The walks from the door are brilliant, whether along the river or up on the hills. We are able to leave our car parked and just enjoy the stunning surrounding scenery. We love The George pub, a mile walk along the river footpath. Thank you.

The location can’t be beaten great views from the cottage we were lucky to have heavy snow so it made it even more perfect. The cottage itself was amazing. The main things were the fire was the best we have had bigger and easy to use and the kitchen was the best equipped. The walks around the area are stunning. If you want peace and quiet with lovely walks and views then this cottage is perfect.

Hi Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Those views are fabulous and so envious that you had snow too. Our aim is to make our cottage as cosy and welcoming as possible. It's pretty special out in the garden in the summer too!! Property Owner

The limited space is well organised with a mezzanine dining area and comfortable sitting room below. We found the heating system easy to use and were warm and cosy. Although the double bedroom was somewhat tight, the shower room and utility area was great for sorting our dog out. It is accessible from a path that runs to the side of the property so you don't have to go through the house. The surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful. The only negative we found was it felt rather cluttered with lots of ornaments considering its size however this is just our personal taste and didn't spoil our stay.

A few more stairs than the listing implied, so we had to supervise our older dog when she went up and down. The garden was very dog-friendly and led straight out onto a path for morning walks along the river. Other than that it's a lovely cottage and perfect for our holiday in the Dales.

  • "Nuthatch cottage is a characterful property in a perfect location, private car parking and lovely views."

Bed and settees were clean and comfortable with attractive soft furnishings. Cutlery, crockery and cooking/cleaning accessories were plentiful and decent quality. On reflection, for us, a warm weather visit would have been better than a cold, wet one. The cottage was cold through the day unless we lit the log burner - at our own expense after the the first use. The heaters are electric ones timed to get the property warm to get up to and to come on again at 4pm until late and although there are instructions as to how to operate them they are not clear so we didn’t try to change the settings in case we knocked it off completely. Hot water was also limited, that would have been a problem had there been more than the two of us wanting to get ready at the same time. We wouldn’t rule out a summer visit, to enjoy the spacious garden and summer house.

Hi So sorry that you were uncomfortable with the temperature. I really wish you had called me for help if you couldn't work the radiators as we can control remotely for you. We try to leave an extra supply of logs if you're stuck, but on this occasion, as I had explained in my text to you, the logs had been completely used up. Thank you for your feedback, we really do appreciate it and glad everything else was good for you. Jude Property Owner

  • "The cottage is a lovely little cottage and is very well equipped."

The only problems is that the bedrooms especially the lower one and bathrooms smelt foisty. The clothes that we took all smelt when we got home. The radiators are electric and were set on a timer and weren’t on enough to keep the cottage warm. They did provide a fan heater so we had to put that on in the bedroom a few times. Could have been abit cleaner too. But the cottage is lovely and in a lovely area and could be fantastic if these issues were resolved.

Thank you for your comments. We haven't had feedback about a foisty smell before and will definitely look into it. Truly sorry it wasnt warm enough at times; the radiators can be controlled by our guests and there is a booklet provided with instructions on how to control the timing and temperature. The weather has been so warm for autumn it has been difficult to know what setting is best. Glad you liked the cottage and the area. Feedback is always appreciated. Jude Property Owner

  • "We stayed in Nuthatch cottage from 8/10/22 -15/10/22."

When we arrived every thing seemed just as it was on the website. However we found the glass from the wood burner door was on top of the stove not in the door. My husband managed to put it back so that we could light a fire as the cottage was cold. The owner did call and advised me that his cleaner had told him about the stove but we could use it as an open fire until he was in the area on Wednesday as he didn’t live locally. He called again to ask us to move our cars from the allotted parking spaces as treefellers would need the space and as no one was in the Coach house we could use there parking space. When we did this a note was put through the door when we were out telling us the space was strictly for the coach house and not to use it again. It wasn’t signed. The cottage was cold heating was set to 7degs during the day 3 degs lower than outside. The wall heater in the shower room didn’t work, the heated airer didn’t work, there is no path to get to the back of the cottage so muddy dog had to be carried from the front door through bedroom to shower room to be rinsed. On Thursday 13/10/22 the glass fell out of the burner door and broke. We tried to use the burner as an open fire but it filled the place with smoke so had to be put out. Other people have found it to be a cosy place, we didn’t. Was so looking forward to going to the So many little things wrong spoiled it for us. Won’t be returning to Nuthatch again.

  • "Lots to like-a tiny cottage that is very thoughtfully equipped, tastefully presented and in a stunning location."

It’s rather tardis like as it looks minute from the front but opens up inside and the owners have really made the most of it. Some minor quibbles but all in all fantastic.Thick large towels -but could we have two per person? I suggest that if you cook a lot you take extra dishcloths (there was only one plus a brush and scourer),an apron and rubber gloves as they’re not provided and pans don’t go in the dishwasher. The rest was perfect…attention to detail was lovely and much appreciated. Some of the great things: having a bathroom and a shower room, plentiful high quality crockery, appliances and utensils. No need to fish them out of the dishwasher because you’ve run out! Hooks on doors for hanging clothes and towels, a place for boots, cosy table lamps, comfy sofas with side tables and cosy throws for chilly times, a full size dining table, drawers for clothes, wardrobes with hangers (many cottages fall down on this to my amazement),very comfortable beds with lovely smooth bedlinen, medical stuff such as sun lotion and insect repellent, binoculars, bird feeders and bird food -frequent sightings of a great spotted woodpecker among other visitors to the garden-a map, handy parking, sockets near mirrors, a garden with a washing line, furniture and fantastic views, local information, a quirky old fashioned shop and a large pub right on the doorstep in this beautiful tiny village. Several gorgeous old fashioned pubs within walking distance (a few miles)ideal for refreshment after a day on the fells -but do book as they are very popular. The area is outstandingly beautiful, both the villages and the natural environment are exceptional. The cottage owner was speedy and most helpful in response to my queries before arrival and arranged for summer weight duvets to replace the winter ones as I requested. This transformed our stay as we could sleep comfortably throughout -most owners don’t do this so thank you, Jude. All in all a glorious return to my home county after many many years. Highly recommended. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Thank you for your good, and helpful, feedback. We love the place too, which is why we like our guests to have an enjoyable stay. We will add an apron on our next visit. Regards Jude and Phil Property Owner

The garden is lovely to sit in if you want to put your feet up for a while. It gets the sun all day, and has a little sun room as well. As mentioned in the listing, check if your dog may be able to get out, as mine did chasing pheasants (once) but a long tether solved that problem. Very minor point was the shower over the bath is very weak, but there is a shower room as well. Overall, highly recommended.

Thank you for all your feedback. Glad you enjoyed it. I have checked the shower. It is fine as long as the flow setting is left on "High". Property Owner

2 of us with 2 family members joining us (just for a few nights). Well stocked with cleaning materials such as washing up liq, dw tabs, washing tabs, bin liners, etc. Games and books, even a welcome bottle of wine!..very nice touch. Peanuts for the bird feeder and logs for the log burner. A beautiful garden and summer house which we we're unable to use because of the weather this time, but it would be lovely to return in summer to BBQ and enjoy the outdoor space. Cottage well positioned for all the walks you need if you don't fancy venturing out in the car. Couple of miles walk you'll come across the house/farm where 'all creatures great and small' was filmed! A pub with great food in every hamlet..no shortage of those, although fab cooking facilities at the cottage. Highly recommend the local pork pies and the Wenslydale creamery a few miles drive where you can have lunch also. Skipton is worth a visit for castle, shops and cafes. We loved the Yorkshire Dales and will definately return! Thanks to the cottage owners who have obviously put a lot of love and care into the property xx

The only downside was the hot water and shower over the bath. There was not enough hot water for a bath and was tepid at best, despite using the boost function as advised in the welcome pack. The over bath shower had no pressure and went from hot to cold meaning we could only use the shower in the utility room which was freezing cold. After a long walk in the hills, at this time of year especially, warmth and a long hot bath would have been very welcome. Apart from this issue, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay but sorry that you had problems with the showers. We were comfortable and relaxed with our two dogs and loved coming back to the lovely warm cottage after long walks and spent most evenings infront of the TV with the log burner going which made it extra cosy especially with the colder weather while we were here! • "The worst thing, and this will stop us revisiting, is the need to access the back door through the bedroom."

The cottage was also difficult to keep warm even in mild weather. I think this was due to the open plan design and how the storage heaters were set up. Fittings and equipment were very good. Beds were comfortable, too many cushions cluttering up the small room. We were 2 adults + 2 dogs. The cottage would have been far too small if there had been 4 of us. Overall OK but would not recommend without reservations particularly to dog owners who don't want dogs going through the bedroom. Our dogs are normally banned from bedrooms anyway.

Many thanks for your feedback and we will make the layout clearer on the advert. We had new heaters installed two weeks ago which can be individually controlled. They are default set to eco, but the temperature on them can be changed via the digital settings on each heater and we will leave instructions on how to do this in a more obvious place. The property also has a log burner. We have put cushions on the beds for guest comfort as the headboard is metal, but if not required they can be stored in the drawers under the bed, as can the throws. The size of the property is reflected in the pictures and does accommodate 4 people. We are glad that you found the beds comfy and appreciated the fittings and equipment. Property Owner
