  • "Lovely cottage with an homely feel and everything you could want, spotlessly clean, very secluded and private, great place to relax especially in the hot tub."

Jo met us on arrival and arranged some food for us to feed the alpacas which was a nice touch, Jo and Ian also visited us as we left to check everything had been as we wanted and if they could improve in any areas, overall a highly recommended place to stay.

After a warm welcome we were shown around to the private garden (with hot tub ready and waiting) and into the cosy, spotless cottage. Lots of lovely welcome gifts and just about everything you could need for a very comfortable, relaxing stay.

So many delightful, unexpected and generous touches in addition to an already wonderful place to stay. Despite the dreadful weather, we never lit the woodburner as the property was so well insulated we were toasty and warm. Lovely times in the hot tub under the moon and the alpacas were endlessly fascinating. So kind of you to decorate for Christmas, too. Thank you. Would love to know where you got the gold looking pen from! Turkish Delight was divine and we loved it all. Thank you and all good wishes.

Everything from the furnishings, the towels, the crockery and the decor oozed quality. It was very warm, very clean, very comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. The location was picture perfect, the hot tub was luxurious, and the bed was by far the comfiest I've ever slept in. I could not fault anything about our stay except that I wish we could have stayed for longer!!

Extremely well presented and very clean, warm and comfortable with all the 'mod cons' you could ask for. High evidence of attention to detail, and all the little extras were well received. Lovely location, not overlooked at all and we able to enjoy music, fizz and bubbles in the hot tub without any chance of disturbing or being disturbed by anyone. Really enjoyed our 4 night stay in spite of the wind and rain associated with some stormy weather! Well done Jo and Ian Already planning to return. Peter and Jane

  • "Not sure where to start with this property and the hosts (and the Alpacas)."

All were absolutely amazing and we'll start by saying this won't be our last visit. Exactly as seen in the photos and descriptions and all immaculate. We were met by Jo who was just so lovely throughout the stay and provided everything we needed to make it a perfect week. If you want a peaceful time away in complete luxury accompanied by the odd Alpaca (who you also get to feed if your happy with animals) then this should be the choice for you. Not to far from colne or skipton but it was our choice to do absolutely nothing, even arranged a tesco delivery at one stage. Walked to the back lane end tavern a couple of times (30 mins) but was worth it for the food and service. Was also lovely to meet Ian on the last day who was just as lovely. Overall, could not fault this property and would recommend to everyone.

  • "We have just spent a week in Beckside Cottage and we can honestly say it was absolutely perfect; from the very warm and so friendly welcome from the owners Jo and Ian on our arrival to the farewell chat with Jo as we were leaving."

The cottage is beautiful, set in the most ideallic, peaceful setting. Once inside the cottage it is so apparent the care and attention given to the cleanliness and contents..furnishings, bed linen, towels etc, is second to none; the quality outstanding. We were greeted with a lovely welcome gift of prosecco and chocolates; which were very much appreciated. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need; again excellent quality. The outside area has an excellent range of patio furniture and lovely hot tub. It is a perfect sun trap. Feet away from the cottage is a field with lovely, friendly alpacas (which we had the pleasure of feeding) owned by Jo and Ian. All in all Beckside Cottage, its surroundings and especially the owners should be very highly commended. We will wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful holiday home to friends and family and to anyone looking for quality time away. Thank you Jo and Ian for our amazing stay. We both wish you all the very best in everything that you do.

Jo. Ian and their daughter were so lovely. They made me feel relaxed and welcome. They well organized, very professional. Caring, helpful and supportive. I have started to save up to go for another amazing stay at their beautiful cottage. Loved the setting around the cottage. You feel like you're in the Yorkshire dales or the Yorkshire Moors with the fields and surroundings. A very peaceful and private place to come for some privacy. Enjoyed the complimentary treat's. Chocolates crisps orange juice bottled water. Biscuits cups of tea and coffee. Loved the hot tub outside. and the bath in the bedroom. Unfortunately I struggled getting any hot water in the bathroom shower. Am old school used to having a bath so that's probably why I struggled with getting myself some hot water in the shower. Have another go at my next stay. Much better than a hotel.

About the location

COWLING

Skipton 7 miles.

The ancient village of Cowling sits across a hillside in the Pennine Hills, just seven miles from the market town of Skipton. A thriving village, built along a main high street with stone-built, terraced houses set alongside the mills of a bygone age. The village was once sparsely populated, the bulk of the population living in Ickornshaw and Middleton, and before that on Cowling Hill, close to water sources they depended on, and the main roads of the day - now used as back roads by locals to avoid the modern day traffic. In the early days, agriculture was the main occupation, with corn being grown and ground within the village. When canal transport boomed, corn became cheaper to buy from elsewhere and so the mills in Cowling turned from grinding corn to weaving during the Industrial Revolution. The village inn was once part of a farmhouse on Cowling Hill, but was sold as changes to the structure of the village began. The son of the landlord later opened the Bay Horse Hotel on the new road, which still stands as a main feature of village life. The nearby Quaker village of Lothersdale was, at one time, home to Charlotte Bronte who modelled Gateshead Hall in Jane Eyre on Stone Gappe House where she was governess. Today many visitors passing through the village are walkers, on their way along the Pennine Way on the stretch from Cowling to Gargrave. There's the large retail outlet of Boundary Mills, just six miles away, a must for lovers of shoping, and Skipton, known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' is nearby. Skipton is a lovely old market town with much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008 the Academy of Urbanism voted Skipton High Street the best shopping spot in Britain, and The Copper Dragon Brewery, opened in 2002 is highly rated in the CAMRA listings. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the one mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short distance away. In 2014 the area hosted the first leg of the Tour De France, bringing in many visitors from far and wide to this wonderful area.
