  • "The owner was very pleasant and helpful,he even received our Tesco order for us as we didn't get to the cottage it time for it's arrival ."

The cottage itself was very comfortable and well equipped .There was a beautiful victoria sandwich in the kitchen on our arrival which tasted as good as it looks .The pub about a mile away ,The Brown Cow served lovely food at reasonable prices .The portions were huge and the staff were great .We were a party if 10 and there was plenty of room for us all at the dining table .Probably only enough seating for 10 in the lounge ,but there were chairs in the bedrooms and dining chairs which could be used if there had been 12 of us .I would definitely recommend staying in this lovely cottage .

  • "We really enjoyed out time at Millwood Lodge."

Its a perfect accommodation if you have several families coming together as there is an en-suite for each room. I do think the check out time is a little early and cuts your break short so an additional hour would be ideal to allow a more relaxed departure. Id say 5 of the 6 rooms were lovely but one could do with a bit of TLC as its a tad dated/tired compared to others. We had good comms from the owner at points but some messages remained not responded to which is a shame as one was asking how we rebook for next year with them. This is honestly the perfect booking for several families to come together for a few day/nights with out feeling on top of one another and I would say its a great booking for 12 persons young or old.

It did help the weather was kind to us, when the weather was good we were able to sit outside and use the BBQ also the table in the orangery/conservatory was big enough for us when the weather did turn on the last night. All the bedrooms were comfy and worked well for us and the kitchen was well stocked with crockery, cutlery and pots & pans. If we were to go back to the area we would not hesitate to rebook Millwood Lodge.

With 6 bedrooms, all unsuite, there is never a queue for the bathroom. Lovely conservatory to eat in and a very spacious lounge. Our one very minor complaint would be that the sofas in the lounge possibly need updating. TVs everywhere so no arguments there. Closed in garden and situated on a very quiet and little used road. Superb kitchen. Lovely Victoria Sponge waiting for us on our arrival too. Really nice touch. We all agreed we will return next year.

Lounge nice layout, the sofas although they looked nice were not terribly comfortable. Fabulous conservatory, a great place to dine. Couple of small things - a bit more cutlery/utensils and spare toilet rolls in each of the well appointed bathrooms. TV in every room was good as some of us wanted to watch ‘Strictly’ and some of us didn’t. Overall excellent cottage and would thoroughly recommend. Hosts were there on arrival but otherwise left us alone. Lovely cake left for us as well which was a nice surprise.

We booked a stay to celebrate my 'special' birthday and to say that the accommodation made the celebration more special is no understatement. The house is so comfortable and cosy whilst there is plenty room for everyone. So much effort has gone in to every detail throughout the house and every bedroom felt like the master suite. Sitting round that fantastic table in the evening, in the company of my best friends will stay with me forever. I would (and have) recommended Millwood Lodge to lots of people already and I only hope I get the chance to return soon (and not have to wait for 10 more years until my next milestone!!)

We traveled over 91 miles to the lodge and now in 2023 it is something the owner will get more of. Most cars are electric or will soon be elctric. The fact that we paid close to 2k for the weekend just seemed ridiculous that there was an issue with owner over this. Funny how after the owner noticed this the plug socket outside stopped working

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry we did not come up to your expectations, we do all the cleaning and linen changing ourselves so we give special attention to the points mentioned With the issue of charging an electric vehicle we do not offer this facility for travelling expenses, we do not supply Diesel or Petrol either for your other vehicles, it does state in the terms and conditions about charging electric vehicles. You did have our contact number so could have contacted us and we could come to an arrangement to accommodate you. With regard to the socket stopping working "this did not happen", the socket is on a ring circuit so you would have lost power throughout the property, (checked by an electrician). Once again we thank you for the feedback. Property Owner

  • "We booked Millwood Lodge on the understanding that there was a ground floor bedroom for one of our family members."

When we arrived that was not the case. There was one step down to one of the rooms plus a step down into the en-suite. The other two downstairs bedrooms were up three steps. The rooms were damp and lacked ventilation so condensation was a huge issue, our clothes were damp when they came out of the wardrobes if the room had a wardrobe or cupboard. Some had just hooks on the wall. Kitchen was missing some utensils and the cafeteria was broken. The oven temperature gauge wasn’t correct so cooking times took longer. There was nowhere for muddy boots and wet coats to hang to dry after our walks. The lounge was not big enough for all of us to sit comfortably together. We had a nice stay but would not go back.

Hello Karen, we are so very sorry that you had an unpleasant experience at the property. We spoke to you on the second day of your booking and on other occasions asking if all was well and to contact us if there were any problems. The only telephone contact from you was on the Saturday when there was a blocked gutter which we rectified immediately. We have had people calling us prior to their stay asking about access when they have someone with mobility problems, at which point we mention the two steps into the property, two steps up to the two rooms on the right and the one step down to the other bedroom on that floor. There are no rooms with three steps leading up to them. We will work with Sykes to ensure that the steps are noted in the description as transparently as possible. We have not had any damp issues, all rooms have opening windows for ventilation, and we encourage all guests to air the rooms where possible. With regard to the oven temperature gauge, we will install a thermometer in it to ensure it always works at the correct temperature. If you had mentioned the utensils and cafetiere we would have replaced them immediately. We will of course look into the point you have raised relating to the muddy boots and wet coat storage. Had you informed us of any issues you were experiencing, we would have done our very best to help you, as quickly as possible. Kind regards, David & Caroline Property Owner

We all got our own rooms with bathrooms and the dining area in the conservatory was superb for us all to eat around and play games. The kitchen facilities were also good, plenty of space to prepare meals for a large group. The bedrooms are lovely and clean with their own bathrooms. The lounge was comfortable but my 80 year old mum would have preferred a more supportive furniture for her back. The different levels on the ground floor are done very well, but might be difficult for someone with mobility issues. I loved all the artwork on the walls, as it gives the place a homely feeling. The hosts went above and beyond, with an amazing cake on arrival and a fan left for us during the week as the weather was hot. The enclosed garden was beautiful to sit in and great for our dog.
