  • "The site and the cottage met our expectations and trhe COVID precautions seemed to be working well."

(IMPORTANT COMMENTS FOLLOW) We found only one downside as Pooley Bridge is still closed to traffic would it not be a good idea to update the directions to get to the site as you cannot get to it via the directions shown and given on the confirmation paperwork. The only way to the site now if go off of the A66 after Egmont Bridge abd follow the road to Tirral which is on a no through road that does go to the site, Pooley Bridge Village and the end of Ullswater Lake.

  • "Due to the current climate we were concerned about cleanliness- it was excellent and even gave cleaning pack."

From the moment we arrived everyone was so friendly and helpful. The site is a real family affair and we loved it. The Swiss style lodge with large covered balcony can be used in all weather and we would certainly return.

Check in is late (1600hrs?) and check out is excessively early (1000hrs).

About the location

Penrith 6 miles.

The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Pooley Bridge is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
