The property is well equipped with everything that you need and is immaculate throughout. The owners are on hand if you should need them and are so very friendly, with nothing being too much trouble. The property is located in a very peaceful area with superb views and lovely walks and cycle routes. Areas of interest are located within a short drive away such as the lake district and Bowland area of outstanding natural beauty. This is a real gem of a place with privacy guaranteed. We've already booked to return next year. Thanks for a lovely stay. Lesley & Steve

  • "The description on the website did not make clear the layout of the facility."

We found it quite strange to walk straight into the bedroom, and also the fact the wet room/bathroom was located at the other end of the property from the bedroom, meaning you had to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. There was very little storage space for clothes etc due to the fact that every drawer seemed full of games etc, we felt the quality of the bedding was not good, and there was not enough room in the kitchen cupboards to store food. Only one toilet roll supplied, and we had to ask for extra, no soap in the bathroom, and the kitchen taps were loose and dirty. To finish on a high note the weather was good, and the hot tub enjoyed.

Cath and Dave are lovely people, always there when you need them, but not breating down your neck. The cottage is well equiped and we found the hot tub a god send, when our muscles were aching, and it was lovely to lay back in the warm water on dark cloudless nights, and look at the stars. I have already recommended this property, and will gladly look into booking again, next time we are in the area

The cottage was spacious and comfortable and we hope to return. Fantastic wet room! The location is great - countryside but you don't have to negotiate extremely narrow lanes to get there. Also, it turned out to be ideally situated for our birdwatching hobby, being close to various river estuaries, the coast and nature reserves.

Owners live across the road in this pretty little hamlet of a few houses, so close enough to assist and offer local info etc but still plenty of privacy to enjoy sitting out and looking across the field. Luxurious wetroom, large, comfortable bed and very nice to have comfortable dining chairs at the table.

From the moment you get there you feel on holiday as it's so restful and peaceful. The garden furniture is located near to a hot tub where you can enjoy the view. The owner's sometimes have their horses grazing there, or their sheep. But even if the field is empty you might you may catch a glimpse of a hard or rabbit, or watch the bird life. The owner's are lovely people, very helpful and have lots of knowledge of the area. They can give you advice on good walking routes and many other things. They are very approachable and helpful and have supplied the cottage with many board games and books for wetter days. We have been four or five times and will go back again as soon as it's possible. It's a great place to unwind.

The cottage is in a country area, with Zwartble sheep in the field beside the cottage and we enjoyed watching the swallows - we found the area quiet and peaceful, with the occasional sound of chickens, sheep and cows in the background. The small town of Knott End is about 4 miles away and from there you can get to Fleetwood by a 35 passenger ferry. The roads in that part of Lancashire aren't great so we did a lot of walking - Morecambe Bay is about 1 mile away as is the Lancashire Coastal Way. The property

This detached, stone-built cottage is situated in its own private grounds, on the edge of the historic village of Pilling, just a twenty-minute walk to the sea and 15 miles from Blackpool.

The current owners have converted the old byre (cow shed) into this outstanding, single-storey eco-friendy home.

It includes an inflatable outdoor hot tub which is available in the spring and summer months and is perfect for a romantic holiday, or just for those wishing to get away from it all and relax.

Boasting a contemporary design, the open plan living features luxurious underfloor heating, powered by a ground source heating system and solar panels.

It also features exposed ceiling beams and little extra touches that all go together to provide a memorable holiday.

The spacious open plan sleeping/living area is bright and airy thanks to a large picture window, while a super king-size bed and a cosy sitting area with a gas-fired stove provide a lovely, romantic space for unwinding.

The spacious kitchen/diner is connected through a large archway and leads to a lovely snug area, with ramped access and where large patio doors overlook the rear courtyard.

Stylish throughout, with every care being taken by the owners to provide a truly outstanding holiday home, there is also a fabulous wet room with a freestanding bath.

Outside, a spacious patio provides the backdrop for a luxurious hot tub, where guests can sit and enjoy a well-earned soak and reminisce about the day’s adventures.

The owners, who live just across the lane in the farmhouse, have a range of animals on the adjoining pasture land, including horses, pigs and Dexter cows.

There's also a chicken coop located by the holiday cottage, so that guests can help themselves to fresh eggs!

Pilling is a small village, with the odd shop and a pub, whilst there is an excellent selection of local markets, independent shops, traditional pubs and renowned restaurants all within a short drive.

The seaside resort of Blackpool is easy to reach, where you will find the Blackpool Tower, The Opera House and the world-famous Pleasure Beach and illuminations.

Visit Freeport Fleetwood, the outlet shopping village, as well as the more tranquil town of Lytham St Annes, home of the Royal Lytham golf course.

Within an hour’s drive to the north is the Lake District, where you can find many designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

About the location

PILLING

Lancaster; Blackpool 15 miles; Morecambe 15 miles; Kendal 33 miles.

Pilling is a small, peaceful village within the borough of Wyre in Lancashire, only six miles northeast of Poulton-le-Fylde and three miles from Knott End-on-Sea. This ancient settlement was founded on what was essentially an island, with the sea on one side and marsh on the others. In 1808, Pilling Windmill was built, operating up until the 1940’s and restored to its former glory in 2007, and the local pottery offers a refurbished cafe and art gallery. In addition, Pilling has a country pub serving food and the Springfield House Hotel and Restaurant is close by. Nearby, Knott End-on-Sea has a range of shops and restaurants located across the Wyre Estuary from Fleetwood. Although there is a no through road and to get there you must pass through neighbouring Preesall, the village is in fact the main commercial centre for the Over Wyre area. As well as a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, Knott End-on-Sea has its own pub, The Bourne Arms, as well as a bank and an 18-hole golf course, which welcomes visitors. Buses run regularly from Knott End to Blackpool, Garstang and Lancaster, and there is also a seasonal, three-minute ferry crossing to Fleetwood. Just over six miles away, the historic market town of Poulton-le-Fylde is a charming place full of cobbled streets, unusual shops and ancient sights. Traditionally, agriculture was the main industry in the area and records show that a market has been held in Poulton-Le-Fylde since at least 1348. This tradition continues to this day, with a farmers' market held every fourth Saturday. The area has something to suit all tastes; there are country and beach walks suitable for all abilities, with Pilling and Morecambe Bay being very popular with birdwatchers.
