  • "The cottage is just lovely, and in these day it was very re-assuring to find it so clean and with lots of sanitising stuff left out for us to use."

The furnishings are of a very high standard and the kitchen is well equipped and again to a high standard. Location is excellent. The only downside is the parking access. A very helpful neighbour did guide me into the space on the first day and I was pretty much OK after that....if a little anxious each time we returned back from our walks. I would highly recommend Tailor's Cottage.

  • "The cottage was very comfortable set in the interesting village of Staveley."

Tailors Cottage is a good base for exploring the Lakes and wider area of Cumbria. Although we enjoyed our stay the off road parking was difficult and the cottage is situated on a fairly busy road junction.

Everything was lovely, nice welcome pack, just one thing, in the kitchen there damp patches halfway up the wall near to the sink and near the fridge freezer, quite wet, didn't bother us but thought you need to know

  • "What a lovely welcoming cottage, it felt like home the moment we stepped thru the door."

The photos don't do the cottage justice, it is so much more roomy inside we were amazed at how big it felt. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need if you want to do a bit of cooking like ourselves, it had probably more amenities than we do at home very impressed. The bathroom had a proper wow factor and was spotlessly clean, everything was just so well presented. The village is charming and has most things you could need all on a flat level so easy to get about. A great base for a lakes holiday we will definitely go back to Tailors Cottage in the future for more adventures.

  • "What a perfect cottage and place to stay!"

The cottage was clean, pretty and homey -we where all sad to leave. We had a perfect holiday. The pretty village of Staveley was perfect! Amazing pub and chippy, all shops within 5 minutes walk. Wish we was still there!

  • "Tailor's Cottage provided an excellent base for visits and walks in the area."

It's also convenient for the regular bus service between Kendal and the Lakes, for which there are good value daily and weekly Explorer tickets, providing the option to leave the car at home. Whilst its central village location means it's more noisy than a rural location, the benefit to that is easy access to local shops and facilities and we found Staveley to be a very welcoming and friendly village.

Nice touches like couple of dishwashing tablets. Had an issue with the boiler while we were there, they had a gas engineer there within a couple of hours. The village has all you need with good walks and cycles direct from the house. Would definitely stay there again.

Parking a little tight but after using the space a few times got it off to a fine art. Lovely location in the lakes handy for north and south lake district. A welcome pack was left for us on arrival which was much appreciated. We would use this cottage again if in the lake district.

Tailors cottage exceeded expectations with the owners providing excellent accommodation and they had added lovely touches e g wine and biscuits on arrival. We took evening strolls around the village with the pretty river running alongside and saw a kingfisher, heron ,and dipper. The local pub has a beer garden on the banks of the river and the food is very good. We enjoyed our first stay in the lake district

A few minutes stroll to Wilf's cafe, the Hawkshead brewery, a fish and chip shop, a small well stocked supermarket, and the Eagle and Child pub - all can be highly recommended. The cottage itself is very well equipped and very comfortable.

  • "Cottage met the high expectations I had."

Clean, spacious, well kept, convenient parking & mini patio (never used because of weather). Would book it again like a shot. Owners were very helpful and made me find bottle of wine and biscuits, plus Nespresso cartridges. However, prospective clients must be aware of typical features of old cottages: a couple of low doors, somewhat steep stairs, and spider activity. You can't have your cake and eat it I guess...
