It was exactly as advertised on the website. The lodge has everything you could possibly need and more, some lovely added extras. The lodge was extremely comfortable and made for a great base for exploring the surrounding areas. It is in a great position on the park, very close to the lakeside and easy to find from the reception area. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed plenty of time on the veranda where there was a great, private shaded area throughout the day for our little boy as well as sun all day on the front. We will be recommending this lodge to our friends and family as well as thinking of returning in the future.

  • "Recently stayed in Bosun's Lodge on White Cross Bay holiday park after booking through Lake District Holidays."

The cabin is in the 'Bowness' area of the park, where all the cabins are the wooden clad type. The location on the site was very quiet, but only a 2 minutes walk to the waters edge, and a 5 minute walk to the site reception which included the Boathouse bar and restaurant, and shop and swimming pool. Bosun's lodge is very modern inside, and fully equipped with everything you could need, from cooking utensils to appliances with a washing machine and dishwasher provided. The cabin was very clean and ready for our arrival. The little extras like coffee pods for the Nespresso machine and packets of sweets for the kids (teens) in our party were nice touches. The cabin also has a hot tub, which was ready for use, and we used each day. It is also positioned in a secluded area down the side and to the rear of the cabin, so its private. We only had one minor issue during heavy rain one day. The Electricity went off to the cabin, and after following the instructions to reset (in the handbook/file in the cabin), it would not come back on. I phoned the maintenance number and there was someone on site who came to look at the issue within minutes, and the electricity was back on. Included with the booking, was free use of a nearby health club for gym and swimming pool facilities, but we didn't use them. The site itself is very good, clean and most cars driving around respect the 5mph speed limit. We would definitely return to White cross Bay holiday park, and would definitely look to book this cabin again, as it was excellent and had everything we needed. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Using the hot tub. Even on a drizzly evening, it was great to sit in. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Bowness-on-Windermere is a lovely town and well worth a visit. Also head towards the woodland walk on the holiday park and maybe spot the deer.

Lodge was immaculately clean, very spacious, kitchen had every utensil you would ever need. Outside area was very pleasant with two seating areas. The hot tub was very secluded with screening on all sides. We did not use any of the park facilities but did use Choices Health Club which again had excellent facilities. The position of the lodge in the park was in a very quiet area which was what we were looking for. Very close to all amenities that the Lake District has to offer. We will return to Bosuns Lodge. Very clean and some lovely added touches, like sweets in the kids room and nespresso capsules. Everything you could want in the lodge. We ate in every night as the facilities were so good we didn't want to leave the lodge. and the hot tub was a nice welcome after some long walks. There were walks straight out from the lodge so you didn't need to use the car and Brockhole, a 10 mins walk down the road was lovely with plenty of things to do for the children and an information centre. However you can print the walks off before you go and then you don't have to pay for them. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this lodge and will be looking again for next year. Lovely clean new lodge with all the amenities you need - dishwasher, good showers with good water flow, nice bath, THE comfiest beds we have slept in for a while, TV's in all rooms, DVD player, stock of games and DVDs and books and of course the hot tub. Had an issue with hot tub not working first night on arrival but called customer service and their rep came out within minutes. Sadly couldn't be fixed BUT they did get the hot tub repairman out by 10am on the saturday and was fixed in 30 mins so excellent customer service after that disappointment. TV then went on the blink so we were really unlucky but agian came and replaced the TV within 30 mins to at least get us a TV that worked. All the utensils you need, lots of useful things left by other guests and owners in case you forget things (tea bags, condiments, foil, sandwich bags etc). Seperate fridge and freezer made things easy, typical lodge gas oven just need to learn its quirks! Once hot tub was working then in lovely quiet corner and got sun throughout the day but not overlooked so very relaxing. Great place, recommended! What did you enjoy most about your stay? This property is part of the Lake District Lodge Holidays collection.
From the moment you arrive in the Lake District there is a huge choice of activities and things to see as you take in Britain’s latest World Heritage Site – it’s the only National Park to be recognised for such status.

The property

Bosun’s is a delightful lodge on White Cross Bay and just a short walk from the marina and lake where you can enjoy watching the boats bobbing around, or perhaps the sunset over the fells.

A spacious lodge sleeping four people and room for infant in travel cot if needed, complete with gated, private decking and a bubbling hot tub.

What a lovely spot to completely relax and unwind after a day exploring the Lakes.

Indoors you have a stylish open plan living and kitchen area, so you can all be together, planning the day ahead or reflecting on your adventures.

With two bedrooms and two bathrooms there's plenty of space for everyone.

In a glorious setting by the lake, White Cross Bay sits on the shores of Lake Windermere with views all around to the spectacular fells.

Bosun's lodge is a short walk from the waterside where you can head down to the jetties, breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the views and watch the boats on the marina.

On the Park itself, there is a bar and restaurant with outdoor seating area, picnic area and children’ play zone.

Note: Some facilities on the park are subject to extra cost such as use of the pool, gym, entertainment, bar and restaurant.

500 yards up the main A591 is Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, with a great way to spend a day with gardens, house, café, restaurant, walks, boats, adventure playground and Tree Top Trek: there’s lots to do!

You’re also just two miles from bustling Windermere village with shops, cafes and pubs, and three miles from Bowness boat landings, where the elegant cruisers come in and you can hop on a boat trip.

Bowness is a cosmopolitan village with award-winning restaurants and pubs and quirky shops, a cinema and the ever- popular World of Beatrix Potter attraction.

Three miles in the other direction, head to Ambleside, another bustling town with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and of course, fabulous walks in every direction.
