  • "We were all delighted with the property."

The beds were beautifully presented and comfortable. Maybe a chair could have added to the convenience? In the down side the waste bins were overflowing and there were no facilities for recycling. We had to use those in the car park by the beach The previous guests had complained about a plumbing problem which put the toilet in the master suite out of commission. This was inconvenient to say the least. This problem was not addressed during our stay. The hot tub was a great success.

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased that you had a great time. In Cumbria there is no recycling for commercial properties as we have queried this , and we have been told that it is sorted at the depot. It was unfortunate that the previous guest only reported an issue with the toilet when they left, but it has now been repaired. Thank you again for your comments Property Owner

  • "Lovely building in an ideal location."

Everthing you could possibly need is catered for. 5 minute walk to the beach where most of the coastal walks start, providing beautiful scenery. We particularly enjoyed the use of the pool table and large screen. 5 minute drive to the start of Whitehaven parkrun. Would definitely return.

  • "The property is very big and we had lots of room for all of us."

The kitchen was well stocked with all utensils and crockery etc. for a large group. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and very well furnished apart from one on the ground floor next to the kitchen, Unfortunately as with any old property this particular bedroom was quite draughty, had noise from the gas meter that was 'housed' in this room as well as quite a lot of 'messy' cables due to it also having the main internet connections in this room. On arrival at the property the internet was not working which in turn meant there was no TV reception. The hosts responded immediately and it was rectified early the following morning, The hot-tub was a lovely addition and was great for relaxing in after a long day. Unfortunately after 4 days it did need some chemicals but we had a mix up in communication with the hosts so this did not get rectified, which left us without the hot-tub for the last couple of days.. The Pool table as well as table-tennis was well received by the children and adults alike. All in all we enjoyed a lovely family holiday but it is an old property and as such there were areas that showed the age of the house and contents, i.e. dampness seen on the staircase from the kitchen to the TV Room as well as in one bathroom, some windows were unable to be opened, and the cooker needed some attention due to some broken controls. I think it just needs updating in some areas to make it the perfect 'get away' for friends or family..

Hi, Sheralyn! Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We do apologize for the inconvenience the internet connection and the hot tub incident might cause you during your stay. We'll improve these amenities and will consider updating the rooms to make them brighter for our future guests. Thank you again for choosing us as your vacation property, we're hoping we'll host you again and you'll have a better experience. Cheers! UK-Breaks Property Owner

  • "Very clean, spacious farm house."

Not always easy to find somewhere for a family of 15 + a dog, and this was perfect, from number of bedrooms, to seating, space - we can’t fault it! Beds were really comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Loved the big screen in the upstairs living/dining space and also having the hot tub and pool table which were added bonuses to add to a fun, family weekend. Only 10 minute walk away from the beach, perfect location to start the coast to coast walk in St Bees. We’re already looking to stay again! Thank you :)

Hello, Miss Kelly! We're so glad that you found our farmhouse lovely. We see to it that we provide the best experience to our guests by keeping all the basic needs available in the house so you will feel at home. Looking forward to hosting you again! All the best, UK-Breaks Property Owner

  • "Our party of 15 stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate my 50th birthday."

From the pictures and description on the website the property looked nice and big and it was well listed. However, when we arrived we were all absolutely blown away by how amazing this property is. Every bedroom was spotless clean and the beds and bedding were really comfortable and dressed so nice with throws for added comfort and luxury. The rooms are all beautifully furnished. The kitchen has everything needed to cater for a large group, with lots of pots, pans, glasses, even cleaning materials and the AGA is such a feature and adds to the character. The party room upstairs is amazing with a huge projector with streaming services available. There are bean bags and enough seating to create such a wonderful relaxing space with views across to the abbey. The pool table is also a fantastic feature and between the kitchen, games room and party room it made for such a memorable stay. There is a nice garden with a huge hot tub, although we didn’t use that. The age range of our group was between 18 to 58 and everyone has said they loved it and we’re already agreeing dates for a visit back next year. It’s also worth mentioning we had Sunday lunch in The Manor which was gorgeous and the staff were very friendly. St. Bees is a lovely village anyway but Abbey-farm house has absolutely everything you need to make you stay here a very memorable one and a place you’ll want to return to time and again. Thank you to the host for making this more then just a property, Abbey farm house is a luxurious, comfortable, relaxing and amazing home that will give anyone who stays here amazing memories!!

Thank you very much Jason for taking the time to write comprehensive feedback. We put value in everything that we do so that all our guests will have a memorable and fun experience in staying at the Abbey Farmhouse. We look forward to being your host again soon and we wish you good health and more birthdays to come. Cheers! Property Owner

Very Clean, beds very comfy and very spacious. The House had everything that we needed. There were 3 pubs in the village. We had a lovely meal in The Manor. We managed a few coastal walks. We had Sunday Lunch in the Dog and Partridge in the nearby village of Sandwith (2 miles from the Abbey House). An Excellent weekend.

  • "The property was very easy to find with the given directions."

When we arrived all was very clean and presented well. Unfortunately this is where the compliments end. We quickly realised that the AGA oven did not work at all and there was no hot water to the kitchen. So I called Sykes to have this rectified ASAP. There response was fast. They contacted the landlord and he had a plumber out the following afternoon. However, whilst at the property the plumber called the landlord as the hot water had started to come through a few hours into the second day. He advised the hot water situation has rectified itself but the AGA oven is still not working. The landlord said there is a second oven and apologised to the plumber and sent him in his way, leaving us with only one small oven to cater for 16 people our entire stay. Not easy! Later that evening after we cooked the food we went up to the party room (amazing room BTW) for fun and games. After a few hours we headed back down to the kitchen to be met with the strongest smell of gas! After a little investigation we realised that one of the knobs on the one remaining working oven was broken and although turned to the off position was leaking gas. We rectified this ourselves by removing the broken knob and turning the pin underneath to the off position ourself. I'd like to say it got better from there.... at 9:45 at night, I received a text message from the landlord himself, informing me that we was been to loud and could we be quiet, and that he had received some complaints from the neighbours (a text message I chose to ignore, given that we had rented a party house for a 30th birthday party and it was only 9:45) rest assured the noise an music was turned down by 11pm. As per the law! It gets worse...... at 8am the following morning(Sunday morning), we was woken up with a knock at the door.... it was 2 tradesmen.... informing us that we couldn't let our dogs out in the garden as they had to BUILD a hot tub stand and had to use power tools. FYI... we had no prior warning about this at all. The next 2 hours we had a circular saw a drills going off! Not sure how many complaints the landlord received about this..... he didn't message me about that one.
