  • "Fantastic property and lovely host."

Very accommodating and responsive. Although it was summertime, the weather turned cold and we couldn’t activate the heating. We consequently burned through all of the firewood before the host could repair the heating. Perhaps adding the check of the heating system and an assuring a surplus of firewood to the pre-check in check list would help? We worked hard to leave the BBQ setup in better form than we found it (cleaner), because it was in need of attention! Otherwise, our holiday was fabulous!!!

  • "Contact with the rental company, Sykes, was almost impossible."

Their emails were marked "do not reply to this email". Their web site did not give a contact telephone number nor an email address. Poor customer relations! Contact with the owner herself was excellent, once Sykes had given me her contact details. She was able to answer all of our questions. The owner, Sarah, was lovely. Very helpful indeed. My wife left her Kindle behind and Sarah found it and posted it back to us without any hesitation. The cottage, The Long View, was magical. Really, really nice. We were there to celebrate my daughter's wedding at Gibson's Mill and the cottage coped extremely well with all of the wedding party. Even the track to the cottage, which had worried me, turned out okay. We were able to get an 18 seater minibus, a Sainsbury's delivery van, and a low slung Jaguar sports car up to the cottage without any problem! Thoroughly lovely cottage. I am recommending it to all our friends!

Thank you, Patrick, for your kind review. It was a pleasure to host you and your daughter's wedding party at The Long View Yorkshire, and we are delighted you had a such a special stay with us. Property Owner

What can I say!? The pictures of this house do not do it justice. We were made to feel super welcome by Sarah who was waiting for us on arrival. There was absolutely everything you needed for a stay and more. The hot tub was a lovely added bonus - even in the wind/rain. Walking in, we were all wow'ed by the architecture, and how big the place was. There is 2 sitting rooms, and a very large dining room which meant we were able to host feasts which went down a treat. The host Sarah was more than accommodating, and on arrival we were greeted with a lovely hamper which had some prosecco and (much needed the next morning) some coffee. The rooms were lovely, and decorated tastefully and modern. We all agreed the beds had ridiculously comfy mattresses. The hot tub was a massive win, and there was even a friendly cow that we liked talking to. Hebden Bridge itself is jam-packed with rustic bars and restaurants. Most of these were dog-friendly, so we had a great time there too.

It was perfect for the large party of ladies that I had booked for my sisters Hen Party. The kitchen and dining area was perfect for a large group, and there was plenty of room for us all in the lounge areas. The beds were super comfortable and although it rained heavily all weekend, we still made it to the hot tub outside! The views are stunning and although there is a very long rural track up to the house itself, we had no issues whatsoever booking taxis to transport the 14 of us to and from Hebden Bridge, even at 10pm on a Saturday night! I have already recommended The Long View to two other parties that are looking for Hen Party venues. It was just fantastic. We all agreed that if we won The Lottery we would buy a home just like it!

Just back from my hen weekend and everyone thought it was fantastic. Little details like welcome messages, fab amp/stereo to plug music into and the hot tub...well that was fantastic. The weather was not kind but it didn't stop us being able to enjoy the views or the facilities. The owner provided all the operating info for the Aga, hot tub and other things. She popped around to check we were happy and was extremely helpful on the run up. There is also plenty of parking. The lane up does go on longer than you might think but directions were great. Absolutely amazing. The owner is lovely too, she called round and answered any questions we had. The cottage is literally in the middle of no where but it is well worth it. The views are amazing. Roads getting to cottage are very steep and windy but again worth it once you enter the cottage. 5 bathrooms, 6 bedrooms, one huge kitchen, 3 seating areas, a beautiful log fire which was amazing. You do get wood included in the price and WiFi! There are some horses just opposite which will come and say hello to you. And the owner was only at the other end of the phone when we needed her. • "Arrived at The Long View with 14 family members over 4 generations to celebrate new year."

House layout was perfect for our needs, from the bedrooms to the various lounge areas (my grandsons designated the lower lounge as their playroom). We’d already done some homework prior to arrival so knew that the house was fairly isolated with just a pub and farm shop within a good walking distance which wasn’t a problem as we had already planned to cook everyday. We did a Sainsbury’s online order to arrive as we did, which worked perfectly. Long View was spotlessly clean, in excellent order and warm and cosy with the Aga and wood burning stoves adding to keep the house nice and warm. One of the guests has waking difficulties but used the g/f bedroom, and whilst there are a few steps down to it and up to the lounge, he managed perfectly. Hot tub was a hit with the children, (adults not up to braving the weather), the owners recommendation to bring towelling robes was a good call !! Overall we had a fantastic 5 days, Sarah the owner responded swiftly to our queries and dealt with a couple of issues straight away. We would recommend Long View definitely return,

About the location

HEPTONSTALL

Hebden Bridge 1.5 mile; Haworth 8 miles.

The village of Heptonstall is set high on a prominent hillside above its close neighbour, Hebden Bridge. Heptonstall is one of West Yorkshire's best kept secrets; a wonderfully preserved village with a main street that has changed very little in the last 200 years. Formerly an important centre for hand-loom weaving, the village still retains its original trading hall, while the old Grammar School, by the churchyard, is now a museum testifying to the village's illustrious past. The churchyard is also the burial home for the American poet, novelist & short-story writer Sylvia Plath, perhaps best known for her collections of published poems & novel "The Bell Jar". Heptonstall was a place she stayed in before & during her marriage to the poet Ted Hughes. In the centre are the two remaining pubs, the Cross Inn, believed to date from the early 17th century, and the White Lion, rumoured to be haunted by a Roundhead on a horse, a throwback to when the village was besieged during the Civil War. Nearby is the attractive town of Hebden Bridge, while the area is a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway. Skipton, the Gateway to the Dales, is an easy and scenic car ride away.
