  • "Absolutely fantastic lodge, exceptionally clean and really comfortable."

The lodge is well equipped with everything you need for a your stay. It is on a quiet site which is well maintained, plenty to do in the local area which makes it a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. I would highly recommend a stay in the lodge, great for rest and relaxation.

  • "The pictures shown looks like it's a holiday home on its own with plenty of ..."

The pictures shown looks like it's a holiday home on its own with plenty of space but it is on a busy site with a play field for children in hears Reach of shouting and noise the home is rough around the edges with rusty radiator in the bathroom toilet button missing carpets looked like been pulled up and not put back down correctly paint around the top looked not finished and then for the mattress in main room is total passed its best on the first night it was very hard to sleep at all so got more duvets from other beds to try make them better but still no better for second night and we ended up in the single beds which we did again on the last night which was not acceptable when we had gone away for a nice weekend together to be sleeping apart on Sunday morning we rang sykes and was a complete waste of time as all they said was they would pass our complaint on to the owners which were not in the uk and asked if it was just our personal preference on the mattress or was it past it which it was I would not stay again there or use sykes again for any holidays

It is only fair that we can provide a response to these comments considering we have received over 70 guests in the last few years. Clearly this negative review began with a complaint about a firm mattress during a three night stay. We are not in a position to swap out mattresses to suit individual needs as such we were fully expecting this review before it even arrived. However, we are dumbfounded by some of the comments. Firstly the photos of the lodge are not photoshopped, the views from the decking are real and you can clearly see there are other lodges nearby in many of the photos provided. We do not state the lodge is in private grounds in fact the very first line states it is on a holiday park. Secondly we can only apologise profusely that you experienced children on a holiday park during your stay, sadly this is something out of our control as it is a family friendly park. The park is also pet friendly if there are concerns about experiencing animals as well. I am not sure on the resolution you were expecting regarding the mattress you state is past its best. The mattress is not even one year old. Granted you may have found it to be too firm however, we have had many guests who have not experienced any problems with the bedding. As for the rust on the radiator, this observation is correct and is something we will look at painting in the future so I apologise this ruined your stay. We have received many emails from happy guests who have stayed in the lodge for weeks at a time and whilst we welcome all feedback, positive and negative we feel this is a negative attack on our property due to your feelings towards a mattress. • "A lovely tidy home from home!"

It didn’t smell the freshest to me though - my husband didn’t notice it but I’m wondering if maybe pets were once allowed and the smell has lingered? Nothing a plug in wouldn’t solve :) we appreciated the welcome basket and note from the owners but were disappointed to learn the home cooked authentic Thai food advertised in the welcome note/pack wasn’t available as the owners were away. Perhaps don’t include that info if you’re not there in future. A peaceful well kept site but the pub lacked atmosphere and nothing else onsite or close enough to walk to as far as we could make out. We were very blessed with the weather however and had some fab days out - Malham Cove and Bolton Abbey, both approx 20-30 mins by car. All in all a successful trip and pleasant property. Would definitely choose somewhere with wifi in future though!

Thank you Amy for taking the time to leave a review. Whilst I explained a few of the points to yourself I will reiterate for the benefit of those that may read this. We do not provide Wifi and the lodge is not advertised with this facility. We have tried installing Wifi previously however, the company Bowland Fell uses does not deliver on performance and as such we had it removed on the feedback of guests who explained it was unworkable. The lodge is now advertised as pet free, however, we had some legacy bookings prior to the rule change and we did not think it was fair to cancel these. As of November the lodge will be pet free. Your suggestion regarding plug ins has been taken on board and have been placed in the lodge as of today. Regarding the food, my wife is a nurse by profession with a passion for cooking in her spare time. Since she decided to make a menu in August she has served over 100 meals to guests of the lodge, with one family in particular ordering 4 nights out of a 7 night stay. Unfortunately, despite the warm feedback we received personally, none of these comments ever reached this site. It is saddening the only reference to my wife’s food is regarding a stay where her work commitments made it impossible to be at home to cook fresh food. With that in mind we have decided to remove this option from the lodge. Thanks again for the feedback and we are glad you had a good time Property Owner

  • "No baking trays or roasting trays to enable to use in the oven so couldn't cook a meal on the first night."

We went and purchased some the following day.Tried to contact owner via phone & text never received a response so had to contact Sykes, they reported owner was in Canada and he admitted items had been going missing. Missing furniture (settee) from decking and the metal furniture was old and rusty. Decking was filthy, had to clean this.Stains on carpet throughout accommodation. Magazines left were well over a year old and torn. A dead flower in a glass was left on kitchen window sill. Vet prescribed medication dated 31.12.21 left under kitchen sink. Blind in the lounge window broken and could not open it.Shower in the en-suite, door was loose and wouldn't shut fully, someone came to repair but this wasn't resolved because as soon as you went to close the door it came off the runner again, extractor fan didn't work in this bathroom either. The welcome pack had a loaf of bread, this was out of date and when opened it, it was mouldy. No toilet roll was left, just one roll would have been thoughtful, no bath mat so had to use a towl in the bath to ensure we didn't slip. .Majority of the cooking utensils needed to be washed along with the old/very used 3 pans as all were sticky/tacky. There were over 14 plastic bowls but nothing to enable you to cook a meal in the oven. We were very disappointed and shocked at the lack of cleaning/cleanliness, items to enable you to self cater, missing decking furniture, old magazines, dead flowers, vet medication, why has the accommodation not been cleaned fully and an inventory completed to ensure our holiday there was a good experience. This holiday was supposed to be a relaxing stay before my husband has a major operation, unfortunately this was not achieved as we paid good money to the owner for a substandard stay in an accommodation which isn't what it states it is. We hope that he has resolved these issues for the next people who stay there as it could be lovely and the setting on Bowland Fell is lovely. I have emailed Sykes our complaints and still waiting for a response.

  • "Enjoyed our stay after a few niggles but quickly sorted by the owner."

Comfy bed, plenty of towels, iron, ironing board highchair, and travel cot. The wardrobes are fully stocked with hangers too. Would have liked a coffee table to put a cup of tea on but we got by without it. The freezer has three large draws so you can be stocked up for your stay. The fridge is next to it and also very spacious. Shop on-site that sells essentials I.E tea coffee sugar washing up liquid but no bread. The nearest shop is in Settle which is Booths but very expensive. Pub on-site serves food swimming pool is £3 per swim or a week family ticket for around £35. There is building work on-site as new development is in progress but noise is minimal.

I would certainly recommend this property to anyone. The only thing missing was a coffee table. What are you supposed to do if you have a drink in your hand when you sit down? Also lack of Christmas decorations but we took our own.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

It was lovely and peaceful, great spot on the park with good views. It was lovely and clean, cosy and well equipped Single beds not as comfy as the really comfy double. The welcome pack was lovely and thoughtful, thank you. Plenty of towels provided. Great place to explore the area from. Missed the Wi-Fi that was in the description when we booked but we were told well before our visit it wouldn’t be available, so was aware, but would have been nice to have, especially when the nights draw in for more entertainment options the majority of people are used to. Mobile signal was good though. The water went off one morning, as we were leaving for a day out it wasn’t a really a problem and was back on by the time we returned. The on site pub was good to visit, very limited menu but food was hot and promptly served. Park was tidy and well kept. We would love to visit again.

The holiday lodge was very spacious, everything was in good working order and of good quality. Extremely clean with attention to detail. The outside verandah was excellent with quality outdoor furniture and had outside lights as well. This holiday lodge is very well positioned for open view across the site to the fields opposite. A wonderful week here.
