The lodge had everything we could need to make our stay comfortable. The hot tub was a little luxury and beds were very comfortable. Thank you for a lovely stay .

Also, we could have done with a mop to clean the floor but there was none within the apartment. Lastly, the utensils needs replacing.

  • "We had a lovely stay at the lodge."

It was very clean and tidy. The beds were super comfortable and the hot tub was one of the best we have had. The temperature was perfect. The only downside was the sofa. It was covered over with blankets to cover up a stained grey corner settee which was very used and uncomfortable and not big enough for more than max 5 people at a push. Saying that though apart from that it was a fabulous stay and we would definitely book again.

There was 7 adults and we didn’t feel cramped at all, the hot tub was a bonus and was used every day, the only negative we had was there was only one bathroom but we made it work. It was so lovely of them to leave us fresh towels and the little things like washing up liquid, clothes and bags. We will definitely book this lodge again

The main issue with the comfort points to the sofa which is uncomfortable at best, however the beds were very comfortable. There was an overhead bed light in the first bedroom which didn't appear to be working also and the handheld part of the shower system leaks slightly when in use. These points aside, the property was well maintained and made for a welcome week away for myself and my family.

I would recommend however that the property was spruced up a bit, it’s looking very tired. Cleanliness wasn’t great either, dead flies all over the ceiling in the bathroom, a Coke can full of cigarette butts left by the hot tub presumably from previous guests, deck not swept etc. Expected more for the price, which was too high

  • "I feel a lot of the recent reviews have been a bit unfair."

I was a bit reluctant to book at first because of them but I am glad I did. The lodge itself is a bit tired, but it is clean and well equipped. We where a group of two adults and three teenagers so was plenty of room, but think would have been a bit of a squeeze with 7 ! I did not experience any discomfort with the couch and the beds where really comfortable. We did cook while we where there and instructions of how to use the hob and cooker would have been useful but we worked it out after a while. The hot tub was great we used it lots. It was clean/hot and roomy and was maintained everyday by a member of staff . We had no issues with the proximity of the bin shed that has been mentioned in some reviews in fact if it wasn’t mentioned I wouldn’t have known it was there !! The park is great the pub/restaurant is very dog friendly and nice we eat there a few times. We got passes to use the pool but only used it once but it was ok. There is a bus stop just outside the park to take you to Ambleside/Windermere/Kendal and beyond but be aware they only run until about 8/9 pm. Overall we had a lovely chilled holiday and I would recommend Owls Nook Lodge.

I spoke to a young guy called Luke and followed up with photos. I have had NO response at all. The lodge was very, very tired, wallpaper falling off inside, large cobwebs in corners. dirty and blown windows. Cramped for space. Outside was worse.... whilst it had a hot tub as advertised, this was not a pleasant experience, the lodge is next to the public bins and then a view of the dilapidated shed right next to the tub, meant flies everywhere and a grubby view. The lighting on the deck was filthy. I am surprised you even advertise this lodge. I am more surprise that you didn't even respond to my complaint but you did send me a message to say... We hope that we have now resolved your situation, with reference number COR-325466-CF

Up on first glance of the lodge it stood out from the rest in row, it’s tired, old and in need of a little love, the exterior is worn and could do with a little updating. The hot tub too, bit grubby and put family members off going in completely. Inside on arrival there was a very strong sewerage smell in the bathroom, I contacted Sykes who sorted this fairly swiftly. Inside the kitchen is lovely well equipped everything available. As previously read the reviews I’m sorry to say the sofa is uncomfortable, smells slightly too. The beds were ok and everyone slept well until our 2 days before due to leave the sound of mice or rats noring underneath the lodge in the middle of the night, this Completely put us off and we left a day early. There is a bin store next to the lodge and quiet often would see both mice and rats running around, I understand this is to be expected with water and bins but it seems to be a problem. Overall we had nice stay however wouldn’t book this particular lodge again.

The smell of raw sewage in the back bedroom was really bad (luckily we didn't have to sleep in that one) 2. There was a lot of black mould in the cupboard where the hoover was, which you could smell throughout the lodge 3. The "tiles" in the shower were slightly lifting in places 4. Maybe cleaning behind the cushions on the sofa would be a good idea as I put my hand down the back to look for my little girls dummy and there was a piece of god knows what down there. • "Me and my partner booked to stay here for 4 days Monday to Friday in May."

Cabin was lovely and clean and communal rooms were big. Advertises it sleeps 6 adults but honestly feel like it would've been quite tight with 6 people in, but for just us two it was fine. Living/kitchen area was spacious and very modern. The highlight for us was definitely the hot tub, which is available to use between 10am-10pm. The site itself has a pub/restaurant but it is on the pricier side. Location is great, only a short car or bus journey to Ambleside and Windermere and there are bus stops just outside the site gates. There are pool facilities but we didn't end up using them as the hot tub was enough for us. Only downside was the wallpaper was peeling a bit on two of the bedrooms. I'd definitely recommend this lodge for someone visiting the lakes for the first time (like us) or just fancying a relaxing hot tub stay.

However, I can honestly say that this was the most disappointing stay we’ve ever had. We arrived late and went straight to the site restaurant which was fab. My son went to get into bed to discover blood on the quilt cover. Clearly the bed hadn’t been changed and considering the late check in time of 4pm I very much doubt that any of the beds had been changed. Sykes assisted us the following morning and I asked for all beds to be changed. Sykes contacted me back to say that someone was coming out to change the one soiled bed. Not at all impressed with this. The hot tub was cold till the second night. I appreciate that it’s cleaned out but to have already wasted a whole day was disappointing. It was never ‘hot’ and after half an hour you had to get out as it definitely wasn’t warm enough to stay in. The third day we were having my daughter come but had to turn her away due to the stench coming from the boiler cupboard in the smallest room ( with the bunk bed) it smelt like the sewers and was awful. On the day we arrived the window in that room was open and we couldn’t understand why, now it was obvious. I contacted Sykes and they said they’d send someone out but it wasn’t worth it as we were going home early. A real disappointment in all. The couch needs replacing as it’s so un comfy and the lodge could do with a clean outside.. I don’t think this lodge is big enough for 7 people though as it was a bit of a squeeze. A shame really as it could have been nice

It met those expectations perfectly. In general the property presents really well, it is absolutely perfectly located. The staff on site as well as the online customer service team were all fantastic and I can not fault them. We enjoyed using the on-site swimming pool and walking through the woods and along by the lake. You can walk along the road as well and there is a huge play park for the kids. It is a short 15minute drive to Rydal Caves which I highly recommend. The hot tub was great when we got in, the handles were not attached which if you were a single person would make it hard to open. Luckily my partner was able to open it. Inside the beds are in desperate need of replacing, very uncomfortable as was the sofa. There is water damage in the lounge and bedrooms. The fire in the front room does not function, one of the buttons is just glued on. The drains are backed up so there was an almighty stench daily in the property. Predominately in the back bedroom and bathroom. The kettle was broken. I reported the issues via email and I was so impressed by the response of Fran from customer service who replaced the kettle straight away and called me to go through my other concerns which she was following up with the owners. She really was fantastic and we are so grateful. The property isn’t bad, it’s just tiered and needs a few little modifications. Wonderful location.

The lodge itself would benefit from a little updating, nothing major but there is a nasty dint/gouge in the shower wall and the bedroom blinds are a little tired and in need of replacement. The proximity of the lodge to the bins (especially the hot tub, which just becomes unpleasant when you're being bombarded by critters) causes a real issue with flies so perhaps providing some repellant candles or something of that ilk would help - we ended up buying buying a fly swatter. All in all, we love it at White Cross Bay (I must be about our tenth stay there) and enjoyed our break. Although probably not at this specific lodge, I hope we will return in the future.

The lounge, kitchen and bathroom had been refurbished and looked nice but the bedrooms need a complete overhaul. Having said that, the sofa has seen better days and ruins the refurbished look. The smell of damp from the wardrobes meant we had to leave doors open all of the time to ensure our clothes didn’t smell, the blinds were mostly broken and the quality of the bedding was awful. The duvet covers were all bobbly and there was a drawer missing from one of the bedrooms. The hot tub was lovely although the fairy lights were hit and miss if they would work making it a dark area at night. The wifi was non existent - we couldn’t access the Amazon prime or Netflix on the TV as the wifi didn’t work. This didn’t ruin our stay but in this day and age, it should work.

A couple of things missing from the kitchen that would have been useful, a small vegetable/chopping knife, a measuring jug and a different potato peeler, the one in the cabin was like a weapon of torture. Somewhere to store coats would be good too as we had to hang wet/damp coats on the bedroom door, which didn't help with the already damp area. Couldn’t connect and I phoned Sykes how promised to look into it and come back to me - they didn’t. Even tthe Wi-fi at the Boathouse is poor unless you are sat in the middle of the venue. When the mobile phone signal is so weak too (3 and o2), the Park really needs to invest in upgrading this and supplying all lodges. It really should be a pre-requisite these days. Other than the Wi-fi - a great time has by all.

Thank you for your review on Owls Nook a privately owned lodge, we are pleased to hear you had a wonderful stay. The WIFI is a complimentary service provided by the holiday park (Parkdean Resorts) which is only suitable for page browsing and sending emails. Quality and reliability of connection will vary based on the number of people using it, prevailing weather conditions and therefore may be limited or slower than you are used to. We have brought the issue of the reliability of this service to the attention of the Park Management who are looking into this further. Property Owner

  • "Recently home from a 4 night stay in Owls Nook."

The lodge was really nice and in a fantastic location. Park seemed quite quiet although amenities were open and other guests were being very respectful of social distancing. We were all very comfortable in the lodge and most things we needed were provided. I would ensure you bring your own hand soap, washing up liquid and extra dishtowels. We used the hot tub every day and although there was a small issue on the first night this was dealt with really quickly and efficiently. Thank you for that! My only recommendation would be to provide an additional bath mat as all 5 of us were in and out the shower regularly and it got really wet after the first day or two and was difficult to dry! • "We stayed here for a week as a family of 5/6 (6 for one night luckily) for new year with 2 other families staying in other lodges."

On arrival the lodge was dirty. First thing I did was sweep the floor and go to the on-site shop for cleaning products and to clean the windows (could barely see through them with all the dirty marks on them). On making drinks the glasses were filthy and had to be washed before being used, on further checking all the dishes were dirty with bits of food stuck to them. Utensils were minimum, knives were useless. Laminate flooring throughout but no mop. Went to use the ironing board it fell to pieces, phoned the maintenance and they brought mop and new ironing board. There was a note from the team to let us know we needed to keep checking the boiler pressure as it keep dropping. All the wardrobes smelt damp. The 3rd bedroom was tiny, you have to climb over the steps for the bunk bed to get to the bottom bed, no wardrobe (boiler in there) tv smallest in memory of man. • "We stayed for 4 nights at owls nook it's a lovely little lodge but I think it could do with abit of a refurbishment as you can tell in some areas that it is one of the older lodges."

I also noticed that I dont think our toilet had been cleaned which was abit of a disappoinment and felt abit uncomfortable. The other was we had abit of trouble with the door to the lodge, it's not very secure even when locked. The beds are abit hard too so you dont get a very good night's sleep. We would defo book again but maybe not for this lodge. Everything was only minor bad points the main thing was the toilet not being clean but apart from that the location is perfect and we had a really nice time, I would defo be returning and defo recommend to others. The lodge itself was lovely, spacious and very clean. The owners had kindly provided a lot of utensils for us to use also. The lodge location was only a 10 minute walk from the lake and only a 2 minute walk to the reception area. We visited in the winter however there was outside seating which we cannot wait to use in the summer. We will definitely be returning and staying in owls nook lodge. Thank you for reading! • "Well.looked after lodge and comfortable everything was supplied."

Slight issue with cleaning on arrival but solved immediately and resolved efficiently. My opinion it's only really for 4 ppl even tho it's 3 bedroomed it's a tight squeeze when all in lounge and to all sit round dining table you have to pull it out from wall and make sure everyone sat down as impossible to move round. Overall we had a lovely time staying in playing games as we had 2 children with us. Did try the boathouse pub on site 1 night but very small for size of site (would be tight squeeze in there in summer). What did you enjoy most about your stay? The whole break was enjoyable What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? We enjoyed the boat trip from bowness to ambleside

  • "We were pleasantly surprised with the general condition of the lodge."

Never having been to the site before we were made to feel welcome by the site staff. The whole booking procedure and following details were very comprehensive and straight forward. The only problem we encountered was- how to operate the electric hob(having been gas hob users). Eventually, with the help of the site maintenance staff, we managed to get it working. The only other minor inconvenience was the freezer door, which had been damaged prior to our arrival. The hot tub was a delight and was immaculately clean and well maintained .Over-all we had a a relaxing weekend break and look forward to re-booking Owl's Nook Lodge in the not too distant future. We will also recommend it to our friends. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Hot tub. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? • "The lodge is compact but comfortable and set up with pretty much everything needed."

I'd be hesitant to say it slept 6 adults as we were a party of 5 and that was pretty much at maximum as far as space and comfort is concerned. Clean rooms with plenty of towels and a nicely done shower room. The hot tub was amazing!! Piping hot on arrival and just the cherry on the cake! The led lights weren't working on the hot tub which was a shame as it would have been nice at night. We enjoyed breakfast on the decking each morning which was lovely! The lodge provided everything we needed for a comfortable break..hot tub was excellent. The lodge was a short distance away from the swimming pool and restaurant/bar. Lake Windermere is 10 mins drive away. Whilst staying here we ate out at the pub, both in Whitecross bay and at nearby Limefitt. Meals were tasty and affordable. We did have a small issue with the drain in the shower which was quickly sorted by maintenance. What did you enjoy most about your stay? the hot tub!
