    “The place wasn't very clean!”

    Under the cushions on the settee's was covered in dog hairs and dust (as I am allergic to dogs and dust not very good at all) we did ring the number on the printout for the property and the cleaners did come out the next day and cleaned. Also most of the curtains were hanging off the rails and did not close properly!

Also most of the curtains were hanging off the rails and did not close properly! Overall the property was in a lovely spot on the edge of the lake let down by poor cleanliness and shoddy fittings!

Tucked away in the South Lakeland Leisure Village in Carnforth, Lancashire, is this fantastic lodge, 12 Gressingham.

All-ground-floor and sleeping up to six guests, 12 Gressingham is perfect for a relaxing getaway, boasting on-site facilities and easy access to the surrounding areas of Capernwray and the Lake District National Park.

Park up in one of two convenient parking spaces right outside the property, before unloading your bags and stepping into your new home-away-from-home.

Be welcomed into the open-plan living space with kitchen, dining and sitting area, here you can look forward to conjuring up delicious meals for your guests, as they open a bottle of fizz and set the table.

Tuck-in to a hearty meal at the dining table as you discuss plans for the days ahead and toast to a wonderful holiday.

After dinner, retreat to the plush leather sofas, where you can relax with your favourite tipple and enjoy your favourite film on the TV.

Pour in the bubbles and indulge in a hot soak in the bath after a long day of exploring, paired with your favourite book so you can unwind completely.

As your eyes grow heavy, retire to one of three tastefully decorated bedrooms to catch your rest, two doubles, one with en-suite shower room, and a twin.

Step back in time with a visit to Carnforth’s Station which is also a heritage site filled with interesting railway memorabilia, an exhibition dedicated to the director of David Lean, as the site featured in the famous film, Brief Encounter, a gift shop and a café.

In the summer months, you can enjoy taking to the waters on a canal boat and enjoy a relaxing cruise whilst taking in your beautiful surroundings.

Nearby is the magnificent Leighton Hall Estate, a superb 13th-century stately home where you can tour the interiors of the home, as well as its vibrant gardens, finishing off with a visit to the onsite tearoom for coffee and cake.

Just a short drive away is the delightful seaside town of Morecambe, where you can take a leisurely stroll along the expansive promenade or The Stone Jetty, both of which offer exceptional sweeping views of the bay and beyond, take your pick of beaches, where you can enjoy a paddle in the waters, beachcombing the shores or laying out your towels to savour fresh fish and chips.

12 Gressingham is within incredibly easy access to the Lake District National Park, where you can enjoy a wealth of activity, from scenic walking trails, boat cruises and cycling to dark skies and stargazing, there truly is something for everyone to enjoy.

Capernwray 2.4 miles; Lake District 20 miles

Located just off the M6 and 20 miles south of the scenic Lake District, Carnforth is the sort of place that everyone has heard of, and many desire to discover this hidden gem. Situated at the north end of Morecambe Bay, north of the historic town of Lancaster, 15 miles from the winding lanes of the Yorkshire Dales and a hop and a skip from the Lake District, it is close to absolutely everywhere! Other local attractions include Greenlands Farm Village for crafts, local produce, a play area, café and a garden centre. The lovely area just north of Carnforth has tidal sands bordering the huge expanse of Morecambe Bay. It offers plenty of pleasant walks and opportunity to see local birds and wildlife in this fabulous area of Lancashire. Don't forget to visit the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
