“We had a lovely stay here.”

Well equipped and comfortable. Just a couple of niggles being no bin liners left for us and only one toilet roll which we thought was a bit unusual. We also had two light bulbs that had blown with no replacements in the box. Having said this we would definitely come back.

The property

This immaculately presented cottage, in a row of four, was once a former chapel and is situated in the pretty village of Staveley in the Lake District National Park.

A wonderful unique cottage suitable for couples, or smaller parties of friends and family wishing to explore this gorgeous area whilst still being convenient for all of the Lakes.

Full of history and character, it is stylishly furnished throughout in contemporary light colours whilst keeping its integral character with large stone windows, vaulted beams and quirky roof angles.

The ground floor is open plan with a modern well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable sitting area featuring a woodburning stove and duel aspect windows.

Upstairs there are two comfortable and spacious light filled bedrooms, both with resplendent beams which would have been open to the congregation in years gone by.

There are glass doors at each end, French doors to the front with a sunny seating area and a door to the rear leading to the decked patio and then down to a delightful cottage garden which overlooks a brook and is quite charming, a truly peaceful and pretty spot to relax and enjoy an alfresco meal or drink.

Step out of your cottage and explore this pretty village with its cafes, artisan bakeries, restaurant, a popular pub serving delicious food, the UK’s largest cycling shop, and the Hawkshead Brewery which hosts live music events and festivals.

This area is superb for cycling and walking especially in the less well-known but stunning Kentmere valley which shoulders the village.

You can enjoy the flowing River Kent and a five mile walk will take you into Kendal or hike to Potter Tarn above the village.

Why not hop on a train to Windermere, a mere seven minute journey and explore Windermere and Bowness, down to the lake where there is a host of water activities including cruises allowing you a superb vista of the stunning Lakeland scenery?

Ambleside, Grasmere and Coniston are also easily accessible by car, and at the end of a busy day you can return to your beautiful cottage and enjoy the tranquil outdoor space or snuggle down in front of the woodburner on chillier evenings.
