  • "Thank you for a perfect stay at Fawber Cottage!"

The cottage had everything we needed and was really comfortable and homely. The fire in the evenings was a bonus and everything we needed to light it was provided. The kitchen and dining area was lovely and made making evening meals easy and pleasurable. The cottage is set in quiet, beautiful surroundings with a footpath leading onto the mountains right on the doorstep. Was in easy reach to many other attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back when time allows. Thank you!

  • "Fawber cottage is in a perfect location to explore the Yorkshire Dales."

The parking space was big enough for our transporter van and the rooms in the cottage itself were surprisingly spacious. It was generously equipped with all kitchen essentials and plenty of toiletries and wood for the fire and was spotlessly clean. The old fashioned decor fit the vibe of our holiday perfectly - all about the simple pleasures in life of hiking and coming back to a cottage with a lovely fire and well worn in comfy chairs!

  • "A lovely property with all amenities that are needed."

Has a lovely kitchen and very homely downstairs. Double room was nice, I shared one of the other rooms with my daughter and sadly had a problem with woodlice coming from the vent in the ceiling which was unfortunately right above my pillow were they were dropping. It is situated in a great spot for walkers and we did plenty of them ourselves. Overall we had a really good holiday and enjoyed ourselves. The cottage was nice but I feel it needs a little maintenance and upgrading in areas for the price expected to pay.

Thank you so much for your comments and I am thrilled that you liked the kitchen and you found downstairs homely. So sorry regarding the issue you had which although the property is in a rural setting, is highly unusual. Of course I will give it immediate attention and block the relevant air vent so this can never happen again. I'm sorry that I wasn't given the opportunity to help you at the time. Property Owner

  • "A delightful cottage, tucked away in the Yorkshire dales, well away from roads and noise sources."

Very quiet. Beautiful views from garden to Pen-y-Ghent. Spacious. All bed linen clean and freshly laundered. A real escape from urban life. One of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in. Be careful with shower as water leaks onto floor (being addressed as we were leaving). Park in recess to left hand side of cottage. Do not attempt to park outside front door as there is a drop in levels which could damage car wheel/cill. Check out is 9am sharp, earlier than most cottages.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad you had a lovely time. I can confirm that the shower area was addressed as soon as possible as I do like to stay on top of maintenance standards. I am pleased to report that there is now a new shower screen in place. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely fabulous."

Fantastic cottage in a perfect location. So many great walks right from the front door. The house was warm and cosy and spotlessly clean. Lashings of hot water for baths and showers after a long day out walking. There's a large kitchen-diner with a big fridge-freezer. We had a grocery delivery mid week so didn't need to go shopping. The bookshelves are very well stocked with good books. The large, well kept garden has culinary herbs growing in pots and chairs so you catch the evening sun after a hard day's walking. Logs and coal are provided which is a nice touch The Crown, the pub down the road, is the most unfriendly and unwelcoming in the UK. We went every evening just for the entertainment. Read the reviews on Trip Advisor. They're a hoot! We had a fantastic holiday at Fawber

Unfortunately, the bath/shower seemed to leak through the ceiling a little - bucket available!!! Probably the seal around the bath. Visitors need to be completely self-sufficient in terms of groceries as no shops near-by but as we read the reviews we brought everything we might need. If you want peace and quiet and a cozy little base for walking in the Dales then the cottage is ideal.

plenty of space and set in wonderfull country with lots of walking/cycling opportunities from the doorstep. limited facilities locally but everything you need not too far away. Grandkids really enjoyed the freedom despite patchy reception on their life support systems (tech), Would definitely return and would recommend to others, ideal for family or slightly bigger groups.

  • "We had a nice, comfortable and relaxed stay at Faber Cottage."

Enjoyed the coziness inside the cottage and the garden. When we come back to the Yorkshire Dales we will certainly look if Faber Cottage is free to book and stay again. Everything we need was in the house available, we only bought a new dishbrush to replace the greasy old one. Suggestion would be to do a big overall cleaning every quarter or Monthly. The surfaces where a bit dusty and sticky. The bench outside was our favorite place in the morning sun, but is at the ending of it’s live and will soon collapse. I would also replace the plastic furniture for a new less basic gardenset, for more comfort and joy. But overall we had a lovely time at Faber and would definitely recommend it.

Both the cottage and the garden are beautiful and in a lovely spot. Views of the hills and the Pen-y-Ghent are stunning. The interior is, as other visitors have described it: unspoiled and authentic. The wood stove is cosy and welcome when it gets chilly outside. There is a lot to do and visit in the area. Nearby Settle is a very nice little town for shopping. I will join the chorus of other visitors in saying that 9:00 for departure on the last day is too early, especially since at 9:00 o'clock no one showed up or seemed in a hurry to do the cleaning. In all other respects a truly wonderful experience! We hope to come again!

  • "We love coming to this Cottage as it is cosy and warm and amazingly situated for walks, with beautiful views from the garden."

We have already booked again and would definitely recommend it. Such a peaceful and relaxing spot. However the 6 p.m. check in time, which has changed since we last visited, seems a little mean giving the earlier than normal check out at 9 a.m., and is the latest check-in time we have ever had anywhere. Also it was a cold and blustery evening when we arrived and the storage heaters were nearly all turned off at the wall so we were unable to have heat from them that night. And whilst we had logs and coal and kindling (generously supplied) we did not have firelighters or newspaper or any way to light the fire so spent a very chilly first night! However these are minor niggles and when we next visit we will come prepared. Overall this is a lovely Cottage and we loved our time here and can't wait to return in September

  • "6pm check in with a 9am check out feels really unreasonable."

Never stayed anywhere with rules like that. No basics in the kitchen which you would normally find in self-catering accommodation - oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee. Nothing! Said there were fire lighters but there weren’t. Other than the house is exactly what it says, a proper Yorkshire Dales house to relax after hiking around the local area.

The new wood burner was a treat! This is the perfect location to enjoy the Dales. The garden has a great view up to Pen-Y-Ghent and the cottage is very charming. The new check out time of 9am meant that the last morning felt a bit rushed. Last time we stayed it was 10am. 9am feels a little unfair especially seeing as check in time has been moved to 6pm.

It's set in a lovely hamlet with beautiful surroundings and views of Pen-y-ghent from the back garden. It's a really nice place to sit out and stargaze after dark. The nearest pub is about 10 minutes walk down the lane and it is also warm and inviting with good food and beer. We completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks walk and it was great to have a quick soak in the bath and relax in front of the fire afterwards. As others have stated, the furnishings aren't top spec, but they are in keeping with the price to rent the cottage and we had everything we needed to prepare meals and be relaxed and comfortable. I would certainly recommend this cottage as a great base to explore this beautiful area.

We really appreciated the look of the place and the lovely prints on all the rooms. The beds were very comfortable with good quality quilt and linen. The living room is very homely and well appointed with a good selection of books. We had not expected WiFi and it was a pleasant surprise that this has now been provided. The kitchen and dining room are well equipped and catering for 6 people is very easy. We particularly appreciated the cooker which was of a high standard. The Garden is a real bonus which enhanced our holiday. A Lovely place to sit and it’s a very easy walk down to the village. For a walking holiday it’s a good location with lots of opportunities for local walks as well as access to the three peaks and the Settle to Carlisle railway line. The only downside to the house is the single bathroom which is an area that could be improved. Our group had a great holiday here and we would love to return.

Settle Hawes Dent and Kirkby Lonsdale make a nice ride out and for the adventurous plenty of caves to visit. The cottage is fascinating as so many original features and lovely and warm with electric heaters plus a coal stove and plenty of coal provided .Beds comfortable. It's a basic cottage though and if mine I'd keep the place better maintained - there are plenty of cobwebs and occupants ( more than you would expect in the country including in the wardrobes), the walls could do with a lick of paint and the gardens grass is overgrown and the sofa is so uncomfortable as to make it unusable by one of our party. They have kindly installed WiFi and it is very good. The big draw back is the ridiculous early time you have to leave and can't arrive before 6 - there is certainly not 9 hours of cleaning carried out !

The cottage is situated in the most lovely Hamlette and is surrounded by lovely countryside, Lambs and sheep (the weekend we were there). The cottage was just what we were looking for, it was super quiet, Warm and cosy to the max. the Log burner is super easy to use and is perfect for cold nights. We also used the Garden a lot and made use of the BBQ. it's a little basic charcoal one but worked well. beds were comfortable and the shower was sufficient for what was needed. my only small areas of gripes would be that the check-in time is stupid. ^pm is just too late when your paying for a whole day. it should be more like 2 pm. the check out time of 9 am is also a little annoying but not as bad as we had lots to do that day so that didn't annoy as much. We will be booking again as it's our idea of a lovely cottage, not overdone or too Live, love, Laugh which seems to be a lot of the cottages now in Yorkshire. Rob x

The cottage is in a very quiet location (really on a sheep farm) as it is about half a mile away up a lane from Horton whose pubs can be busy on bank holidays and weekends. Sykes were very good at sorting out one or two difficulties: prompt and helpful. The main drawback is that there is no local grocery shop in Horton (you need to go to Settle (about 6 miles away) or to Hawes(about 15 miles away)); so be careful not to run out of milk or bread.
