The cabin and area it was absolutely stunning everything we needed and more, the hot tub was brilliant always hot and powerful jets perfect to relax in, we had the best new years there and will be booking to go again in a couple of months, me and my partner absolutely loved the place and the kids are excited to go back again, if you book this cabin you will definitely not be disappointed, nice touches also Prosecco and chocolates and cookies for the kids on arrival, can’t recommend this place enough, just stunning and everything you need for a relaxing and great opportunity to see some beautiful scenery and lovely walks

Thank you Thomas & family, Your kind words touched our hearts. Next time will order better weather. for you Andra & Chris Property Owner

  • "Enjoyed our stay at the lodge."

Very peaceful and relaxing. Stayed with friend and disabled daughter. Everything clean and tidy, lots of towels, loved the hot tub, beds comfy but could do with a step to get in! Had a laugh getting daughter in!

Hi July, Just we had to adjust the height in two of the 3 bedrooms to store the luggage that guests have . As long as you had a giggle is all good. Property Owner

  • "Interior of cottage was clean and tidy."

The exterior could do with a dusting off and the decking swept. Attempted to do this ourselves, but the outside broom was as dusty as the decking. Instructions to switch the hot tub off overnight would be helpful and save costs in electricity. Contact wit the owners was cordial and heplful. Sykes Cottages send far too many advertising emails after you have made your selection and booking!

Hi Janet, sorry that we disappointed you, about the decking, we were on holiday ourselves when you were booked so we relied on outside cleaning company. They were there on Monday before you came and did the best they could but conifers are losing needles constantly. We usually do the cleaning ourselves . With regards hot tub, we would love to be able to switch it off at night but the filter has to stay on and also if the temperature drops is twice as expensive to get it back at 37 Celsius. Thank you so much for staying with us. Property Owner

  • "I can honestly say that the pictures do not do this beautiful lodge justice ."

It was a perfect little holiday for us and everything you could possibly need was provided including lots of lovely extras . As foster parents we don’t often get lots of down time but we achieved this on this holiday ! The accommodation and surrounding area was perfect and safe for our little ones in the day and the fresh air tired them out so we even managed a couple of times in the hot tub and sat outside chilling in the evening. It really is a beautiful place to stay and lots of lovely places to visit nearby. Thankyou to the owners for the lovely stay and for their excellent communication

Hi Fiona, your words touched our heart and we are so happy that you had this feeling staying at the lodge, years ago we felt this deep connection and loved the area so much. we decided to get the place and share it with our guests that want to just live behind the hustle and bustle and relax and recharge. Thank you for choosing to stay at our place. Andra & Chris Property Owner

  • "We booked last minute for myself husband and 2 teenage girls with our dog."

The cottage was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. We arrived later in the evening and the hot tub was lovely and warm when we arrived. A nice walk down the track road and by the brook/stream with the girls exploring. The plough down the road, served the most amazing sunday lunch and was dog friendly! We will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family!

Thank you so much. We would love to welcome back soon. kindest regards Andra&Chris Property Owner

  • "The owner herself was fabulous and went out of her way to give useful information and equip the cottage really well."

A good supply of towels etc was provided and everything was clean and freshly laundered. We really struggled with the interior lighting which was far too dark. Reading a book was hard as was using the cooker when you have your back to the light. I needed a torch to find things in bags kept in the bedroom with the bunk beds. There was nowhere in the bedrooms to unpack (no drawers etc) and no real room to provide them, I wouldn’t recommend this property for bigger parties for this reason. The kitchen facilities were excellent but couldn’t really be used properly as there was nowhere where you could put food which we had to keep in the lounge area and the fridge was too small to be really useful. In terms of milk for drinks and cereal, there was only room for one carton in the door.

  • "Wonderful property with fab views and very comfortable."

Road down to it was a bit scary as the potholes were very bad so no good for any low set cars. The old vicarage tearooms nearby was great for some lovely food. Can’t wait to go back x

Hi Tracyann, Thank you so much for your review and now the road was just filled in today, weather was so bad last week so please accept our apologies . Hope to see soon, I will send your compliments to Em at The Old Vicarage Tearoom. x Property Owner

  • "This was perfect for us to explore the surrounding area."

The garden was great for our dog. The lodge had everything we needed and the hot tub helped us relax at the end of the day. A short walk to the local pub on the site across the brook was very handy. This lodge is in a beautiful area with lots to explore. We loved watching the bats and the stars in the evenings.

  • "First impressions were “Wow!"

” This place is amazing and even better than the photos. The gardens are perfect for strolling around and playing with the dogs. Farm animals all around which was lovely and the sound of running water from the beck adjoining the lodge. Inside, absolutely loved the decor, beautiful pictures and hangings on walls and high standard of charming furnishings. Not usually such high quality in rentals. Hot tub was fab. A welcome card, bottle of Prosecco and my favourite chocs just topped it off! Had a text off Andra to say the lodge was ready for us half an hour earlier which was really helpful and communication with our hosts was very good. The only thing negative about our week’s stay was the gas company was working with pneumatic drills at the Holiday Park just across the beck from 9am each weekday, but of course this was totally unforeseeable and out of the control of our hosts and did not stop us from loving this place. We had a wonderful relaxing and fun time here and would like to thank Andra and Chris for such a beautiful place for us to experience and would really like to return.

Thank you so very much for your lovely review. In an ideal world we would fix everything to make our guests have a special time but like you say unforeseen circumstances can happen . We would love you to come back at anytime! Your words mean the world to us. XAndra& Chris Property Owner

.the Lodge itself was immaculate..ever so clean, and well equipped..the TV is huge..the WiFi worked very well.the hot tub wonderful...it could benefit from downward lighting in kitchen as door cuts out one lamp..so preferably over cooker area..apart from that we couldn't fault it, and we will be back with family in tow .

Thank you so much Louise. Look forward to your coming back , you are a great and caring guest. x Andra & Chris Property Owner

  • "I felt the lodge could do with some updating in places, the kitchen and bathroom."

The fridge was too small for 5 people. Some of the plates were chipped and nothing was matching (a small thing I know). Only cheap plastic glasses. Only one mirror in one bedroom and no only socket near the mirror so unable to dry hair in front of mirror. Lighting in bathroom mirror and large mirror in main bedroom really bad for putting make up on. Lighting outside very poor especially around the hot tub. These are suggestions for small improvements but overall the lodge is in a beautiful setting, it was very comfortable and clean. Loads of parking and the hot tub was fabulous. The beds were really comfortable too. Thank you for a lovely stay

The lodge itself was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for a holiday break. The hot tub was a lovely bonus and the chocolates and Prosecco a lovely thought. Communication from the owner were very friendly and we had nothing negative to report during our time there (except perhaps the holiday was over far too quickly!) We would love to stay at this property again and would certainly use Sykes cottages to book as it was a simple process without any issues.Thank you.
