  • "The Stables is a lovely cosy well equipped cottage."

There is good parking for two cars and we were very grateful to be allowed to store our bikes in a shed. It has excellent facilities throughout, including the all important WiFi and a hot tub which we didn’t get round to using. There was more than adequate heating throughout the cottage and a constant supply of hot water, although the towel rail in the downstairs shower room was too hot to touch and did present a bit of a hazard. It is in a lovely setting and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wishing to holiday in that area. Thank you.

Thankyou so much for you great feed back .its warming to no you appreciated all our hard work we have done renovating the property ourselves ..we are sorry about the towel radiator in the downstairs shower room but it is the heating release valve so unfortunately it can’t be turned off. We will get plaque made to place above the radiator saying caution extremely hot . Kindest regards, Andrew and Melanie Watson. Property Owner

Melanie was really helpful, recommending attractions in the area & things to do with the children. Also allowing us to go see their horses, so my daughter was very happy! The accommodation is lovely, excellent condition & well equipt. Numerous baking trays, pans etc. Washing machine & airer. Tea towels & cloths/scourers with washing up liquid is all provided. Milk already in the fridge & some delicious biscuits were a lovely treat to arrive to. Great sized hot tub which we used daily! The Stables is in a lovely location, views of sheep & cows from the windows upstairs, and we had a lovely peaceful stay. Would definitely recommend, particularly for walkers as there are plenty of walks right on the doorstep.

One wasn't open at all whenever we drove through. When we arrived at the cottage ,the owner had a left a welcome gift for us, which was lovely and thoughtful. There was milk and a bottle of a wine in the fridge, cookies and a bowl of chocolates . Also fresh flowers on the dining table. There was also tea, coffee and sugar in the pots. We took everything with us. This is great if you have limited room in car. You don't need to pack things like soap and cleaning supplies, all the bathrooms and kitchen had carex soap , there was toilet roll in the bathroom and washing up liquid and sponges in the kitchen . Again, we took everything but wouldn't have needed it. The decor and furnishings are beautiful and tasteful . Everything is comfortable. A lot of thought has gone into the comfort and entertainment of the people staying, there's a Wii fit, now tv, prime video,Netflix. We were out and about so didn't really use any of it but it's nice the option was available. You get a starter pack for the fire burner ,, it was all set up to go, all we had to do was light it and add more logs as they burnt. We only used it once as the weather was mild but it let's out a lot of heat . This would be lovely in the winter. You get a really decent amount of logs for a starter pack, we only used half and it lasted all night. The hot tub was lovely, after you've been out walking in the day, it's lovely to chill in it in the afternoon before dinner. I was watching all the wildlife in the garden. It's amazing how many birds you can spot .At night, if it's clear you can stargaze . There's no temperature adjustment button you can do yourself but the owners were there within a few mins of me asking if it could be adjusted higher , it had been the heatwave the week before ,so it had been turned down and was a bit too cool . I was really impressed with how quickly it was sorted out, I'd just asked if they could it the next day. The outside courtyard is equipped with everything, the table and chairs for outside dining, a chimney for cool nights and a gas bbq, we didn't use any of it as we were out and about but everything has been though of . There's even melamine plates and bowls and outside glassware that's good quality. The kitchen has everything you need and some. There's even a really nice cheese board set with knives . The tableware is denby . Everything is colour coordinated. It's a home away from home. The bedrooms are lovely. The main bedroom is huge , the bed was so comfortable. The other room the beds can be ziplocked to make a double ,so very versatile for families and couples. I'd definitely come back here again. It has everything you need and something for everyone, walks on the doorstep, places to visit, castles, waterfalls. I couldn't fault a single thing. The owners are so approachable and friendly ,which is always a good start.

  • "The cottage is well maintained and comfortable, with everything you need to stay either self catering or eating out."

Beds are large and welcome after a days walking. The Hot Tub is also a delight for tired limbs with a nice drink or two or three in any weather ! There are plenty of things to keep you occupied inside or outside - TV, board games , books , wii, and just cooking a nice meal if you prefer. There are nice walks nearby and several pubs and cafes to visit if you wish. The TEESPOT in Mickleton is very good for cake ( GF also ) and coffee, and the TEESDALE Hotel does nice food. Scenery in the area is stunning and the sheep and cattle friendly while out walking. All in all we had a very relaxing time and would highly recommend /return to this cottage. Hosts very approachable and dealt with any issue we had promptly. ( Just one note of caution for anybody staying with young children - there are notices up by the way from the hosts - but the hot water is very hot ) Thanks for a very relaxing stay - hope to see you again in the future.

The accommodation had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay, and was warm and cosy to return to after days out. The log burner added to the cosy atmosphere. There were just three of us for the weekend, but the cottage is very spacious, so there would be plenty of room for four. The hosts did a good job of anticipating the needs of their guests: the Stables was well equipped with all we needed to prepare food, etc. and for evening relaxation. Every comfort is thought of including welcome goodies to get you settled in. The cottage is in a lovely rural setting on the old disused railway path which you can reach from the garden. There are several walks from the village, either Mickleton or Middleton in Teesdale. Hot tub is very welcome after a day walking, which we made use of every day. Fabulous location, very quiet and very recommended.

) A wonderful, relaxing weekend and would definitely book again. Absolutely loved the cosy cottage decor and it was like a home from home with many of the same furnishings we have. Perfect! Top tips - if going when it's dark, it's a bit tricky to find so maybe call beforehand for help getting there. Take matches and spare logs for the stove (although a petrol station and co-op nearby supplied bits and pieces so this wasn't a problem).

It was spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and very welcoming, as were the owners and the neighbours. It is one of the best we have stayed in. The location was ideal for us lots of walks and beautiful scenery close by and the lake district only a little over an hour away. The owners went above and beyond in terms of quality of bedding/towels, quality of furnishings and welcome pack (bubbly, chocolates, cookies, bread, butter, eggs, orange juice, milk and even TV magazines) - and items provided toilet rolls, washing machine and dishwasher tablets etc. The photos really could not show just how lovely the cottage was. We also made use of the shed to store our bikes which were locked inside. Also this was a great location in Yorkshire for cycling, walking and nearby market towns. The owners had put a gate from the back garden of the cottage onto the Teesdale Way (disused railway track now a walking/cycling path) to make access even easier. Hot tub was checked and cleaned daily but early in the day so not to interrupt our stay. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.

  • "Outstanding property."

Pictures show a lovely cottage that looks quite small. Indeed it looks like that from outside. But it’s a tardis! In fact this is a beautiful and spacious property which is very tastefully decorated. Very functional, modern while charming and with lots of personal touches from the owners. It certainly has a personality. Huge and comfortable bed, lovely twin room for my daughter as well. Clean, modern bathroom, rain shower downstairs with good water pressure. Everything is excellent. We wanted for nothing. So well equipped especially the kitchen. Very comfortable throughout. WiFi, which was fast enough for streaming. Hot tub great for relaxing in under the uninterrupted night sky, which is full of stars as very little to no light pollution. Our young daughter loved the many board games and was grateful for the colouring book! As we were for the generous welcome pack! Also lots of dvds and books. If there is anything you could want from a cottage holiday I can’t think of it! Great location. The abondoned train line runs right beside the property and there is a gate immediately onto it. You are straight onto a lovely walk. Also in the other direction, a 10/15 minute walk across some fields, woodland and along a river brings you to the town with multiple shops, pubs and CoOp. It sits between two B roads, but you wouldn’t know it, very little traffic noise, the back road where the hot tub is see maybe two vechicles an hour in the evening to give you an idea. Left to our own devices, but owners are immediately next door for any issues. Throughly recommended.
