an endless amount of books to read. Also the cottage is in the grounds of a farm with horses, sheep, a dog named Dora and two cats and if you ask your allowed to stroke the horses. in my opinion Connor, Firgil and Berty are the best. Sienna:- It was the best experience I've ever had because there cottage is amazing it has loads of books in and I loved the beds they were so soft and comfy there is also a farm that I loved and was always there because it was fun there’s chickens horses Dora the dog sheep it was lovely Dora was always wanting to play catch with me and she’s so adorable the horses were very nicely treated and they do not bite or kick they just lick you I loved George and Maize because they were the most harmless and they were not big like Connor and Fergal they are very chilled and there are lots of places to go nearby like my favourite which was the climbing wall which is not far away it was amazing I recommend it for you.

The photos do not do the cottage justice, Beautiful setting, great views over open countryside. Friendly and welcoming hosts, and the elderly gentleman that lives next door (the owners father) is extremely friendly and has some great tales to tell, which we enjoyed listening to. Our Labrador fell in love with him and kept disappearing in to his house, and she doesn’t take to people easily. The owners own Labrador is very friendly and paid us several visits, along with sheep and horses in the field out the back. Although it’s on a working small holding, you wouldn’t know it, as it’s very quiet and peaceful. The cottage has every thing you could want, all you need is your food. The water from their spring is lovely and soft, great for tea. We can’t recommend this place highly enough, and you won’t be disappointed.

The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you could need for a family holiday; including a well equipped kitchen and an extensive selection of books and games for the odd day where the weather may make it preferable to stay indoors. The beds are all comfortable; the kingsize bed is so comfortable that I actually slept right through several times which is unheard of at home. We have two dogs (an elderly, blind Labrador and a young Lab/Retriever cross with bundles of energy) both of whom were as at home as we were. The views from the cottage are stunning and the horses, lambs and Dora the Labrador make it an animal lovers dream. the heating was on timer and the house was very cold until the owner set the heating for all hours. Still remained quite cold particularly during the evenings substantially due to draughts from large windows whihc had no curtains or blinds. I tbhink it would be an improvement if the windows could have curtains. the lack of a central fire, log burner or electric or gas fire in the lounge area was also disappointing. Other points: TV very small for the size of the room and people in the house. Double bed mattress very soft and "roll into the middle" result. Otherwise excellent location; well equipped; lovely views.

  • "The cottage had some real positives: - The owners were friendly, especially the older gentleman who lives in the other half of the barn."

The owners are clearly relaxed about dogs and they were allowed free reign of the house and the smallholding where the barn stands. - The house is very well equipped both with plenty of equipment in the kitchen and a small library in the living room! - The superking bed is lovely and comfortable and a very spacious room, although the pillows were lumpy and the sheet on the bed had stains on that had not come out in the wash. - The view is stunning (when the mist lifts). The cottage is a wonderful place to escape from the world for a while (but also only a couple of miles from shops, pubs etc). BUT there were some downsides: - the long table with rattan chairs is an outside dining space. This is not made clear in the particulars and the photo taken makes it look like part of the house. This makes a BIG difference to the usable space in the house, especially if you have all the bedrooms filled. - the lawned areas for the cottage are not fenced in. This is an issue because the owner's dog ambles down every day and poos there. A lot. When we first arrived the owners had forgotten to check the lawn and it was littered with old dog poo. They quickly cleared it when I mentioned it, but there were poos every day, and not all the poos (old and new) were cleared up. There was also a 3-4ft drop from the lawn onto the field, without a fence. For both these reasons I would not recommend this cottage for anyone with children. The issues could be addressed by putting a fence around all the lawned areas (including the place where laundry can be hung out and which also had dog poo). - the front door locked, but not enough to remove the key. So you couldn't lock the front door when you went out of the day. We were advised the owners never lock the door as it is a safe place. But given that we had brought work papers away with us this not being able to lock the door when we went out made us very uneasy. - whilst the cottage was generally clean the bathroom was not as clean as we would like.
