  • "The cottage was very clean and was well equipped."

The owners were very friendly and informative. Very good location to visit other places such as Talkin Tarn, Hexham, Alston and Whitley Bay. The only discrepancy we had is that we thought that the cottage had an enclosed garden as we had 2 dogs staying with us and it would have been ideal to have an enclosed garden for them.

  • "The Hayloft is a lovely cottage - we have given it 4 stars, but with a few tweaks it would be 5*."

Furnishings are of a good quality, beds comfortable. Although the kitchen had plenty of pans, it was short of glasses - only had a few tumblers (plenty of wine glasses!!). Cups were also in short supply. Towels were too small and should have been tumble dried to make them soft. All in all, a lovely cottage and we had a great time.

  • "Beautiful location, beautiful cottage and everything needed to make it home from home."

Very clean, tidy, and very friendly people. Only drawback was when the spa became very frothy and scum built up on sides. However, told the owner and it was sorted immediately. Will definitely go back to this place. ❤️ Had a wonderful time thank you xx

The property is beautiful and the location was ideal for us to be able to explore Hadrian's wall and Talkin Tarn.

Only problem was the WIFI not working although the owner did her best.

Comfortable, clean and well appointed. Owners a pleasure and to hand and this is a Working farm. Proper people.

  • "Owners were really friendly and lovely, they showed our daughter all the farm animals and let her feed a lamb which was wonderful."

Cottage is nice but fairly small and furniture is a little dated. I’m glad we didn’t bring our large dog as there would not have been enough space and no enclosed garden.

  • "Stayed in the Hayloft."

Loved the location, loved the property. Only things that needed improving were the very bad draughts coming through the front door and the patio doors, these are an easy fix with some draught excluder strip. But there are plenty of electric storage heaters so did not feel cold at any point. The heated towel rails didn't seem to work. Apart from these small issues, I would definitely stay here again. Did not make use of the hot tub facility as the weather was awful and I didn't fancy the walk into the farm to reach it.

You do need a car to visit places as the nearest shop was a couple of miles away there is 7 cottages in total some of the others have gardens which would of made our stay perfect but we did know when we booked there was no enclosed garden but this was the only available cottage for rental. It was nice and clean our dog settled straight away. Highly recommend this cottage for a break away.

Hot tub is to share with others and although not working fully - we still used it. Only downside was we could not find any places in the evening to eat to take the dog. But we would stay again.

The owners have thought of everything and provide good quality accommodation, they are very informative about the area and made us very welcome. They even let us help with the lambing which was a pleasure. I would return to the cottage as it is perfectly located for a number of destinations all within an hour which gave us a great flavour of the area. We were able to take our dogs and this made it a great holiday Thank you

This didn't worry us as we were happy to take off each day. The property was above & beyond our expectations with a full kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Beautiful leather lounge suite and a massage chair ... Everything vey thoughtfully considered. Downstairs toilet a very handy extra as both upstairs bedrooms were en suite.

About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
