  • "It was a fantastic apartment in every way, beautifully clean and superb location."

The only drawback was the dog yapping incessantly in the apartment above. Listing had said no dogs allowed but clearly that was not the case for the whole house. So what I thought would be a peaceful dog-free retreat was not what was promised.

Thank you for your feedback. Our apartment is completely dog free but there are eight other apartments and some may allow dogs. Had we been made aware we would have asked the owners to have a polite word with their guests. Kind regards Property Owner

The owners of the cottage had thought of everything you would need and kept us informed at all times.

  • "Rambler’s Roost was is the most perfect location!"

The accommodation was well equipped and clean and a pleasure to come back to at the end of longs days out on the hills. The best thing was the magical shared garden. Nights out there on the lawn overlooking Grasmere were just perfect. We’re already hoping to rebook.

  • "A comfortable apartment."

Well equipped. Fantastic location with lots of footpaths next to the property. Very quiet and peaceful away from the centre of Grasmere which is what we like. 10/15 Minute Walk to Centre of Grasmere. Area served by a fantastic selection of public transport which helped us with linear walks and meant we could park the car at Ramblers Roost and forget about it.

  • "Only thing I would say is that the hot water Is not adequate enough to be able to run a bath which I was disappointed about."

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry if you had an issue with the hot water, we would have loved the opportunity to have rectified this for you during your stay. We have had an electrician round to the property to look into the hot water who has now set it to be on 60 degrees at all times. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. Property Owner

  • "The accommodation was part of a large former dwelling so to be able to use the large garden was a bonus."

Ramblers Roost is perfect for couples being large enough and being equipped and decorated to a high standard. A big plus also was the car parking space outside the front door. The views from the terrace over Grasmere lake are stunning with an added bonus of Red Squirrels present in the garden. We would definitely return at some point to Ramblers Roost and would not hesitate in recommending it to others.

  • "Lovely property and is a lovely little cottage but the smell of mould was awful Especially in the bedroom and there was mould in the kitchen also."

I have asthma and really struggled at night as the smell was so strong I could taste it. Other than that it would have been a perfect stay.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that you found there to be a smell of mold. It is a shame that you did not mention anything at the time as we could have looked to help if we were made aware. The cleaner has not noticed any smell since or prior to your booking and cannot find any mold. The property has circulation vents fitted and has never had any mold issues reported before but the cleaner will keep check on this. We hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise. Property Owner

We hardly used the car all week. The cottage has everything you need and is well equipped for dealing with muddy boots and wet clothes. Grasmere is a 15 min walk and has enough shops, cafes etc. All in all a great week.

Thank you for your feedback. Due to the area that the property is in there are no kerbside collections for recycling. There is information provided in the cottage to advise where to recycle locally. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Lovely, clean apartment in a great location. Some great walks available direct from the front door. Only a short drive from the neighbouring Langdale valley. Pleasant walk into the center of Grasmere with a good selection of bars and shops. Saw red squirrels and red deer in the gardens around the apartment.

  • "This is a beautiful, clean and comfortable cottage ideal for one or two people."

It has been furnished with care and has absolutely everything needed for a holiday in the lakes, including books and information about the area. Also a starter pack of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits which was greatly appreciated. Being on my own it was nice knowing there were people around in the other apartments and I got to know a few who were very friendly and doing a lot of walking like myself. And what a perfect position for walking! I left the car once I arrived and did not use it again. There are so many walks from the door, and the bus service just down the hill is superb and punctual. The grounds are amazing too, with so many birds to see and listen to, and the wonderful red squirrels who come daily to the feeder on the tree right by the terrace. Sitting on the terrace in the evening, listening to the birds and looking down over the lake was a real treat. I hope to visit again.

The place was cosy and had everything we needed. Parking was good. We wish we had booked a few more days. I would definitely follow the directions from the email as we used the postcode and ended up getting the car stuck down a dirt track. • "This was a small but very comfortable apartment in a beautiful location."

It was a little difficult to find, but due to horrendous traffic problems on the M6 we didn't arrive until midnight. There are, however, great walks right from the garden gate and it's possible to walk into Grasmere itself. At the bottom of the hill on which the apartment is sited is Dove Cottage which was the home of poet William Wordsworth.

Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.
