  • "On entering we had cardboard box in hall and 3 large full rubbish bags plus ‘Loose’ rubbish in utility room !"

1st floor shower hadn’t been cleaned. But on whole an excellent house. We would have liked to have activated the sitting room fire as it was chilly at night but couldn’t find how to put it on A chair or stool in bathroom would be good as would a mirror over hand basin . But we would return and had great time

  • "Really lovely big house."

Love how spacious this is and the fact it has 4 big bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus a toilet. Nice little welcome touch with teas / coffee / wine (the wine always goes the extra touch!). Overall great stay here. Only thing to be improved is the WiFi is pretty shocking and tv wasn’t working well (not sure if this was to do with the internet?) but we went on a very rainy weekend and wanted to watch tv which we couldn’t.

  • "It's a lovely house."

Very well done out. Very clean. 3 floors may not have been such a good idea at our age! Lovely big bedrooms and bathrooms. Well kitted out kitchen and utility room. There were a few little things. The bin outside had not been emptied, the middle bathroom light didn't work, someone had broken the back gate wheel, kettle sometimes neede a little wiggle to work. Utility room toilet had a loose seat. There is a little step between the kitchen and passage that could do with a yellow tape or something. We all tripped up it. I went flying full length. If you're looking for scenic views and a pretty village this isn't the one for you. But if you're looking for a lovely house as a good base, it is. Not far from lots of scenery and interesting places.

  • "There is an issue with the Broadband in the property, made worse with the poor Cellular network coverage in the area."

The router would keep dropping out, Vodafone contacted me after i managed to post an issue, when out and about with cellular connection, but would not fix it because i am not the account holder and they needed to go through security. There is a problem with WiFi in the property anyway with the stone construction, I suggest the owners would be better with powerline adapters between rooms as the wireless extenders are not able to function with the metallic stone building. It was a shame as this was our only downside of the property, we just need internet access so much these days - from planning days out, checking the weather forecast to booking restaurants. Although we were not expecting to use TV's very much, one was unusable because it had an operating system fault and the other could not be used for what we needed because of the Broadband issue.

  • "The house was not very clean."

Cobwebs in corners. Dead flies and crumbs under settees. High chair very dusty. And we believed all your properties had Enhanced cleaning protocols! The backyard area had weeds growing out of the walls and windowsills and needed a sweep through. Too dirty to sit out there of an evening when the children were asleep. The sheets were very thin and bobbly but the pillowcases and duvet covers were lovely quality. The cheese grater was rusty, very unhygienic. That said we had a lovely holiday with the family. Days at the beach, park, zoo and on the steam train.

We are disappointed with the feedback and are confident the house was clean as our housekeeping team are excellent. The property is not advertised as having on outdoor seating area although it does benefit from a yard which can be used for parking. We have since purchased a new cheese grater and some new sheets. Had the guests advised us with the issues during their stay we could have sought to rectify any issues as our housekeeping team would have attended. Property Owner

Other than that everything was very clean and there was plenty utensils and crockery for our week's stay.

  • "Lovely holiday cottage, mostly very clean and a nice homely feel."

Our only suggestions was the seating arrangements in the living room arnt capable of seating the 8 people that the house is able to sleep. Neither is the fridge able to hold easily adequate amount of food for that many people too with it not being a full size fridge. And we had problems with the TV not actually working as a smart tv because it wouldn't connect to the internet. All if the above are things that would improve the holiday experience but most Definately didn't ruin it for us. Would rebook again in the future.

Thank you very much for your feedbac, we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are pleased to confirm that we have purchased new seating for the living room and we have reset the wifi router and the TV in the bedroom is now working. We look forward to you staying with us again Property Owner

  • "We stayed at Duddon House for 5 weeks."

We are local and were having work carried out at home so needed somewhere to stay in the meantime. The house was perfect. We also had to work from home and homeschool during some of our stay and this house gave us plenty of space to do this. Everything we needed was there, I would absolutely recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay in Millom.

  • "Had a beautiful few days in this lovely spacious house."

It was clean and well looked after. For those who like a good climb, The Old Man of Coniston is a gorgeous mountain with fantastic view of the mountains and lake. Haverigg playground is a lovely playground near sand and water. There are some convenient stores nearby including Co-Op, Spar and Tesco. We had an amazing holiday enjoyed by all. A pity we weren't here for longer.

  • "The house has unexpected 'wow' factor, a Victorian tardis."

Beds are super comfy and bathrooms exceptional. Plenty of room for families. Muncaster Castle and walks with views of the hills and mountains. Owl and Falcon Centre with daily displays, children's maze and play area. Train ride to Barrow in Furness was really enjoyable. Trip to Coniston with top walks. For any Laurel and Hardy fans a trip to Ulverston.

The property

This large terraced cottage rests within the Cumbrian town of Millom, with plenty of walking, cycling and coastal adventure nearby.

Just 1.5miles from the golden shingle sand of Haverigg Beach.

It is ideal for families and friends alike, offering a quality feel throughout.

Enter into the long hallway which stretches the full length of the cottage down to the modern kitchen at the rear.

To the right is the bright and airy sitting room, where you can get cosy by the gas fire and exchange stories of the day you've just had, over a hot cup of tea.

Why not prepare a tasty meal in the elegantly modern kitchen and gather in the dining room next door for those memorable evenings together.

The spacious family bathroom rests at the top of the staircase with a roll top bath taking centre stage in the middle of the room, ideal for an indulgent soak on return from a day at the beach.

There are two double bedrooms to retire to after an evening of fun and games downstairs.

The layout of the second level mirrors the floor below, with a large bathroom playing host to another bath and separate corner shower, so there's plenty of areas for everyone to get ready for the day ahead.

Another two double rooms follow, with plenty of light oozing in through the windows, bundles of character and views over the front across the green.

Close by are all the amenities of Millom town centre, with local shops, pubs and eateries, as well as the remains of its old castle.

Within walking distance there is Haverigg, a small coastal village with a beautiful Blue Flag beach.

A great place to see some spectacular sunsets.

Why not walk along the old sea wall and pass the remains of disused iron mine, which has been filled with water to create a huge lagoon.

Hodbarrow nature reserve is home to a great array of wildlife.

This is a great place for avid bird watchers as a wide range of birds call this lagoon their home.

You also have the South Lakes Safari Zoo a short drive away.

This is a splendid getaway for you and your loved ones to escape to.

About the location

MILLOM, CUMBRIA

Broughton-in-Furness 7.4 miles; Ambleside 23.8 miles

This small coastal town on the southern edges of the Lake District National Park frames the northern shores of the estuary leading to the River Duddon. Millom Museum offers an insight to its past, with a reconstruction of a drift mine lending a nod to its iron and steel works. There is also a statue in the town centre, commemorating the iron industry, depicting 'The Scutcher' who stopped the iron ore tubs with and iron bar and his own strength. This town was also home to writer Norman Nicholson, who has a stained glass window in St. George's Church dedicated to his memory, while the strange 'fish' window in the Holy Trinity Church is also worth a visit. Discover the remains of Millom Castle and travel to nearby Haverigg, with its Blue Flag beach, a restored lighthouse and children's adventure play areas, for the ideal family day out. Also find the 7 tonne sculpture ‘Escape to Light’ positioned near to the Haverigg Inshore Rescue station, constructed by Josefina de Vasconcellos to pay tribute to the Inshore Rescue Teams in the UK. Other attractions in the region include the South Lakes Safari Zoo, Black Combe for walks with stunning views and Sandscale Haws, a National Nature Reserve with an outstanding dune habitat supporting a plethora of wildlife. Further afield are the delightful towns and villages of the Lakes District such as Grizedale, Ambleside and Windermere, not forgetting the abundant walking and cycling opportunities in the area. Enjoy an adventurous break in Cumbria.
