“General cleanliness was ok but attention to detail was poor when you looked closer.”

Down the side of bend side cabinets dusty and hairs. Bathroom grout and sealer around shower black mould, hairs in shower, cobwebs down the side of bedroom radiator, inside window ledges dusty and a smell of damp dog as you walk in . There was also a strong smell of drains on our first day coming from the en-suite.A welcome pack of tea coffee milk ect would be a nice touch. Some nice touches such as PlayStation and firewood supply. Comfy sofas a plus and the location is great for exploring.

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at Laurel Cottage. We try hard to maintain a high standard so it was disappointing to hear this was not the case in some areas. Please be assured we have now addressed the specific areas you have raised. We have checked and there appears to be no on going issue with the en-suite bathroom. - Sykes owner relations

The property

In a quiet location close to the South Lakes, with a gentle walk along the river to the local pub and the southern tip of Lake Windermere just minutes away, Laurel Cottage is the perfect choice for a Lakeland holiday.

Converted from a row of workmen's cottages, Laurel Cottage maintains all its period charm with plenty of contemporary style.

Pet friendly and sleeping 4, it's a perfect jumping off point for a young family or a couple who want to explore the South Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales and the Cumbrian coast.

The accommodation at Laurel Cottage has been finished to a very high standard, keeping period features like the old wood beams and adding modern convenience.

The cottage is topsy-turvy, so after you enter through the hall with its utility cupboard housing the washing machine and tumble dryer, you'll find the master double bedroom with en-suite shower room, wash basin and WC, then the second bedroom with a pair of children's bunk beds.

There's also a bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC.

Upstairs, you'll find the main living accommodation which makes the most of the views.

There's a spacious and open plan living/dining and kitchen area that's fully equipped.

The living space is beautifully decorated and there are squashy sofas, a wood burning stove and a dining table.

Outside the views are simply enchanting over the rolling green hills and you can view them from the paved front and back gardens.

Relax on a summer's day and listen to the babbling of the river or take a stroll to one of the many pubs nearby.

There's private parking for 1 car, plus on-street parking.

Spark Bridge is just 2 miles from Coniston Water and a 5-minute drive from the southern tip of Lake Windermere.

This is a peaceful and tranquil part of the world, ideal for exploring the South Lakes but also offering a tranquil haven away from the tourist hot spots.

Laurel Cottage is ideal for a family holiday in the beautiful Lake District, with attractions like the South Lakeland Animal Park and Aquarium nearby to keep the children happy and some of the best walking and biking in the country around the picturesque lakes and fells.

Enjoy a beach day on one of the scenic and unspoiled Cumbrian beaches nearby or take the opportunity to explore the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales.

Whether you love learning about English heritage, are a steam train enthusiast or love fine dining, the Lake District is the ideal destination.

Bright and airy, Laurel Cottage is perfectly equipped for a young family or outdoorsy couple - and their dog - who want to see a different side of Lakeland life at any time of year.
