  • "This cottage has everything you could wish for or need."

From every room having their own en-suite to smart tv which are already connected to Netflix and prime, to a fully stocked kitchen with every utensil and gadget you could possibly ever need. The location is perfect as although it’s on a fairly busy road, the traffic noise is minimal and it makes it easier to explore the nearby towns and villages. There was even laundry capsules, dishwater tablets, tea & coffee and biscuits awaiting our arrival.

  • "My husband and I recently shared this lovely house with 3 other couples, everything was perfect, 4 lovely bedrooms each with its own en-suite, we could not fault anything - fully equipped as you would want your own home."

The owner Sandra was very welcoming and helpful - all perfect! Sure we will return again in the future, thank you Maureen and friends

  • "Had a great family holiday at Castleys."

The house is beautiful and so comfortable! Weather was what you would expect in February, but we did manage to get out a bit for walks, meals and shopping! In the meantime couldn’t think of a nicer place to be stuck in!! Sandra was lovely, she popped round to see if we had everything we needed (we did!). Would love to come again sometime, highly recommended!

  • "We arrived at Castleys to an ice rink we had to wait 20 minutes to work out how to get my elderly parents out of the car it was so bad even our car a Range Rover slid down the drive!"

However we accepted an apology from the owner and left it at that . We left the property as we found it but have had correspondence whilst we are away on holiday saying that we have damaged the property??? I intended to deal with this when I arrive home as the only damages were 3 glasses broken in the dishwasher which I think is general wear and tear if you are letting your property out. But I have since realised you have taken £76 out of my account as far as I am concerned this has been stolen by Sykes cottages and I will do everything to get this money back .

I'm saddened to read the review you have left, particularly as the comments you left in the welcome book at the property were very different to this. Due to extreme weather there were icy patches affecting one of the entrances to the property, but as we discussed I was in the process of salting this area when you arrived (earlier than the agreed check in time) and the other entrance was perfectly clear for you to enter the property safely. This also thawed very quickly. We also are loathe to instigate a claim as part of the good housekeeping agreement and it is not something we do routinely, but on top of the damages you didn't make us aware of - the property was also in need of additional cleaning on this occasion which we incurred the costs for. The process was followed correctly and you were made aware of this claim before any charges were made, but giving our guests the best possible experience is extremely important to us, so we're very sorry for any disappointment caused by this. The bed rooms are very luxurious and comfortable with each having en-suite rooms. The lounge and kitchen areas are well set out and all you needed was there for a very relaxing stay.

  • "The cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated, particularly the bedrooms, and the beds are so comfy!"

Fabulous showers in the bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The house was a perfect place for 4 couples to meet up for a get together, with plenty of room for us all to dine and socialise. Great views from the property and lots of local walks directly from the house (follow the directions from the owner to avoid walking on the busy road…. Walk along the front of the house and turn right up the side, going through a gate into the field on the left)

It was well equipped and spotlessly clean. A car problem meant we were unable to leave the grounds of the property at the requested time. Sandra allowed us to stay on site and was extremely helpful in accommodating our needs. A very friendly and helpful host. We would definitely stay again.

Only a short drive into the Dales. Skipton and Ilkley are within 20 minutes drive, and well worth a visit. All appliances are high grade. A very comfortable place to stay. The owner (Sandra) was very helpful and provided useful information on places to go. Highly recommended.

  • "5 star accommodation, beautifully designed and well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay."

The property was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is situated with easy access to all main routes making it easy to explore the area and use as a base. There is private parking and a variety of places to sit and take in the views. The guest house adjoins Castleys and with a separate drive and entrance for your privacy, this is not intrusive and the property sets a very high standard for luxury self catering accommodation in the area. Highly recommended.

SKIPTON

Grassington 9 miles; Harrogate 20 miles.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
