The property

Perched in the picturesque village of Whittington, on the border of Lancashire / Cumbria , rests the charming stone built holiday home converted from an old diary dating back to 1758, Cross House Cottages, the ideal setting for families.

The main cottage is Set over two floors, including a self-contained annex tucked away in the bottom of the garden, this beautiful cottage sleeps up to four adults and two children.

On arrival, you are welcomed with private parking space located on the driveway accessed from the main road, as well as a designated parking space at the rear, making loading and unloading an easy task.

Upon entering the property you will discover a delightful sitting room, here you can relax on the sumptuous corner sofa, with the glow of the log burner as you flick on the Smart TV.

Travel through the rustic doors, to find the farmhouse styled kitchen/diner sitting 6, boasting all of the necessary appliances to prepare heart-warming meals for your family and friends.

Venture up the beautifully carpeted stairs to find two of three bedrooms and a contemporary family bathroom, where you can unwind in the bath after an adventurous day of nature walking.

The king-sized bedroom is attractively lit by the window, providing a bright and vibrant feel to this good-sized room.

Rest and rejuvenate in the adjoining room, characterized with a beamed ceiling and single bed, which pulls out to make up another bed, perfect for the little ones.

Back on the ground-floor, the stylish patio doors in the sitting room lead out to a large enclosed, secure garden area, inviting you to step outside and savor an evening glass of wine in the peaceful setting.

Follow the path through the garden to explore the detached annex, ideal for an intimate escape, boasting a double bed, an en-suite shower and a kitchenette, catering to your morning coffee needs.

Take the stroll on the footpaths of Whittington Village to explore the striking architecture of the 12th century church or riverside stroll along the banks of the River Lune.

Just a stone's throw away is the historical market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, enjoy the local markets on a Thursday, venture around the boutiques, discover the towering arches of Devil's Bridge, Ruskins View and Radial steps, or treat yourself to a drink and a meal at one of the many bars and restaurants.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
