  • "A very pleasant Cottage in a quiet Scenic location with friendly, pleasant owners."

All and more of the required utilities. Only fault is the weak WiFi connection which is only minor and shower could have had more power.

  • "Very dim living room with poorly placed lighting."

All the lighting was very dim as well. Whole of the living area smelled of oil from the central heating boiler in the kitchen. Shower was very poor. No pressure.

  • "Overall a very comfortable cottage and a good place to stay."

Friendly and helpful owners, but we had difficulty finding the cottage at first. The description seems to be slightly outdated. It would be very helpful if you could add the coordinates. They are as follows: 54°35'05.0"N 2°38'09.4"W

Lovely walks. You need to drive to local pubs etc but that was only a short drive and it is in the write up. Very nice place and would definatly go again.

  • "Phone can ONLY be used across the road, not in the cottage."

Limited internet available. Weather was perfect for the whole week. Is a surcharge payable ? The owner was always around to talk and listen to any needs, information or even a hammer. A car is needed for the area = narrow roads made for walkers?

  • "We had a lovely holiday."

..just the break we needed. The bed was comfortable, everywhere was clean and the owner was very friendly. The kitchen had a freezer as well as a fridge, which was useful, because with being under Covid restrictions, we took a lot of food with us, so we had plenty of storage. The only reason I have given 9 out of 10 is because the electric lighting is very dim, but otherwise, everything was fine.

The charming old village of Newby sits in a secluded location in the Eden Valley, between the northern Pennines and the Lake District. Newby, with its better-known neighbours of Appleby and Penrith, is surrounded by lovely rolling landscapes and is often described as having a special, unchanging beauty. The village itself is surrounded by open fields, supporting cattle, sheep and horses. The nearby market town of Penrith offers a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a cinema and swimming baths. Why not visit the Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith, or nearby Lowther Castle Gardens and Bird of Prey Centre? Ullswater, with frequent cruises from Pooley Bridge, is eight miles away or you may like to visit Appleby, famous for its annual horse fair and a stop on the Settle-Carlisle railway.
