  • "Nice property, great location."

I would have rated higher but we had issues with the central heating which wasnt working from day 1, kept on failing and requiring reset. Heating engineer could only attend to rectify 4 days later after we had left, so we were lucky it was a fairly mild week or it could have been much worse. Only other issue was with the front gate which jams into the stone wall and can be akward to open so requires some maintenance.

  • "We had a brilliant stay at Burn House."

The house is beautiful with plenty of room for the two families and dogs. Everything was to a high standards, plenty of towels kitchen equipment and the washing machine was a great help too. Emily was very attentive with any concerns that I had and was rectified immediately. Location was brilliant, short walk into Windermere with plenty of bar’s restaurants and shops. We will definitely be booking and recommending to our friends and family.

  • "Access through French door needs to improved."

Heating should not be on timer. There should be clear instructions for underfloor heating( none at all) Front gate requires maintenance as it jams in damp weather. We were flooded twice in the kitchen. Plumbing should be better maintained as there was evidence of previous flooding.

  • "Burn House is in a brilliant position close to the main shops and restaurants and a short walk to the Lake."

With the size of the property it is likely there would be 2 groups so parking was an issue with it being busy and parkingfor just 1 car. There was a damp smell in the kitchen. The lower ground floor could have done with an extra clean, presumably that's where people keep their dog ( we did) I think the cream choice of rug is perhaps a bad idea! Also, some owners had clearly allowed them on the beds upstairs, not the owners fault. The bathrooms were clean with good showers and plenty of hot water, the property is very warm! We spent our time on the lower ground floor because of the dog but the living room on the ground floor looked beautiful. We had to bring seats in from the kitchen when we were all in but not an issue. Overall we had a lovely stay, thankyou.

  • "The property is lovely and where it’s situation is great ."

We have been twice now but each time we weren’t given any starter wood which we were told we would and also I think they need to keep the maintenance better on the property as the window wouldn’t shut upstairs and also the fridge seal around the door was broken . Lovely place though

  • "The house was great, location was perfect."

The only grumble I have is that it is a 5pm check in. This is very late and does not let you enjoy the house if staying for 1 night only. I would hate to think what parking would be like in the winter with the dark nights setting in a 4pm. Is there any reason it has to be 5pm? maybe hire more cleaners!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are so glad you enjoyed staying at Burn house and following your feedback we have changed the check in time to 4pm. Property Owner

  • "Burn House was ideally situated for our needs."

Shops a few minutes walk away and the very nice little park over the road for walking the dogs. All the bedrooms were very comfortable and the showers powerful, a mirror in the stand alone bathroom would have been appreciated. We were a party of six adults + two dogs and as the weather was amazing we used the lower ground sitting room by the kitchen with the french windows on to the patio all the time we were in the house. The main problem with this was the seating, two of us having to sit on kitchen chairs, so not very relaxing. Also the facilities listed on the website stated patio furniture but nothing was available. The patio itself was rather shabby with a large yellow trench cover, old bits of wood/paving, cardboard and weeds, such a shame as it could have been a very nice space for little effort. The hose was very useful for cleaning up after the dogs but could have been on a reel to make it all neater. There was also a lack of cleaning items such as a dustpan & brush, soft indoor broom, shower squeegees, surface spray etc. Having said all that we did have a wonderful holiday and enjoyed Burn House & the lakes very much.

Hi Sharon, thanks for your feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Burn House. There should be cleaning items situated in the utility room however will check if these have been removed by previous guests! There should also be a mirror in the main stand-alone bathroom and again we will check this hasn’t been damaged or moved. We will look into alternative seating for the downstairs and ensure the outside space is tidied in between changeovers. We hope you chose to stay at Burn House and return to the lakes again!
