It jumped out at us on the photographs and it didn't disappoint. The quirky decor, choice of artwork and finishing touches made us smile. This is one of the best equipped kitchens in properties we have stayed in - full set of sharp knives, pots and pans, cooking utensils, cafetiere, herbs & spices, tea, coffee & milk - 10/10! The owners have also provided books, dvds and boardgames. There is lots to do in and around the area. Scaleber force is within walking distance if you fancy an uphill challenge. Parking is limited but you can buy a weekly ticket for the car park opposite for £15. Settle is a lovely village and a great base for visiting both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

The property

Woodstock Cottage is a quirky mid-terrace cottage resting in the market town of Settle.

Set over three floors and sleeping up to four guests, this stylish cottage is a great setting for your next trip to North Yorkshire, within easy reach of Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

You are welcomed to the property by an open-plan living space, with beams and wooden flooring throughout, as well as an exposed brick wall hosting a woodburning stove, which adds warmth to the room whether you are enjoying an evening in front of the television, preparing a picnic in the kitchen area, or gathering around the dining table to toast to a wonderful holiday.

Moving upstairs there is a spacious landing with a chaise longue, making for a great place to read a book, with an inviting double bedroom further along home to a traditional dressing table, a feature fireplace and plenty of wardrobe space for those guests who slightly over pack.

Also, on the first-floor, there is an eccentric yet contemporary wooden bathroom, with the choice to relax in the bath, freshen up in the shower or use the mirror to get yourself ready for an evening out.

To finish the property, you climb up the stairs into the second bedroom which has exposed bricks and beams, as well as sloped eaves, making a really captivating twin bedroom with an extra arm chair and some storage space for any personal belongings.

The cottage is set in the heart of the beautiful town of Settle, nestled amongst all its treasures including the oldest music hall in the country the fabulous Victoria Hall, an historic three-storey building known as The Shambles (a colourful history), the Grade II listed Town Hall, a museum, an art gallery, a great selection of good restaurants and pubs for those evenings out, and a public swimming pool.

On Tuesdays, Settle hosts a market day where the square hosts stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods, and also in Settle is the famous railway which runs from the town itself to Carlisle, crossing some of the most picturesque scenery in England.

Settle is lucky enough to be resting on the south west edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which means you have easy access to some gorgeous natural attractions such as the amazing White Scar Cave ( longest show cave in England), Malham Cove, Gaping Gill, Janet's Foss (enchanting waterfall behind which the angels dance) and Gordale Scar, as well as plenty of walking ( The famous 3 peaks are Settle’s biggest attraction) and cycling trails throughout the Dales and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A short driveaway is the town of Skipton which is thriving with shops, pubs and eateries, as well as a museum and art gallery, and the medieval Skipton Castle which is almost intact medieval with a dungeon, kitchen and bedchamber that visitors can tour around.

For a stunning trip to North Yorkshire, choose Woodstock Cottage as your stylish base.
