  • "Fantastic stay When we arrived it was self check in so easy which was good as we arrived after work."

It was lovely and clean on arrival. We were blown away by all the little touches like dog blankets, towels, bowls, and treats for the dogs we didn't use them as we brought our own but great if you needed them. Their was a gown for each guest and even teddies and water bottles for children. The hottub was the highlight of our stay. It's not far from Penrith which we drove to for the day. It's on a quiet site if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of work, we had a relaxing stay, thanks to the owners always quick to respond with any queries Thanks Allison,David, Ruby&Peggy

  • "We have received an email stating that we left a headboard damaged that we will receive pictures of."

We would like to dispute this and are quite definite that no damage was caused by us. While we enjoyed the holiday and had a great time we definitely left the caravan cleaner than it was on arrival. We were also left feeling very uncomfortable on arrival with whatever situation is going on with the neighbour and changed passcodes. We had not been notified prior to our arrival that the code had been changed and when we called the owner about being unable to gain access she became annoyed that she had to hang up her previous call to answer ours. She then stated that she would not give us the new passcode until we told the neighbour, who was trying to assist us, to leave. While there is no way the owner could have foreseen this, we did run out of gas on the last night and as it clearly stated in her email she was not available after 10pm, we where left with a cold night and cold showers in the morning. We had a great holiday and the caravan was nice and we would not have highlighted any of the above normally and just put it down to experience however we have been left now with a negative feeling towards it all.

I am so sorry to hear that but I had no issue with the neighbours that's a holiday rental . I have photos I can send if you require . The key code gets changed someone's just so we are secure our guests are protected . Our reviews speak for them selves But thank you for telling us we will check it over everything is new and the headboard was clearly damaged by the hairdryer no other guests had been in . I suggest if you go on holiday again you call Sykes as cleaning is our top priority Glad you enjoyed your stay . The caravan is mine and I would never be rude to anyone . It's not in my interest . Everything was brand new recently . There are clear instructions in the guest book how to change the gas bottle over . So no reason to be cold at all . There is a fire and hot water bottles . There is a 24 hour warden on site . Property Owner

ARMATHWAITE

Carlisle 10.2 miles; Penrith 11 miles; North Pennines AONB 11.3 miles.

The attractive, unspoilt rural village of Armathwaite is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District, Eden Valley and the lovely coastline of the Solway Firth. The village has two old pubs, both with popular restaurants serving excellent food, a village Post Office and a traditional village shop. The River Eden runs through the centre of the village, and the area is renowned for its excellent salmon fishing, plus walking, canoeing and climbing. Armathwaite Castle, by the river, is a four-storey Pele Tower, and the 15th-century church has fine examples of stained glass windows. The Eden Gorge, between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is one of Cumbria's best-kept secrets, and is well worth exploring. The local railway station is a stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and where today many old steam trains still wend their way through some of the finest countryside in Britain. The Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith is the "largest grass covered building in the country" or you might like to visit Dalemain Historic House, featured in a television production of Jane Eyre. The town is within reach of the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, providing guests with many mountain biking, hiking, and birdwatching opportunities.
