“We had a wonderful holiday - out accommodation was lovely but was let down by a few cleaning issues ( oven not clean and some utensils dirty) There was also 2 blinds broken and some mould at the back of the wardrobe in the on- suite which should have been attended to prior to our visit.”
Shame because everything else is great, we loved the place and we had a comfortable and very pleasant stay. Would be more than happy to return if these issues were addressed.

“Lack of kitchen/dining equipment e.”
G no wineglasses, no chopping board or scissors etc dishwasher not washing properly and main oven door had large gap at top so impossible to heat up and use. Window blind in twin bedded room inoperative. Cleanliness well below par I.e crockery and cutlery had to be washed before using. Bathroom toilet underside of seat dirty.- Dr Mills, April 2019
“Upon arrival we could not find the heating controls as there was no 'information book' telling you where everything was.”
We contacted the owner who said he only bought it as an investment and didn't know much about it. Some basic things were missing from the kitchen like scissors and a chopping board. The description says Sky TV, aparently this had not been updated because there was none. The outside spaces were full of pine needles (from the overhanging tree) but no effort had been made to clean the outside spaces (or the windows). Inside, the blind in the kitchen was broken, the remote for the fire had no batteries in it, there was lots of mould in the main bedroom wardrobe, the windows were not cleaned from the previous occupants as there were marks on the windows, then the third night we were there, the electricity went off. Apparently sometimes if you use too much power it trips out (we weren't using much at the time). Lots of finishing off works & painting needs doing to this place.- Mr Pippin, April 2019
“Really lovely property and the park itself clean and great amenities child and adult friendly”- Mrs Kelly, March 2019
“The accommodation was of an excellent standard.”
The staff on-site could not have been more helpful. Would highly recommend staying here.- Mrs Barnard, March 2019
“Was an absolutely brilliant lodge!”
10/10 would book again.- Mr Boardman, December 2018

We were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful log cabin that awaited us, very clean, beautifully presented, very pleased- Mrs Cann, September 2018
“The cabin was lovely just lacking kitchen utensils and cooking dishes, only half ...”
The cabin was lovely just lacking kitchen utensils and cooking dishes, only half the lighting ,bulbs, in the kitchen and lounge where working and the remote for the electric fire in lounge would not work maybe it just needed a new battery but central heating was very good once we had rung the owner to find out how it works These were little annoyances and should not take away how nice the cabin is It was great having two bathrooms with loo's, a dishwasher, washer/dryer and wifi The park grounds are very good the complex is nice but far far too small for the amount of units on the site we have never been anywhere where you have to book a swimming session and then it is only for 45 mins and unless your an owner the first session is at 10am and the last 4pm or earlier the gym looked ok but did not open until 9am and again shuts early this is no good for people who like to get up and get going We did try the food which was not good the fork would not go into the veg cauli and brocc the meat pie was gravy with very little meat and a lump of puff pastry plonked on top the pasta was nice so we only used it the one time So sadly because of the small complex we would not go back to this Park Dean site- Mrs French, September 2018
“The equipment in the cottage for self catering was minimal for 6 people.”
For example 4 place mats and no dishes for oven cooking. One 2 seater and one 3 seater settee- fortunately we had brought a deck chair with us. The systems on the holiday park for booking activities were chaotic, we were only able to book 2 swimming sessions because of poor information and over booking by reception staff.- Mrs Mckenna, July 2018
“Fantastic accomodation as advertised.”
Quality lodge, comfortable, clean and with everything we needed including parking for 2 cars. Very overlooked but able to close blinds and curtains. Really enjoyed our stay - 4 adults, 1 child and a dog.- Mrs Smith, July 2018
“The Lodge was excellent, very clean and comfortable and the site was super and was particularly quiet during the week, which we liked.”
The only thing I would say is that we went in a party of 6 adults and the smallest, twin-bedded room was very disppointing compared to the other two bedrooms - particularly the master suite which was huge. Really the third bedroom is only suitable for children - there was no wardrobe and the only storage was high up above the beds meaning you would have to stand on the bed to access it which isn't suitable for those of us in the older population. Maybe it should be advertised to reflect this? We had a very enjoyable, hassle free stay so all in all we were very pleased - but next time please arrange some better weather please!- Mrs Bonner, June 2018
“Always use Sykes, never had any problems.”
Whitecross bay is a wonderful resort, I’ve been holidaying here for 3 years now and can’t wait to go back again.- Mrs Millea, April 2018
“Area very peaceful and staff very helpful”- Mr Palmer, March 2018
“Best weekend in the loveliest lodge”- Miss Harrison, March 2018
“Bigger changing rooms at the pool.”
Also more room when waiting to change shoes.Everything else was A1 The grandchildren enjoyed exploring the lake area and the woods .Thanks for a lovely holiday .- Miss Kneeshaw, July 2017
“45 Calgarth was clean and spacious with everything needed for a holiday in the lakes -including an area for dog walking on site.”
Yes there were toilet rolls...but you never seem to have enough so left 2! We took my disabled parents who I knew could manage the few steps up to the veranda and once inside they found it very easy . good place to access the lakes. Dog friendly -wouldn't like to be there in height of summer though as too many lodges on site.- Ms Depledge, July 2017
