  • "Holiday apartment on the cusp of Lake District and Yorkshire."

Lovely apartment with great views. Very equipped with everything you need for a great stay, dog friendly too. Lovely walks along the river Lune however, one footpath is closed, so had to turn back?

Hello, Thankyou, " it's a lovely apartment with great views!" Just confirms why we love Fellside view. Altogether glowing feedback indeed. We do hope you can stay again soon. With best wishes. Sheila Property Owner

  • "Great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales as well as the Lake District."

Being extremely honest, the places had a bit of a musty smell & was a little damp on arrival. However, within hours the place was nice & cosy & we had a comfortable week there & eventually got use to the strange smell. Our party consisted of myself (limited mobility), mum & aunt (age range 59 to 83), plus 3 dogs (2 retired medical alert dogs & one fully trained working disability assistance dog). Although the place is not advertised as accessible, I would like to add a note regarding this for anyone elderly or with mobility issues: the flat is all on ground floor & easy to get around if able to walk a few steps & not limited to full wheelchair use. Car parking area is fine for normal vehicles, & close to main entrance, but not ideal if wheelchair access is needed for a chair using an hoist as parking area is uneven. Parking in front of the main entrance & unloading the wheelchair was much easier & entrance into the flat is accessible (doors need opening in advance by a member of your party as they are quite heavy & there is a small step on entry). There are no wheelchair walks suitable from the flat, so please don’t think it’s a place to stay if you are a wheelchair user & intend going down to the local pub in you chair as accessible footpaths are very limited. I know this flat is not listed as accessible, & I went with full knowledge of limited accessibility, so these comments are just for other users who are looking for possible places to stay when unable to find fully accessible holiday lets. We did have an issue with the hot water whilst there, plus the bedroom heater wasn’t working, but the owner was always available to talk with & is very helpful. Note: these issues were being rectified by the owner on the day we left. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay at Fellside View & it was a great base. There was plenty of space to put down three dog beds in the living room & having the kitchen area combined with the living room, worked out really well for us. There was tea & coffee provided on the side for us on arrival as well as various cleaning products in the cupboard under the sink…the dogs loved their doggy treats

Hello, Thankyou for your feedback. Myself and my housekeeper have taken note of your feedback, and as you know the plumber came within 24 hours to fix the problem . We dont advertise the area as wheelchair friendly because of the hilly pavements, the apartment justhappens to be on the ground floor. We are delighted you found the kitchen diner and lounge combined area worked well for you all! It makes life alot easier Property Owner

The apartment is very comfortable with lots of homely touches including pictures and furnishings, a great base to get back to. The kitchen also is well equipped with everything you could need, and some games and books (including a few for children) were also provided. The mattress was not that comfortable, but I suppose this is a matter of preference. Booster for the bathroom fan is really useful. Tea bags provided were a nice touch. Great walks in local area. Would recommend!

  • "On arrival I found the underside of the toilet seat to be badly stained so first thing I did was give it a good clean."

Had it not been for this I would have scored perfect for cleanliness. While I don't agree with another users review stating sofa was broken I wouldn't agree with the "Sumptuous" description. One side of it was sagging towards the middle. I would have liked to have had a more secure lock on the entrance door that couldn't be locked by key from the inside, just a flimsy sliding bolt. However, I would like to emphasise I found the flat comfy, particularly the bed, and having a smart TV enabled a wider choice of viewing. I would happily book Fellside again hoping that my feedback will be acted on in future.

Dear Guest, Thankyou for your really helpful review, we have immediately had the key situation sorted out, fully working both ways now. Housekeeper is aware of your feedback. Delighted to read bed is comfy and smart TV was useful. Thankyou, and we look forward to welcoming you again ! With kind regards, The Owner Property Owner

  • "No heating in the bathroom was a problem along with the hot water situation, having to prepare the water 30 minutes before you need it, then the water pressure is poor."

A beautiful apartment in a lovely building but it does have black mould and damp in the doorway area but none in the actual apartment itself. The sofa needs replacing and we had to wash all of the crockery before we used it as it was grimy. Further to this the towels provided had far too much softener in them so they were rather useless but also had an awful stench.

Dear Guest, Thankyou for your review. There is a wall heater in the bathroom that works within minutes to heat the room. It is working. To operate the hot water supply for washing up involves pressing one switch 30 minutes before using, as its immersion, and the electric shower is immediate hot water. The comfortable sofa, as commented by others, and is not broken in any way. We will sort out the towels, but you were offered and accepted more, as you asked to extend your stay by another week. Thankyou for saying the flat was lovely, and we look forward to welcoming you back ☺️ Property Owner

  • "Had a wonderful stay at Fellside View - great location with easy motorway links to both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, and it was very peaceful."

Apartment was lovely, with a very comfy bed and furnishings, plus the parking was good. Only small complaints would be that the property wasn't as clean as some other places we have stayed (both the toilet and the dishes needed cleaning before use!) and a small niggle of having to put the immersion heater on to get hot water for washing up. It would have been nice to have some more info about the apartment in the welcome pack, as we had to use some guesswork for the radiators, but we managed in the end.

Thankyou for your feedback, and we are delighted you had a wonderful stay! I have made our housekeeper aware of your feedback. Regarding the hot water/radiators we have added an extra page to the information folder to help support guests. We look forward to welcoming you back to Fellside View ! With best wishes, The owner. • "Lovely sitting room/ kitchen well equipped and homely will be back ."

I would have liked more info other than just bins. Example I wasn’t expecting the fridge not to be switched on so following the lead to the back of the cupboard at the bottom, difficult to get too luckily my niece who lives near did it. If there could be somewhere to dry the wet towels in the bathroom ,I didn’t like to put them on the heaters in sitting room.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed the comfort of the flat, and will be back. We tend to put the wall heater on in the bathroom, and the towels dry well in there. Following your feedback, we have popped an extra sheet into the information folder explaining that due to rocketing electricity prices, appliances will be switched off between guests. We are truly sorry to have to do this, but hope our guests will empathize. Looking forward to welcoming you back to this stunning corner of the world soon! Property Owner

As this property was in a small village with a Pub/Restaurant only ten minutes walk away, which allowed dogs, We thought We could take a walk at lunch or evening to the Pub which would make a change from our normal routine. THE PUB, THE CROSS KEYS, WAS CLOSED. this completely spoilt the Holiday, made it a waste of money. Jon M Coles

Clean & comfortable. Great location. Beautiful views. Despite the rain! Fab base for the Lakes There were no decent sized water/cold drinks glasses or tumblers in the apartment. The double bed needs mattress protector and fitted sheets.. The sheet did not fit properly over top of mattress, consequently it kept wriggling down and we ended up sleeping on bare mattress!! The plug in the bathroom sink did not fit correctly so you couldn't fill the sink to wash.

Thank you for your lovely and helpful comments. There are both hi-ball tumblers and glasses in the cupboards now. The mattress protectors are on, both fitted bathrooms plugs were replaced by a plumber three days ago. We hope to welcome you back soon with best wishes. Property Owner

Cupboards were dirty. Cutlery was cheap and flimsy and had to wash it all on arrival. Dead flies on carpet. The apartment had a fusty smell. No mattress protectors on beds. Broken drawer in drawers in bedroom. Sticky black patches on windowsill in bedroom that would scrape off.

Not sure you can have a really deep hot bath but I could relieve my aches and pains. The bath plug doesn't fit into the plug hole but does seem to hold the water in. I was a bit worried about kicking it off the plughole. I couldn't make the bathroom sink plug work.

Thank you for your review and for giving full marks online for comfort, cleanliness and accuracy of listing. As you say the hot water works well, just by pressing the one booster switch. The property is on a busy main road and has lots of farm traffic passing it is quiet after teatime, and thd bedroom is at the quiet back end of the apartment causing no problem when most visitors would be indoors. Other than that cosy and comfy and very close to Tebay services recently on TV.

About the location

TEBAY

Kendal 13 miles; Penrith 17 miles; Windermere 19 miles.

The charming old village of Tebay sits near the eastern fringe of the Lake District National Park. The village itself winds its way along the edge of the main thoroughfare and the traditionally whitewashed Cross Keys Inn has been there for 500 years or more. The inn is reputedly haunted by the ghost of the Tebay Witch, Mary Baynes. Along with its better-known neighbours of Kendal, Sedbergh and Appleby-in-Westmorland, the area is surrounded by lovely rolling countryside and beautiful scenery. Nearby Orton has a Post Office/shop, tea rooms and the famous handmade chocolate shop. A lovely village green surrounded by 17th and 18th century cottages adds to its charm and there is a farmers' market in the village square on the second Saturday of every month. Take a short drive and discover the unspoilt lake of Haweswater, or take advantage of the excellent road links to the Lake District, the Eden Valley and the Yorkshire Dales.
