Longwell Cottage is a stunning semi-detached character property built from local stone and located on a working farm within easy reach of Kendal in the Lake District.

On entering Longwell Cottage, you'll find the original court cupboard dating from the 17th century in the hallway, before you enter the extremely spacious farmhouse kitchen.

This superb room really is the heart of the home with its wooden dining table and Aga, just perfect for kitchen suppers using the finest local ingredients.

Through the kitchen one way is the sitting room with log burner, and from here you climb an oak staircase to a smaller mezzanine sitting area that makes the most of those breathtaking views.

There's also a door out to a lovely, secluded terrace: just perfect for settling down with a good book or watching the sunset over the Howgills.

Back through the sitting room, there's a ground floor bedroom with twin beds and a separate shower room with separate basin and WC.

Up a second 17th century staircase, you'll find two further double king-size bedrooms one with zip/link beds which can be arranged as a twin room on request, and the spacious family bathroom with corner bath, separate shower, washbasin and WC.

The property has been sympathetically modernised to a very high standard but still retains a lovely characterful feel with all the modern comforts you could wish for.

In addition to the beautiful flagstone patio at the front of Longwell Cottage, there's the secluded and private second terrace and garden which is the perfect spot for some 'me time' with a glass of wine or a family meal alfresco.

Situated 6 miles north of the nearby market town of Kendal, Selside is an area in the rolling foothills of the Shap fells with its own church and village hall. Used as a holiday base, Selside is within easy driving distance to the breathtaking Lake District via Windermere for the South Lakes or Penrith for the North Lakes. The Western Yorkshire Dales are also just a short, lovely drive away via the town of Sedburgh. The nearby town of Kendal (sometimes known as the Gateway to the Lakes), offers a wide variety of pubs and restaurants with the Brewery Arts Centre offering live entertainment and cinema, as well as excellent dining experiences. Selside also offers beautiful and peaceful countryside walks with inspiring views especially towards the Howgill Fells, known locally as the "sleeping elephants".
