10 Customer Reviews

  • "The house had been cleaned very well prior to our arrival, and was just as shown in the photos."

Handy to walk into Chipping to pubs and cafes, and local walks. A good central spot for exploring the Trough of Bowland. A welcome pint of milk to make a cup of tea would have been a nice touch, but nothing at all was provided. The boiler is annoying and wakes you up at 6 a.m. and keeps going late at night after 11pm. Oddly, there is no mirror in the main bathroom, which makes ablutions difficult. 13.5 tog duvets were far too warm for September, but no other bed linen was provided. Someone turned up to mow the lawn and weed the garden at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning. Nice to have a washing machine, but a decent sized airer would have been helpful. The owner lives next door, but didn’t make any contact with us, other than when we text about key collection/departure. A good sized house, with plenty of facilities, and central for exploring and walking the local area,

  • "Low Orchard House is nearly new and gave easy access to surrounding areas."

Chipping is a very pretty village. The Trough of Bowland is a delightful unspoilt area of the country. The owner lives very close and was there to welcome us and very quickly answered a couple of subsequent queries. Friday was changeover day; it was no problem to us once we had established it with Sykes.

  • "Clean, well furnished, newly built eco-friendly house in beautiful Lancashire countryside with everything you need for a great holiday."

Three good sized bedrooms, with really comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen including dishwasher, induction hob, microwave and conventional oven, filter coffee maker and washing machine in small utility room. Chipping Village has a great farm shop with lovely fresh bread and a village shop / post office, as well as two pubs. There are great walks from the doorstep of the house. Further afield there are a variety of activities to suit all ages (we travelled as family of 5 with three children ranging from 4 years to 12 years) including Clitheroe with its Castle, Pendle Hill (which we managed with our 4 year old via the steep route on the way up), Beacon Fell Country Park and lots of lovely gastropubs set in incredible locations. One week did not feel long enough and we are already planning our return!

The property

Nestled in the quaint village of Chipping, surrounded by idyllic Lancashire countryside, lies this attractive, detached home, Low Orchard House.

Presented to a fine standard, this inviting retreat is perfect for families looking to escape from normal life and enjoy a refreshing break.

Step into an entrance hallway where you can leave your walking gear before finding the open-plan living space, considered the social hub of the property.

Get the woodburning stove roaring before you sink into the sumptuous sofa and search for something to watch on the Smart TV, while the designated chef of the house can relish in the kitchen, appointed with several modern appliances set around white units and a contemporary splashback.

When the sun is shining, open the patio doors to bring the outside in, accessing the garden where you can enjoy lunch at the furniture, or simply kick back with a favourite beverage and admire the nature.

When getting some shut-eye, there are three bedrooms to pick from; the ground-floor hosts the master with super-king-size bed and en-suite shower, whilst upstairs provides two king-size rooms, each with built-in wardrobes and matching units.

Step under the rainfall shower or run yourself a warm bath following a day of excursions – whatever aids your relaxation the most.

The historic village of Chipping lies in the Ribble Valley, meaning you are surrounded by plenty of scenic trails and footpaths, while only being a few paces from the village pubs.

Venture into the town of Clitheroe, where you can enjoy attractions such as the Grade I listed castle, supposedly the smallest Norman castle in England, with all of a maze, sixteen acres of landscaped gardens and a museum, sure to offer plenty of entertainment for all ages.

Browse the town’s market and pick up some local produce for a picnic, or indulge in a hearty breakfast at a café before strolling around the shops one afternoon.

Take yourself further afield to the town of Skipton, considered the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, where you can observe its impressive castle and enjoy the lively atmosphere, whilst keen walkers will be drawn to the Forest of Bowland where plenty of footpaths can be explored, as well as activities including gliding, paragliding and fishing.

Low Orchard House promises a charming retreat with loved ones, whatever time of year.
