  • "We've been to loads of cottages over the years and I don't think any come close in terms of location."

Stunning views, spacious and comfortable cottage, 2 pubs and a shop within a short walk, and a footpath at the end of the garden! So many lovely locations within short drives, and two breweries - heaven! The only things which would have improved it in my opinion were a few more cushions for the couch, a couple of lamps for softer lighting in the lounge, blinds on some of the windows and a cheese grater! I'm splitting hairs though - this is our favourite cottage ever!

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay and that Bridge End Cottage is your favourite so far. We really appreciate your helpful suggestions — we actually have some extra cushions arriving this coming week, and we’ll look into adding the other little touches you mentioned too. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Property Owner

Fabulous views from all the windows. Very friendly locals. The prosecco and biscuits was a nice touch. Coffee on the patio was most enjoyable. Support was kindly on hand by the friendly owners Phil & Sam.

  • "We recently stayed at Bridge End Cottage for a week, using it as a base to travel around Northumberland county, the national park and coast."

The cottage is cosy, clean and well-stocked with all of the items you would need during a short stay. It is situated in a beautiful location overlooking the river North Tyne and the local village of Wark is also lovely, which has a couple of shops, a great café and restaurant/pub. The owner kindly left us a bottle of prosecco in the fridge which was greatly appreciated! Communication was great throughout, we received messages after booking which included relevant information about the cottage and local area, and also advised us how to access the property when we arrived. Overall we had a lovely stay, we would definitely return and would recommend to anyone looking for a holiday cottage on the doorstep of Northumberland national park.

  • "This was a very comfortable cottage, recently modernised within a lovely rural village."

Situated right on the riverbank, lovely views and fantastic sounds of the river. Great local walks and a good base to enjoy the outdoors. We visited Kielder Water and Forrest, Hadrian's Wall, Rothbury & Simonside, Linn Falls in Bellingham, Heritage Centre and Tea on the train at the old station there. We also had a day in Newcastle upon Tyne which was under an hour's drive.

  • "We had a great week at Bridge End Cottage."

The patio overlooking the Tyne is great. Cottage is small but well equipped, with very friendly local owners. Handy local shop and excellent food and beer at Battlesteads hotel around the corner. Great location for Hadrians Wall and Roman forts and most of the North East, though a long drive to Bamburgh and Lindisfarne. Parking space is a bit tight but it's easy to park at the front of the cottage. Overall we highly recommend Bridge End.

  • "Fantastic property."

Well equipped and a brilliant location on the edge of the village. We loved our breakfasts on the sunny patio, watching the heron and swifts on the river. The cottage is clean and beautifully decorated. The owner has obviously taken great pride. Great local pubs and cafe. Well situated for Hexham, Corbridge, Fielder, Bellingham etc. Couldn't he asked for more really!

  • "The cottage is well placed in Northumberland for getting about in a lovely village with a one stop shop, post office, pub and tearoom."

The cottage itself is sat high on the edge of the river Tyne with a beautiful view from all windows but from a beautiful terrace that leads from the beautifully done kitchen that is very well equipped! The whole of the cottage has been extremely well done and is very well maintained by the owners and very clean. It's a real home from home with everything you would need for your stay. The decor throughout is lovely, the bedrooms are comfortable with white crisp bedlinen. We didn't want to leave and were privileged to have had the opportunity to stay at Bridgend. The owners are very hospitable and very friendly and ensure a good holiday for their guests. We will return and can't wait.

  • "High quality accommodation in a perfect setting."

Recently renovated cottage done to a very high standard. The village of Wark is lovely, and without exception the locals were sooooo friendly - it is true what they say about the further north you go.... Loads to do in the area: the village itself has great walks alongside the river - handy for dogs. Excellent local facilities - Battlesteads Hotel with very good restaurant, The Grey Bull within stumbling distance, a fab cafe (we had breakfast there twice), and a local shop. In such a small village this seems almost excessive! Great location for exploring Northumberland about half way between Hadrian's Wall and Kielder Water. The coast is a bit of a schlep from there, but worth the effort. Doesn't quite make 5* - could do with a bit more furniture - more seating in lounge, bigger dining table if 3-4 people staying, lacks 1 bedside table - patio area not secure for dogs and small children. But that's nit picking - go there - it's brilliant!
