  • "We would highly recommend staying here at high rigg."

First of all the place is just so beautiful it really makes you appreciate life and the world we live in. It's idyllic, the wildlife is amazing. Upon arrival we had prossecco in the fridge along with the most delicious shepards pie you would have ever tasted. The huts are just perfect kitted out with everything you need, the hot tub had lights and 2 jet settings, on a night time there was lights all around the hut it was so romantic. Hats off to the owners you have created a wonderful escape for those who need to slow down, take a breather and rejuvenate. We can not wait to return!

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Shepherds Sunrise, beautiful place and really nice people."

The hut was lovely, well equipped with everything you need and the wood fire was great in the evening after a soak in the hot tub. Beautiful view overlooking the pond, great views all round. The night sky was amazing for star gazing, and there’s a lovely country pub half a mile away, food was really good. We will most definitely be back.

  • "We had a fantastic 3 night stay with our dog."

Brilliant clean facilities with everything you need. The autumnal weather and rain didn’t matter as the hot tub was undercover and the radiator keeps the hut really warm. There was a log fire too but we didn’t need it. Bed was really comfy too. The perfect get away for that rural feel with a gorgeous view of the pond. If you do venture out there’s a great pub down the road with amazing food too. The shepherds pie and bottle of fizz in the fridge was an added bonus. Be prepared that there is no internet or service there so you really get that “off grid” feel. We will definitely be back!

The only thing missing was a wardrobe !!. The lodge and hot tub were fantastic. The pub half a mile away was friendly and served lovely food. The shepherd's pie in the fridge was the best I've ever eaten !!. Our last day we travelled half an hour to Ullswater lake and had a motorboat ride and nice lunch. Definitely recommend our stay. A big thankyou

The shepherd's hut was just perfect for 2 with everything that we needed for our stay, with a gorgeous view over the pond and a sunny decking though out the day, the hut had heating and a log fire but this was not needed as it was so warm, the bed was so comfy that we slept all night, the dressing gowns and slippers was a lovely touch to use while using the hot tub which was perfect after a long walk, the hosts made us feel so welcome first of all by leaving a home-made shepherd's pie (which was delicious) and a bottle of fizz on our arrival and secondly by introducing himself on our 2 day and even offered to clean the bbq after we had just used it, we will definitely be going back

The hot tub was nice and warm and so relaxing I could not stay out of it, and the fairy lighting makes it a romantic retreat although I enjoyed the break by myself the tranquil surroundings were gorgeous I sat and watched a red sky sunset one night. On the last night I had the pleasure of meeting Lola the farm cat she is gorgeous very friendly with a super cute meow we sat and chilled together. About the location

BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
