  • "You met expectations because I have stayed with you before and properties are always of the highest standard."

  • "I think the apartments could be a bit warmer or have blankets in the apartment to help keep warm instead of using the heating."

  • "Very comfy accomodation."

  • "The holiday apartments were excellent: well-designed, well-equipped and well-maintained."

Cooking facilities and equipment were above average, while there was plenty of useful storage space available. Bathroom and decor have been updated nicely since the complex was built. There are good restaurants nearby which offer a discount to visitors to the apartments. The location is excellent for Ambleside and the Lakes, although walkers will find nearby routes are limited and one needs to travel to get to the best locations. However the steamer terminal is easily reached and this increases possibilities. Information provided on the website was excellent, but I was driven mad by the unnecessarily frequent and irritating advertising e-mails I received from Sykes between booking and going on this holiday. I don't mind receiving one e-mail per month from any relevant company, but getting several each week is just infuriating and makes me not want to re-book with this company. I could find no option to reduce the mailing frequency other than completely unsubscribing.

About the location

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
