  • "The holiday cottage was cozy with a lovely creek running at the back of the cottage."

We enjoyed our stay and were comfortable. The owner was friendly and responsive to all our questions and accommodated our needs. The only disadvantage was that buses were available twice a day and only on weekdays. Otherwise, we had a pleasant and comfortable stay and got to know some of the warm folks in that area.

Thank you for your kind review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at No7. Sorry about the buses, but unfortunately that is life in small villages nationwide. Property Owner

  • "Really lovely property, even nicer than the pictures… facilities were fine for our little stay but a small freezer would be beneficial for longer stays."

If we come back to the area would definitely stay again if the property is available.

Thank you. So pleased you enjoyed your stay at No 7 and we of course will be very happy for you to return. Sorry about the freezer, but as you are aware the kitchen is quite compact and fridge space /size won over the option of a tiny freezer box within the fridge. Property Owner

We enjoyed sharing the gardens with the other houses and the boys loved playing with the neighbours dogs, they were all really friendly. We also struck lucky with the weather. Excellent location for the zoo, go ape and the steam trains/aquarium. We would love to stay at No.7 again.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage in a small tranquil village, a little off the beaten track."

Found we were able to park outside quite easily even when we had been out all day. Bev the cottage owner does not live locally but is on hand to talk to if needed and is more than willing to help which is good for peace of mind. All you need is there in the cottage and any additional info easy to find. Sound of the river behind the cottage is lovely and plenty to do around the south lakes. Loads of walks locally and more if you want to travel the area. Pub couple doors away recently refurbed, good food, nice owners, also one up the hill, great beer and food a little different, with interesting workshops with cafe, well worth 5 minute walk. Shops more of a trek for supplies but as a whole we had a great time in this cottage and would certainly return again.

Thanks ever so much for your very positive review. We do our best to ensure our cottage is well looked after and comfortable Bev and Will Property Owner

Amazing shared back garden with a lovely river. A real holiday feel! Cottage very cosy with everything you need and most importantly to us within 10-15 minutes of all the wonderful places we wanted to visit in the Lake District. Thank you!

Thanks for your feedback. We are so glad you and your family had such a good time staying in our cottage, that everything you needed was available and close to all the places you wanted to visit. It is such a treat to enjoy sitting in the garden listening to the river rushing by. Lovely clean cottage equipped with everything we needed. Very comfortable beds which is really important to me! The location is truly stunning. The shared outside space is beautiful with fabulous views over rolling hills, and a river at the bottom of the garden. I felt I had come to my heaven! I spent hours sitting reading in the garden soaking up the views, sounds and general peaceful ambiance of the place. The neighbours were lovely and friendly and gave us some good advice about the locality. The pub almost next door was also great with pleasant staff and tasty food. Plenty of beautiful walks in the locality so we hardly had to drive out except to get groceries. The host was also lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. I would definitely book this cottage again. We had one of the best holidays here…I’m missing it already!

Would recommend to anyone who wants to visit the southern parts of the Lakes. Reaching the northmost peaks may be a little far for some. There are only two things to consider: parking outside the flat is slightly awkward but alternative parking is only a short walk away. No shops within walking distance as stated in the description. On the whole we had a great summer holiday at the Lakes

Everything was exactly as described and I appreciated a call from the owner a few days beforehand. They have recently installed a stable door in the kitchen, which is a lovely touch for the warmer weather. The only thing that would improve it would be a small freezer - we missed not having ice for drinks. Luckily the barman at the Royal Oak, helped out in the hottest day.! Would definitely stay again, it was a great find, we especially loved the views out back.

This comfy cottage enjoys views across the river to the rear, and is just ten minutes’ drive from Coniston Water on the boundary of the beautiful Lake District National Park.

As soon as you step inside, you’ll immediately feel welcome.

The open plan living area, with its cosy sitting area and kitchen/diner, provides a perfect place to settle together.

A stable door opens onto the garden, with steps leading down to extensive shared lawns, garden chairs and benches and the River Crake.

With lovely accommodation, which has been tastefully enhanced to maximise the original features, the cottage offers one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a shower room on the first floor.

Outside, at the rear, there are open grounds shared with the rest of the terrace, which stretches down to the river.

Just a short walk takes you to the village pub and benches on the village green alongside the River Crake, while two miles up the road in Greenodd you will find a couple more pubs, a bakery, a butcher's shop, a fish and chip shop and a convenience store.

Being ideally situated on the edge of the Lake District, there are lots of beautiful areas to explore, including the quaint Lakeland village of Hawkshead, which is just 20 minutes drive away, whilst from the cottage itself you can step out and enjoy numerous paths and bridleways running through spectacular countryside.

For a fun-filled family day, why not pop over to the Haverthwaite and Lakeside Steam Railway, and embark on a steam train to Lakeside, before joining the Windermere Steamer for a cruise up the most famous lake in the district?
