  • "The photographs don't do it justice!"

We had a wonderful stay. It was a great base to explore from and cosy to come back to. Everything we needed and more. The views, garden were breath-taking. The cake, wine, little soaps were very welcome touches. The fire was laid ready, another thoughtful touch especially as we'd had a very long journey. We were so impressed we've already re-booked to return for our February break. Highly recommend.

The cooker needs a professional clean, full of grease and the pans to put in the oven needed throwing out. The tv needs a good clean on the screen it was terrible. Other than that the owner was lovely and left some lovely cake and flowers and the wine was great. Still had nice break and the weather was kind to us.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your stay at 2 Redeswood Cottages we are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, the welcome pack and that the weather was kind to you. I'm very sorry that on this occasion the cottage failed to meet our normal high standards. I will now also recommend to others. Cosy and homely. Basics and luxuries provided, including fresh flowers, was really nice and appreciated. It was like staying in a friend's home rather than rented house. Bumped into Lesley the owner a couple of times and I felt like I belonged in the village for the short time I was there. The woodland in the grounds was jaw droppingly fantastic. I'm pleased all that part of the grounds is not included in the photos on the website, as the joy of discovering and walking through that part with my anxious dog able to investigate off lead safely will always stay with me.

Clean, comfortable and cosy. Fully equipped kitchen made self catering so easy, however plenty of choices to eat out in Bellingham and beyond. The garden was a joy to explore, however having 2 mini Houdini dogs not fully secure so they had to be fully supervised outside. We put out a wildlife cam and caught a badger visiting the garden on several occasions, and the sheep and horses in the surrounding fields made it a lovely rural retreat.

Good location for nearby attractions, walks and eateries with everything you need available in Bellingham. Tasty lemon drizzle cake and a bottle of Prosecco were waiting for us on arrival and the cottage was well stocked with essentials, the eco friendly boiler kept us cosy, with the log fire adding extra warmth and ambience. Bed was incredibly comfy. Lesley (the owner) called round immediately when we couldn’t close the dishwasher door ( easily resolved with the correct technique!) Friendly horses in the adjoining field. We all ( including the dog) had a great time, would definitely visit again.

The cake, fizz, flowers and handmade soap were lovely touches - thank you. Beds were very comfortable, and having 2 3-seater sofas was perfect for 4 adults. Being just outside Bellingham meant it was very peaceful, whilst being within walking distance of the town (although not at night in autumn/winter, due to no footpath on the road). Because of time of year we arrived in dark. Second turn off to Redesmouth hiddeninhedge. So you need to state that there is first one turning to cottage and then another in Bellingham itself. when you get there you need to state drive is hidden. Past farm and then a first cottage. The cottage is the second one. We drove up wrong drive. I think you also a need to take better photos of the position of the cottage. Particularly showing t he wonderful view down to the River. We were very lucky with the weather for the time of year, and when we weren't out walking and sightseeing, we spent many hours sat in the garden admiring the fabulous views. On a couple of our walks at the river we watched salmon and trout jumping - great to watch. Also, the horse was lovely and friendly - he would come for walks with us around the paddock with the dogs, who were a bit scared the first time he did it, but after that they just ignored him I would say the only downside was the lack of a lock on the upstairs bathroom door, but apart from that it was perfect

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, William does like to have someone to make a fuss of him! I will remedy the lock on the bathroom door, can't think why I didn't think to put one on! many thanks Lesley Property Owner

The cottage was lovely, comfortable and clean and the welcome pack of a cake, milk and wine was a real treat. There were fresh flowers in the kitchen and living room and the views were glorious. The pretty garden highlight was a path up to an old railway bridge and a short walk to a little spinney with a bench overlooking the Rede valley. Bellingham was a short drive away, handy for shopping, a post office and a cash machine at the Co-Op. It is a twenty minute drive to Kielder and about an hour to the coast, so ideal for getting about. There is a riverside walk if you have dogs, as we do, but otherwise it is not ideal due to the narrow road outside which leads to Bellingham. We found it easy to relax here with plenty to of sights to visit and explore nearby when we were feeling energetic. We only planned a short break on this occasion but would be very happy to stay longer if we have the opportunity in future.

  • "The cottage was beautifully appointed, comfortable and felt immediately very welcoming (there were also teas, coffee, milk, cake and a bottle of fizz awaiting us on arrival) with everything we needed for the three of us to have a very relaxing holiday."

The garden was interesting to explore, on several levels, with it's own bridge over a disused railway leading from the back garden to a little wooded area, places to sit and admire the views from the front garden, and you could walk in the adjacent fields from the cottage and across the road down to the river. The owners left great information about the local area, saying that they lived just a short distance away if we needed anything, which we didn't as from our point of view they had pretty much thought of everything! The village just a mile away was very convenient for shopping with a small supermarket, bakers, cafes, takeaway etc and the location we found to be generally excellent as a base to explore, with plenty to do within easy reach - we would certainly like to return, both to the area and the cottage.
