  • "We had a lovely stay at the meadows."

Everything you could need couldn't fault a thing. The pool facilities were a bonus especially for the kids although a bit on the cold side for me. We relaxed as soon as we arrived. We will definitely stay again.

Sara, thanks for the fantastic feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. The leisure centre only told me yesterday that there was an issue with the pool heating, it’s now fixed so sorry about that. Look forward to you staying again in 2024 Peter and Jane Douglas Property Owner

  • "The property was perfect and had everything you needed."

I was familiar with Kirkby Lonsdale as I lived in Kendal for 25 years. The use of the leisure facilities was a bonus and although I did not use them myself my friend used them quite often. It was her first visit to the area so the location was ideal.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you book again in the future . Regards Peter and Jane Douglas Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay at 15 The Meadows and the pool was an added bonus for us."

Plenty to do round and about and Kirkby Lonsdale is beautiful. Everyone was so friendly too. Will happily recommend this lovely property/area and would like to return in the future ourselves.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Very comfortable and well-maintained. It was a little tricky to juggle the heating as the downstairs bedroom gets cooler than the upstairs.

  • "House was spotless on our arrival and had everything you need for a short break."

Good location for visiting the Dales and Kirkby Lonsdale is on the doorstep which has a few nice pubs and shops.

  • "It’s a lovely place… BUT the property needed a deep clean."

It was tidy but not clean. Lots of thick dust under kids beds, cobwebs, lots of dead flies, moths and spiders. We stayed there before and was really looking forward to it but it wasn’t up to scratch for the money we paid. Such a shame as the location and facilities are great.

  • "Hi there, Me and the kids really enjoyed our stay."

My children liked the open space downstairs and the modern feel. Also access to the pool was easy and the staff were lovely. We enjoyed the evening views and walked up to see the cows and sheep grazing outside. The view of the sunset too. The children opted to sleep in the main double room with me. The balcony does pose a slight risk to children so I made sure my youngest did not attempt any climbing; it would be an idea to consider a safer alternative there. All amenities were excellent; we went home with all our washing done and dried I could not ask for more in terms of usefulness. Access to Netflix and shows etc was of huge benefit too. We would visit again.

  • "Great location for the lakes."

Close to Kirby Lonsdale for many good pubs and restraunts also great food at Black Bull in Sedburgh. 4 adults plus 1 baby found our stay to be a great experience. We would definately recommend a stay here. However, I wouldn't go to Whoop Hall, the pub nearby. Such a pitty it has so much potential.

Thanks for the great feedback Tim. Glad you and the family enjoyed your stay. Peter & Jane Property Owner

Property was in excellent condition with great facilities and was a great spot for various walking routes. Welcoming gifts from the owners was a nice touch too. Would highly recommend!

  • "Brilliant property!"

Maybe just worth mentioning in listing, there’s is one step into property, no steps on ground floor facilities inside property. So disabled know fully the accessibility of the property. Fantastic property, first class, loved it all, will be back! Thanks.

  • "We are a family of four who stayed at the property over christmas 2021."

The accomodation was very clean and spacious. Its a short distance to many tourist attractions and restuarants. It was great to be able to use the swimming pool and Gymn facilities within walking distance. Having Neflix was a bonus. I will definately recommend staying at this accomodation.

  • "Beautifully presented."

Amazing amount of space! Great location for walking and cycling. Pity the walk to Kirkby Lonsdale is on the grass verge - but fortunately only 500m before a footpath through the fields to Devil's Bridge. Could probably get to Cowan Bridge through the fields to the caravan park? Hope to return soon.

  • "The property is lovely and we had a very enjoyable stay."

When we arrived the house hadn't been cleaned at all. This was very disappointing and meant we had to change our plans and then the kids didn't have time to swim. The owners got in touch with the cleaners and they arrived and did the job. It was cleaned well after this, the only problem was that they only left us 2 towels for a family of 4. Had this cleaning problem not happened we would rate it very highly as the area and house is great.

Thank you for your review . We are pleased you found the property lovely and enjoyed your stay. With regards to the cleaning we apologise again for this . Unfortunately, we were all let down by the cleaning company and have been assured this will not happen again. As soon as we were made aware we did everything we could from a distance to put this right . I understand the owner of the cleaning company came to the property with the cleaners and left a bottle of Prosecco as an apology. We hope that the fact that we paid for a meal out for your family, whilst the clean was done, showed how we appreciated the inconvenience and that this should not have happened . There should also be two towels per person left out at the property. This review is the first we have heard that this was not the case ? This is something else we are now taking up with the cleaners . I hope that what happened did not spoil the rest of your stay and hopefully you will visit our property again in the future. Kind Regards Peter and Jane Property Owner

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
