    We had to wait each afternoon until 6.30pm when the heating came on which was a little chilly! There were no firelighters to light a fire.

Ashley Croft Barns

A group of two charming cottages situated in the village of Starbotton, both presented to a high standard, with characterful furnishings and a homely interior throughout. Whether you are just starting off your day, or returning home for some well-earned relaxation, each retreat is a promising choice to spend some quality time. The cosy lounge is ideal for a snug night in front of the fire, as you sit back on the sumptuous sofas away from it all. There is also a well-equipped kitchen, ideal for preparing breakfast through to lunch, with Ashley Croft Upper Barn also boasting its very own breakfast bar. The bedrooms will become your own little haven for a good night’s sleep, comprising of a king-size room and a double, making this holiday set-up perfect for couples or a group of friends. Outside you can make yourself at home on the patio area, a nice spot to unwind with a refreshing drink and take in the one-of-a-kind location. Views of the fells can also be experienced from one of the beautiful cottages, and an external outbuilding includes a delightful barbecue. Off-road parking for 3/4 cars and lockable bike storage are a nice addition to the properties. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking areas in the Dales, with The Dales Way passing nearby, good access to Buckden Pike and gentle walks along the riverbanks. The village itself comprises a cluster of stone-built cottages and houses with, at its centre, the wonderful 'Fox and Hounds' pub serving great ales and fine food. There are numerous footpaths, circular walks and the River Wharfe on the doorstep, plus close by are Buckden, Malham, Kettlewell, Grassington and Skipton. A getaway for all to enjoy.

Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned - an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland.
