Two minutes walk to the village shops (inc well stocked co-op and great Indian restaurant). Close to other properties but there wasn't really anyone else about so was fine. Good communication from owners. Parking on the street was no problem. Cottage was very clean and the main room great for cooking whilst socialising! Enjoyed our stay.

The cottage is beautifully presented and very clean. There are many great walks from the door step. Further afield Ingleton Waterfalls are well worth a visit. We also took the train to Grange over Sands, there is a lovely promenade walk and mouth watering tea rooms. I can highly recommend a stay at The Hideaway.

The Silverdale Hotel serves amazing food and the staff are friendly and helpful. Communication with Rachel was fantastic and she messaged to check everything was ok a couple of times during our stay. • "This is a lovely & different location, one probably missed by many who just head straight to the Lakes."

Lots of easy walking through mixed woodland or along coastal paths, although large expanses of mudflats without the sea or waves do take a little getting used to. It seems a quiet, friendly place, with a sense of community. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped.

There was all the things we needed and plenty of space. We weee blessed with great weather and was pleased the outside seating area and garden had the sun most of the day as well as some shady spots. The local area was great for walks, and shops and pubs near by was handy too. We loved walking on the waterfront and looking out at the views. Lots of things to do and see near by in a 30 minute drive including the lakes. The host was helpful and contactable if needed, we found ourselves relaxed and at ease in their lovely cottage.

We spent quite a bit of time inside, due to the current circumstances, and always felt that we had space to enjoy and relax. The WiFi is excellent, so we could watch and listen to whatever we wanted. Silverdale is a beautiful place and the Hideaway is excellently located. There were loads of great walks nearby. We used one of the books from the cottage for route recommendations. The Hideaway is also just near the Silverdale Hotel, which we went to on a couple of evenings. The welcome was warm and the food was excellent.

The cottage is very comfortable and well supplied with household equipment except in the kitchen, where there is an eclectic mix of cookware including a steamer insert but no base, two individual saucepan lids not fitting either saucepan provided and a split colander, but plenty of oven trays etc. Whilst this made cooking an interesting challenge it did not spoil the holiday as there are three restaurants near by!

The Hideaway really is a home away from home with all the required essentials and bags of character. • "The cottage was beautiful and tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard."

Modern yet in keeping with the rustic charm of the cottage. It was very comfortable and cosy with the log burner of an evening, and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need. The area was delightful with the convenience of a co-op shop, a welcoming bistro style pub as well as a more traditional pub / bar which is part of the hotel. There was also a coffee shop. There are many lovely walks locally and we would recommend walking to 'Jenny Browns Point', the scenery is stunning, and stopping off at 'Wolf House Gallery' to browse the work of the local artist and maybe have a bite to eat. All in all a very pleasant and relaxing holiday that we'd highly recommend.

The property

This immaculately-presented, detached cottage is tucked away in the heart of the coastal village of Silverdale, located on the shores of Morecambe Bay in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This stunning cottage, formerly a cobbler’s workshop, is aptly named as you would never know it existed from the road, yet it is spacious, quirky and is beautifully presented to complement the old and the new.

The well-equipped open plan kitchen, with a range cooker has a wall of original brickwork and underfloor heating and opens to a double height with beams.

There is comfortable settee seating to the dining area with French doors to the garden.

This is not the only recreational space as there is also a stylish lounge with woodburning stove, complete with a corner sofa to sit and relax on when a cosy night in is required.

The bedrooms are spacious and light; one has a vanity area and the other has an en-suite together with French doors leading to a super large private balcony.

Outside there is a covered veranda, patios, table and chairs and a sun house, all perfect to enjoy an alfresco meal in this sheltered peaceful private rockery garden or plan your day’s activities over a morning drink.

You have many walks from the door in this beautiful area.

Follow the coast and cliffs along the shore to Jenny Brown’s Point sitting on the elevated giant stone bench on route, whilst enjoying the views of the expanse of the estuary or maybe watch the tide sweep over the sands.

Locally there is the Wolf House Gallery showcasing local artists, with studios and a café serving delicious fare, or pop across the road to the farm and sample the home-made ice cream and free range eggs.

Birdwatchers will delight at the variety of birds and wildlife at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, only a mile away, where you can see deer, otters and rare birds, and from where you can walk through the grounds of Leighton Hall and over to Warton Crag.

Why not walk to Eaves Wood to see the limestone pavement and The Pepperpot?

Arnside itself has a bustling promenade with café and local pubs serving local and award-winning ales, and has the local infamous fish and chip shop you can sample for supper.

You can hop on a train from Silverdale to Arnside and over the Kent viaduct in less than a 15 minute journey to the elegant Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands.

This area is a walker’s delight but also there is wonderful cycling and the family-friendly Bay Cycle Way which starts from Morecambe Bay and runs all the way through to Barrow, winds along the coast.

Although there is much to see locally, Hideaway Cottage is also well-placed to easily explore the stunning Lake District making this wonderful cottage an ideal location year round.
