  • "We loved our short stay, the children especially enjoyed being on a farm with the animals."

The cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. Location was also good as it was relatively close to places we wanted to visit. Fabulous stay, would recommend.

It is really nice having families and children who are interested in the animals and the farm Property Owner

  • "We had no real issues with the cottage - it provided just what we required."

The smells and sounds of the farm were ever-present, buy that was only to be expected. Maybe a little more storage facilities in bedrooms? Getting even one car into the space in front of the cottage was a bit tricky, and we didn't attempt two. Would it be possible to widen the approach by in-filling between the drive and the house?

Thanks for this feedback customers can choose whether they want to park right up to the holiday cottage door or they are very welcome to park in the large farm yard. We will examine the possibility of infilling the approach ramp so it will take 3 cars if needed. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic location with beautiful scenery and amazing walks from the doorstep."

Owners were happy to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Gosforth is a lovely little village about a mile away. One of the dogs took a disliking to our dog, which made it slightly awkward entering and leaving the site.

  • "The frequent loud barking from the several kennelled dogs close to the holiday cottage was a continual irritant."

We would not recommend the cottage and will not be booking it again.

We would be very disappointed if our dogs did not respond to intruders and very occasionally they will take a dislike to holiday makers dogs but this is very unusual. This is a lovely place for dogs with big areas where they can run free and I was very disappointed to hear of Mrs Kays experience as it is not a common problem with us. All our dogs are very friendly and love to get stroked and patted. Property Owner

  • "We arrived at Bleng Cottages mid afternoon and the first thing we noticed was no Hot Tub."

When I contacted the owners I was told that it had been broken over the weekend and a replacement would be put in on the Tuesday. We had no prior contact from the owner to inform us of this, which would have been a nice jesture. Hot tub finally arrived o. The Wednesday so we managed to use it Wednesday night, and only for a couple of hours as it had a leak as part was broken/missing. That was it it for that. As this was one of the features that was offered, this is why we booked the cottage. The facilities in the cottage were OK, please be aware that the bedrooms are in the eaves so watch your heads. Very handy for local emenities with village about a mile away. Good pubs with decent food. On the whole we had a good and relaxing time let down only by not having the hot tub all week apart from the two hours Wednesday night. We were offered a couple of free nights but as we had work on the Sunday we weren't able to accept.

Cottage perfectly equipped for a walking holiday with dogs and is very comfortable. The hot tub a lovely bonus! It’s on a working farm so expect all that comes with that - dogs and cows etc. Perfect location for exploring the western lakes. Would definitely recommend! The Gosforth Inn is only a 15 minute walk from cottage, very welcoming and great food.

Good food in nearby dog friendly pubs. Hot tub is a great facility with beautiful scenery. Breathtaking views of one of the lakes and surrounding mountains 6 miles from cottage. Knowledge of the local area and trips from owner of Gosforth Hall Inn, lovely food there too.

  • "Lovely place, great location."

Not as enclosed as I thought (based on previous reviews) so was abit difficult with a toddler wanting to see the horses and then having tractors on the other side. Apple courtyard is lovely and enclosed but needs a tidy up with all the nettles. Property was lovely, would suggest a deep clean as there was a lot of mess between the sofas and flies everywhere which cannot be helped but a clean would help. Providing handwash, kitchen towels and more toilet roll would be great. Overall we had a fantastic time, hot tub was great and clean… Lovely people around the farm aswell. Woods/ stream to the left and Seascale beach so close by! Had an amazing time! Thank you

We enjoyed the stay and Gosforth is a good base for Western Lakes . The access to good dog walking up the valley helpful . Hot tub great . A sunshade or parasol would be good in these strange very hot days! Fencing in the area round the hot tub so dog could be secure would have been a benefit as we unable to leave door open due to our dog as we did not want him straying into the busy farm operation. A really good let and although not the cheapest we felt it was very good overall. Thanks!

  • "The property is very tired and needs a lot of updating."

It was relatively clean but had lots of spiders webs everywhere and looks like a leaking toilet downstairs. There was no hand wash/soap in the property and no blind put up in the third bedroom. When we asked for this to be remedied the owner was unhelpful/rude but sent someone evebtually. I think this property is overpriced but the hot tub was nice.

When we arrived it was dark there were lights outside and the tree was lit in the patio door, it looked very magical. The cottage was warm and very clean on entry, it was just absolutely perfect , we had the best Christmas and amazing week. Being on a working farm was amazing to see all the hard work put in. • "The cottage was very comfortable, but not very clean."

As soon as we arrived we had to vacuum up cobwebs and spider sacks that were very obvious. The kitchen was well equipped, but the freezer needed defrosting. There were more than enough towels. The hot tub was wonderful and much appreciated after a day's walking. It was close to Wasdale and the walks around that area, including Scafell Pike. The owners were friendly and there was a little orchard that we were free to pick apples and plums from. The apples were delicious. The cottage is in a farm yard with the accompanying sights, smells and sounds, which we didn't mind at all, but others may not enjoy these so much. There were a lot of flies, but that's to be expected in a farm yard and didn't bother us too much. Upstairs there are sloped ceilings in all the rooms, so beware any tall people! This cottage suited our needs as we were out walking all day and just wanted somewhere comfortable to sleep in. It wouldn't be a suitable choice for those who have young children as there is no outdoor play area. The WiFi connection was great in the morning, but a bit hit and miss in the evening. The village is within easy walking distance and the bakery has the most amazing sausage rolls and meat pies! We had great weather and enjoyed our visit to the beautiful Lake District.

The cushions and throws should have been removed as they did not look clean and were very worn looking. We removed from the leather looking sofa and cleaned down the sofa before using. Did not use the other sofa at all... There are no wardrobes in any of the bedrooms, only a low rail fitted on low beam which resulted in some clothes trailing on the floor. Only one small cupboard in the kitchen for food storage, not really adequate as some food had to be left on the window sill.. The outside space shown in the photos was very overgrown and not suitable for use, and dog mess which had not been cleaned up!!!

  • "The main problem was down stairs was very tired."

The three piece suite was very old, in a poor condition and uncomfortable. The dining table was made up with legs of one table and the top of another ,it was easy to catch your knees when sitting down. The crockery and cooking equipment ,baking trays ect were made up of oddments, nothing matched. There was no cupboard space to store any food stuffs, food had to be kept on a work surface This caused a problem as the work surfaces were very limited and this made it dificult to dish up a meal. There is a fridge freezer to store frozen and chilled foods. The floor is very scratched and need looking at. Up stair was in very good condition ,beds were comfortable and linen provided was good and clean. There is a height issue with low beams as the bedrooms are in the eaves. Access to the property is up a very steep incline and would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.( Picture of accomodation does not show how steep the incline is.) The decoration through out was in good condition and the owner lives on site and is available if there any problems. The local area has very good places to eat and many nice places to visit.
