  • "Couldn't ask for a better location for windermere and surrounding areas."

The cottage is lovely, clean and spacious. We had 4 couples stay and we didn't feel too cramped, plenty of space to socialise without being on top of each other. Just wish we had booked to stay for longer!!

  • "We enjoyed the cottage."

The only thing that didn’t work for us was the kitchen in the basement with quite steep stairs. It was very well equipped but the oven controls were very complicated. The underfloor heating was excellent for drying washing. Excellent location. Park with modernised play area and brilliant new bike ramps at one end, which kept our grandchildren well entertained, to the Co op and shops at the other. Parking was a bit inconvenient but adequate. Often meant going to retrieve the car and bring it nearer to house when a space.

  • "Lovely spacious house, even better that there was multiple bathrooms especially when there are 8 people sharing."

On street parking was bit of a challenge in the week but got a good space at the weekend. Would definitely recommend and the host was incredibly helpful.

  • "I felt that the property was not clean."

All settees were covered in dog hair, the water in the bathrooms was very slow to drain. The table downstairs was permanently sticky not matter how many times we wiped it. The access to the front door was overgrown, to the point where it was difficult to pass. The location was very convenient . We had a pleasant stay but I will not be returning to this property.

  • "On arrival the house was not as clean as I would have expected: I had to wipe the kitchen sides before use."

Garden/ court yard was shabby and in need of attention. We knew that we only had one parking space along the road but never managed to get a space meaning we had to find 2 car parking spaces throughout the holiday. Only one set of keys provided, there is a key box outside front door but felt insecure leaving keys in it the whole time. It would have been really nice to have had recommendations from owners on local places to go/eat.

However there were a few little things , dripping taps, a sink that didnt drain . But overall we had a great stay thank you

7 of us stayed and we were all impressed with the house. We had one problem the fridge packed in and although the maintenance company were not as good as they could have been once the owner was involved the situation was resolved straight away and he could not have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend this house.

  • "We loved everything about this house, but notice a shortage of some kitchen items."

There were only 6 forks, not good for a house that accommodates 8 people, there were 7 of us. There was also a shortage of tumbler type glasses. And a little suggestion it would have been nice to have some champagne/Prosecco type glasses. Spare toilet rolls would also be appreciated.

  • "The house worked really well for us as we had three generations - spread over 4 floors there are plenty of rooms so everyone had space to do as they pleased - and the kitchen-diner was large enough to accommodate us all comfortably."

Being an old house the sound insultation was good so noise did not travel. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house comes with three TVs including Sky and BT Sports, a great hit with the young men in the house. The house is nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and generally well equipped - it felt like a home from home. Location wise, we had never stayed in Windermere before but really enjoyed the accessibility of the house to the local shops, it meant everyone was independent and able to shop/eat/drink without a car which was nice after spending the day walking. Parking, which I thought might be a bit tricky, was absolutely fine. We were always able to park outside the house with the permit and the other permit enabled us to park in the car park around the corner - where indeed there is also freely available parking on-street parking for non-permit holders - so if you have a third car that is no problem either. We would definitely return.

They were too soft and the support for the back when one lies down is not great.

  • "We all had a fantastic half term holiday in the property."

There were a few issues with the TV while we were there, Sykes were brilliant and very helpful in getting it replaced. There are lots of stairs! A really lovely location, Windermere has some lovely pubs and cafes and only 5 minutes drive to Bowness. The kids loved having a separate living room to us and the Grandparents too.

  • "The garden furniture needs replacing with sufficient and sturdy items."

Despite the hot weather the central heating was on and not apparently easy to switch off. The large oven was difficult to operate. The bbq does not seem to work well. Otherwise well equipped and well positioned property with plenty of space.

  • "Overall a nice place to stay with plenty of room for all the family."

There were a few things that I mentioned to the lady in the Windermere office. The one thing that was particularly bad was the strong smell of urine at the bottom of the basement stairs.

  • "This house is really lovely and we really enjoyed our stay."

The facilities are fab and there are enough bathrooms for the amount of people staying. The Kitchen/diner is really nice and in the basement, great for family meals. The house is spotless and and there is everything you need, we arrived to a basket with different jams etc. Its ideally situated and a nice walk into the centre. The only drawback is the bedrooms were quite cold at night but the weather was bad when we were there so this was definitely a factor, the heating was on all the time we were there. I would not hesitate in recommending this house to other people and would definitely stay here again. Thanks for making our stay really comfortable.

  • "I booked the house for my birthday celebration with 8 people, late 20s to early 30s."

The house lived up to and exceeded our expectations. Two living rooms, plenty of bathrooms, nice beds and a good kitchen / dining area gave us lots of options for socialising and general lounging about. It was warm, comfy and bang in the middle of a town with shops, restaurants and cosy pubs. The Albert, 5 minutes walk from the boat tours, is excellent for food, beer and service. Oh, yeah, there's also a big old pretty lake nearby. There are permits for 2 cars, but we managed fine on nearby roads / carparks for our extra car. We had a problem with the parking permits when we arrived, completely beyond the control of the owners / Sykes. The Sykes office went out of their way to fix the problem, and as their office is only 2 minutes walk from the house, it was easily solved. Excellent customer service. The oven is a bit complicated, but there is an instruction booklet in the house so we worked it out without too much fuss. Some of the kitchen stuff could do with replacing (can opener / garlic press) but if that is a deal breaker for your holiday you need to reassess your priorities. Overall this is a wonderful property in a wonderful location stocked with a wonderful range of wonderful bits and bobs to make your stay a good one. Pick Up Sticks was very much appreciated.

  • "The cottage cleanliness standard was lacking there were cobwebs on the light and under the sofa was filthy."

Also dropped something down the back of the bathroom cabinet and it came out full of hair not very pleasant. It was also full of confetti on the stairs for previous guests. There also needs to be more than one set of keys as the size of the property means you can have two families there and it’s not that secure where the keys are left when all your stuff is in the property.

  • "Everything about the holiday was wonderful from booking."

The only problems were: We had a problem with TV's as only one of the 3 worked. After a phone call engineer was very prompt but could not fix problem but was passing it on to be fixed. This did not spoil our stay though. There were dirty trays in oven (should have been checked by cleaners). Otherwise cleaning was up to standard. Would not stop us from booking or recommending this property to our friends.

  • "We absolutely loved the house and its location."

But there were a couple of things that may need looking at:- 1. The loo cistern in the bathroom on the first floor didnt flush without the cistern lid being removed and the button pressed in the cistern itself. 2. The door handle on the inside of the first floor double bedroom kept falling off. 3. All the bedroom curtain rails probably need attention as some of the curtains just fell off completely when pulled back. 4. The main oven was the most complicated thing any of us had ever seen! 5. Could have done with some oven gloves and perhaps a couple of larger saucepans in the kitchen. However we loved the house and thoroughly enjoyed our week. Thank you.
