  • “This is a gem of a cottage!”

It is beautifully furnished and finished, with everything we needed. The kitchen has more than enough crockery and cutlery with great appliances made cooking easy. The beds are comfortable and having two en-suite bathrooms is a bonus. Parking is secure and off road and the outside courtyard is a genuine sun trap! We really enjoyed coming back to the cottage each evening. ...

The beds are comfortable and having two en-suite bathrooms is a bonus. Parking is secure and off road and the outside courtyard is a genuine sun trap! We really enjoyed coming back to the cottage each evening. In terms of location, there are lots of lovely walks from the front door - and there's a pub which does food across the road! We really couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you!!

About the location

STARBOTTON

Kettlewell & Buckden 2 miles; Grassington 12 miles.

Nestling in the Upper Wharfedale Valley between Kettlewell and Buckden, this idyllic National Park village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned - an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking areas in the Dales, with The Dales Way passing nearby, good access to Buckden Pike and gentle walks along the riverbanks. The village itself comprises a cluster of stone-built cottages and houses with, at its centre, the wonderful 'Fox and Hounds' pub serving great ales and fine food. No surprise that the hit movie 'Calendar Girls' was filmed nearby and in other locations throughout the area. An excellent base for enjoying the famous dales, historic market towns, caves and waterfalls of this magical area.
