  • "Really enjoyed our stay at The Nest ( 39 The Ironworks ) the property was clean and well presented with good facilities."

The only comment we would make is that the property would benefit from a basic welcome pack of milk, bread etc. Other self catering accommodation we have stayed in usually contained a welcome pack so surprised this one didn't.

  • "A quaint apartment but I must agree with other reviews it would be very cosy with 4 or 5 people staying in this 3 bedroom accomodation."

The beds are comfortable but the living area is quite small for 4 or 5 people. The balcony overlooks in what you can see of the river but the trees block the view and a good portion of the light entering to the living space. The hallway, stairs and landing are also quite dark due to the lack of natural light. There are no instructions for any of the he equipment and the cultlery draw required a bit of a search. It would have been nice to have some milk and a bit of tea and coffee on arrival after a long journey like other properties. There is no information pack in the premises which all other properties usually have. The iron works is steeped in history and it would be nice to read about the history of the site. Being a dog owner and there being laminate flooring down stairs it would be very handy to have a mop and bucket to help keep it clean. The vacuum cleaner is battery operated and is in a holder on the wall. I assumed that the holder was wired into the mains and charged the cleaner when it was in its cradle but no, it has a separate charger and I wasn't aware of that. Another good reason to have an information folder. It's lovely to see the steam train pass by at regular intervals throughout the day. Would I stay here again? Yes I would but on this occasion it was discounted and I would not pay the full asking price.

  • "Property was exactly as described, very clean and included all the necessary amenities including a cot and toys for our toddler."

    We would definitely stay again.

  • "We really liked the apartment - it was well appointed and was very clean; however, we felt that it was not big enough for 5 people as advertised."

It had 3 bedrooms, which were fine, but the living space was not spacious enough for 5 adults. The sofa had 5 cushions seats but the corner had no leg space! There were only 4 dining chairs, and not enough room to add a 5th! The outside seating area only supplied two chairs and two footstools, again unsuitable for 5 people. This is a lovely apartment for 4 people, and we would come back, just not all 5 of us at the same time!

  • "The apartment was really lovely and the kitchen was really well stocked with all the appliances and utensils which was super useful."

My only criticism is that the oven wasn’t clean and was grease stained when we arrived. The washing machine was also full of damp towels, some of which appeared to have mould on. But apart from that, the apartment was stunning, great location, and super comfy

Thank you for your feedback. Please accept our apologies about the oven and the towels. Lakelovers manages the clean on behalf of the owners. We have checked with the cleaner and it was an oversight and should not happen again. I am glad to see you had a great holiday at The Nest. Lakelovers Management Team Property Owner

  • "What a lovely place to stay."

The Nest was perfect location to visit our son in Lancaster and visit Windermere and Kendal. The bedrooms were very well presented, with comfortable beds and lots of sockets. WiFi access was easy and an excellent connection. On arrival the property was spotlessly clean (very reassuring in these Covid times) with all surfaces dust free. The only minor point to make is that we found the sofa a little uncomfortable. However, this is the minor niggle. All in all an excellent venue to visit the Lakes. We’d love to return.

  • "We did enjoy our stay, very happy with the high standard of the property, very pleased to find that not only a smart tv and free wifi, but also a playstation which the children enjoyed having the use of, pack of playing cards and various games also a nice touch."

Thank you for your feed back, and we are glad to see you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

About the location

NEWBY BRIDGE

Bowness-on-Windermere 8 miles.

The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.
