  • "Perfect location and lovely cottage for an extended family get together."

Great configuration of rooms and we had everything we needed for our stay. We hoped there would be some games and DVDs available but perhaps these were removed due to COVID. Very peaceful location. Only downside is the noise of the water pump when someone uses the loo in the night! Very clean and well equipped. Definitely recommend.

  • "Think all beds should be made up, we wanted to allocate rooms once we'd all arrived."

We found some bedding (but not all that was needed) and made up a couple of singles.

  • "The listing talks about a clean stylish residence."

In reality it is tired and tatty in places and needs a lot of TLC to justify the cost. The location is brilliant and the house has amazing potential. But not everyone wants to stay in a cottage with a reclamation yard literally on the doorstep. The oven had no real heat so even cooking pizza was a chore, the downstairs toilet had a fault and the Woodburner has a broken back board.the hot water supply was inconsistent and involved us leaving the house to press the override switch in the outhouse. Apparently they are awaiting a part. In fairness to the owner I gave her all of this feedback which she agreed with and said she was waiting for time between bookings to rectify the issues. If you are thinking of booking it, I'd check that she has done so. The 9am check out is also a joke. Fortunately we are a family that just gets on with things so we still had a fab weekend regardless.

My Feedback Thanks for your feedback and sorry we were waiting for items to repair the things you have mentioned. To give confidence to anyone looking to book, the cooker and downstairs bathroom have now been replaced with new and the boiler part arrived the following week and no longer requires any intervention. All of these things had broken just the week before your booking so it was impossible to repair quickly. The cost of the stays in our property reflects the standard and size of the property which was completely renovated in 2017. This is not a luxury stay but a beautiful large old farmhouse that offers great value for money for large groups in a brilliant location. Our 9 am check out is due to extra cleaning needed and the inevitable fact that things need to be repaired following stays. It's always difficult for weekend bookings where you are not arriving until later than 4 pm Friday evening and have to leave at 9am Sunday morning. With your booking, as I have with other holidays, I happily extended to 9.30 (our usual checkout is 10am). Glad you had a lovely weekend and sorry for your disappointment. Nikki Property Owner

  • "Checking out at 9am was very stressful as we had young children and it’s not easy to be ready so early having to strip beds etc and clear the kitchen."

Bit un realistic also can’t get in til 4 pm but still pay same money!

  • "The house was lovely big and spacious."

However cleanliness wasn't great, ok but not great for what we had paid and there was a real lack of hot water and water pressure and due to us being a large party we were unable to all shower and bathe, I think there was an problem with the water to be honest! Other than that we had a very enjoyable weekend.

Thank you for your feedback, We are sorry you experienced issues with the hot water during your stay. The owner has been to check the property and it appears the water pump had placed its self on standby. We are sorry you experienced this issue but it has all be rectified Property Owner

  • "Coars Farm was warm and welcoming, despite the snow outside."

The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen roomy and usefully kitted out and the bathroom large and spotlessly clean. Having a garden centre/café next door was a boon and we had a very good cooked breakfast one morning and lovely cakes and exceedingly good coffee at other times. Everyone we met was helpful and cheerful.. We are happy to recommend this property for any group gathering.

  • "Had a lovely stay at Coars Farm to celebrate a 60th Birthday."

The farm house was perfect for our large group of 9 adults , one baby and 2 dogs. A travel cot and high chair were provided for our youngest member. The house though huge was so very warm and cosy. There is a log burner in the main lounge but we didn’t need it. The large porch with racking is just right for coats and muddy boots and as a beer / wine store. It’s quirky as the house is on the same site as a garden centre/cafe and reclamation barn. Lots of parking and our dogs enjoyed exploring the grounds. The gates are locked from 5p.m but a key is supplied to get in and out. There is a double oven, though we couldn’t work out how to use the top one. The 2 fridges were great, we needed them both for our large party. We had a Tesco Food order delivered straight to the farm with no problem. All in all we had a really great celebration weekend at Coars Farm, and would definitely return.

  • "A great wee break at a lovely cottage."

The owner was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Some of the light fittings weren't working nor was the jacuzzi and the shower in the main bathroom was leaking, although the owner appeared to be aware of all of these faults. Hopefully they will be fixed soon. Very enjoyable overall but instructions on working the top oven would have been useful.
