  • "Admirals Cottage was absolutely perfect for our NYE celebration."

The owner was very helpful in advance and also provided a helpful guide to how things worked and also attractions/restaurants in the area. The house was very well equipped and had plenty of rooms and seating for our amount of guests. We had a total of 17 people 9 of which were children and there was plenty to keep them entertained and lots of places for them to play hide and seek. The house was very clean and when we needed something during our stay Claire was very helpful in dropping it to us. The hot tub was a great addition, not there when we booked but we used it in the morning and at night. We loved our stay and the house helped to create happy memories xx

  • "We had a fantastic stay as a large family group over Christmas at this fab property."

The owners couldn't have been more helpful in advance, getting back to us quickly in response to questions and providing a brilliant info pack about the house and surrounding area. The house is really well set up for large groups, with a very well equipped kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, space for socialising and a huge dining table. And the added bonus of the hot tub was an awesome Christmas present! There are lots of lovely little touches to make your stay even better, including a great selection of games, nice toiletries and a lovely welcome pack of goodies. Local shops, pubs and restaurants are all a short walk away. Thanks so much for a lovely stay, we would definitely come back in the future.

  • "Lovely large home wonderfully decorated and really well appointed for a large group."

Lots of facilities in kitchen great for cooking large meals. Hot tub a wonderful bonus. One or two small maintenance issues as mentioned - toilet seat and also some door handles twisted off so door difficult to shut eg master bedroom. Didn’t impact stay though. Overall great stay with helpful attentive hosts. Would recommend.

  • "My time at The Admiral's Home was amazing."

A beautiful, newly renovated space that can fit a large family or group of friends! The home is next to a large Morrisons where you can do all the shopping you need, and I also signed up to the local gym for the days I was visiting; both within walking distance. I will definitely be coming back to Whitehaven and The Admiral's Home in the near future!

The owners couldn’t be more helpful in making sure everything was in place for our staying, answering questions and making sure we had everything we needed. We will be back for sure and would highly recommend anyone to try this place, perfect for family and friend gatherings and celebrations.

The property

Ideally positioned in the delightful coastal town of Whitehaven, Cumbria; one of just fifty-one ‘Gem Towns’ in the whole of Britain and a short short drive to Ennerdale Lake in the Lake District National Park.

This is a stunning, newly-refurbished eight-bedroom property, The Admiral’s Home. Welcoming a total of sixteen guests with potential for a further two, the home has been decorated to a high standard throughout with well proportioned rooms tastefully re-furbished with an enclosed garden.

The Admiral’s Home is the perfect base for your next getaway in Cumbria offering not only the Lakes but a coastal experience also, whether fishing or hiring a boat for the day.

Due to its luxurious and classical fittings The Admiral’s Home suits particularly well for family celebrations, gatherings and small wedding ceremonies.

Cross the threshold into your new abode, ready to kick back and relax in the inviting sitting room, well-adorned with a large sofa and Smart TV so you and your loved ones can enjoy movie nights or play games until the night rolls in.

Once the children have gone to bed enjoy the tastefully crafted Library room or ‘brandy room’ as it’s become to be known for a night cap; equipped with card table, chess board, sinking leather, chesterfield armchairs and a drinks cabinet to accompany. In the well-equipped kitchen, allow the budding chef to rustle up culinary delights before settling down at the dining table to tuck in over a cold bottle of fizz; alternatively, if the weather permits, why not venture outside to saviour an alfresco feast in amongst your lovely surroundings, perhaps a barbecue?

Alternatively, spend an evening in the hot tub, unwinding and stargazing into the night.

Pop corks until sundown and plan your itinerary before retreating back inside to indulge a long soak or warm shower in one of several stunning bathroom or shower rooms, ready to curl up in your chosen bedroom; comprising of either super-king-sizes, king-sizes or single beds, each are elegantly-finished with their own blend of antique, bespoke and contemporary furnishings so you can experience a touch of luxury. If you can tear yourself away, head into the centre of Whitehaven where you can delight in a relaxing stroll around the Marina or enjoy a coastal walk while watching the sunset over the Irish Sea.

The Georgian town has over 200 listed buildings, over a dozen pubs to explore and a wide selection of culinary experiences.

Eat at Vagabond, Casa Aroma, The Georgian Townhouse or Zest Habourside; enjoy a trip to The Rum Story, Jefferson’s Shop or immerse yourself in history at The Beacon Museum and admire the impressive North Pier Lighthouse.

The town offers light entertainment in the evenings as well, don’t forget to check out what’s on at the Rosehill Arts Theatre or The Solway Hall whether a comedy night, theatre production or music show.

A day at the beach is also on the cards if the weather permits, with the superb Whitehaven beach located only a short walk from your doorstep or the award-winning St. Bees Beach resting just a scenic drive away.

Both offer the perfect spot to paddle the shores or simply soak up the sun. Take part in the Coast to Coast Cycle challenge or practise your swing at Whitehaven Golf Club, which resides only a short distance away.

Alternatively, you can travel to the Lake District National Park, with all its delights to offer including Scale Force Waterfall, Windermere and Ullswater, as well as the challenging peaks of Scafell Pile and Helvellyn, if you’re seeking something a little more strenuous.

For all of this and so much more, secure your stay at The Admiral’s Home.

About the location

WHITEHAVEN

Saint Bees 4.6 miles; Seaton 9.5 miles; Bowness-on-Windermere 49.8 miles.

The West Cumbrian town of Whitehaven is situated on the coast between the sparkling sea and the Lakeland Fells. It was one of the first ‘planned’ towns in England and today can boast almost 250 Listed Georgian buildings and some beautiful parks and gardens. Today the town’s harbour is a designated conservation area and visitors can learn about the town’s history at the excellent Beacon Heritage Centre. The surrounding coastline has much to offer, not least its old smugglers villages, such as Ravenglass, and the red sandstone cliffs of pretty St Bees - now the start of Wainwright’s famous “Coast to Coast” Walk. Meanwhile inland you can enjoy the tranquillity of the Western lakes: Ennerdale, Loweswater, Crummock, Buttermere and Wastwater. Ennerdale is perhaps the most peaceful of all the lakes, with no public roads running along its National Trust owned shoreline.

Please note: The front of the property is currently being renovated and is likely to last till the 30th of January 2024, which includes scaffolding, only the exterior front is effected
