But it also had a few issues the fridge freezer was so loud it could be heard from the bedroom it was constant whining noise. The tap was also dripping and we could see this was mentioned on a previous review. The main bedroom bed we felt like we had been bitten constantly when sleeping in this bed felt like fleas so we used the other room, but even now still feel all bitten.

Would be handy to have manuals on oven and washer etc for ease of use. Requested bed to be made into a king size twice and this never happened mattress on single bed very soft and squeaky needs replacing. Overall a lovely stay and would return however the park itself needs to do something about the sheep that run loose leaving mess all over they even got into dog field and left mess that my dog loves to eat she spent the whole holiday with a bad stomach!

  • "We are returning customers to this great park and lodge."

The lodge has everything you would need for a comfortable, relaxing stay and even has provision for your dog (towels/bowls). The hot tub was a god send as the weather was so warm, but even if the weather wasn't good, the hot tub is clean and a welcome additional feature. We did have an issue with the veranda gate not closing and our dog managed to push it open and take herself to the Haybarn pub for a pint (thank you much to the bar staff who kept her safe and returned her to us). The maintenance staff did repair this whilst we were there. There were also a dropping tap in the kitchen (reported to maintenance) and there was a couple of dirty towels in the bathroom on arrival (floor towel for the shower), but we had taken our own so it wasn't a big issue. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in this lodge and will look to book in the future.

Thank you for your comments, we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear of the issue with the gate, but we are glad that we were able to resolve the issue. We take all comments on board, and we will ask our Housekeeping Team to look into the issue with the towels. We hope to welcome you back. The Lake District Lodge Holidays Owner Relations Team. Had everything we could possibly need, and was extremely equipped! The heating in the twin bedroom was very temperamental, so we had to keep the bedroom door open to keep it temperate in there. We did notice, not that it affected us in anyway, but it may be worth looking at, that the patio door in the living area didn’t look very secure when closed and locked. The place however was great it smelled so nice and was very clean . Our room was great there was lots of storage and the bed and bedding was so comfy even my husband said it was and he is fussy . My 15 year old daughter had the other room I asked to put the beds together so it was a big king-size she was delighted and the shower room was brilliant with good storage wardrobe too. We booked this especially as it had a hot tub and wow it was amazing myself and my husband had never been in one and it was spotless clean . It was pouring down but was so warm and with the flashy lights you forget it's raining . The little additions of the dog leads poo bags etc was such a nice touch I was impressed. My husband is the cook in our family and he loved the kitchen so much storage pans etc and the oven was amazing we had full chicken roast on Sunday cooked so well sitting round the big table watching a bit of tv . My dog loved it too all the walks round about and being able to be safe on the decking . I could go on how amazing our stay was all day but the only problem we came across was the tv only free view my husband loves his tv we even bought out fire stick but no I ternet connection . We didn't come away to watch TV all day but after a long walk you should have the option to watch more than free view channels. I would defo come again we had a good time .Next time also I think I would book Asda delivery to the site as booths etc was so expensive. All in all great comfy quiet beautiful place loved it . Thank you will definitely come again

  • "We had a fantastic time at the lodge - it exceeded all our expectations!"

The facilities were superb and it truly felt like a home away from home, especially for our furry friends who appreciated the thoughtful addition of dog toys. It's the little things like this that made our stay extra special. However, we did encounter a couple of minor issues that we feel could be improved upon. Firstly, we had some trouble setting up the TV as there was no internet connection available. We were disappointed that we couldn't access Netflix, but this was a minor inconvenience and didn't detract from our overall enjoyment of the lodge. Secondly, we were a little disappointed to find several stains on the duvet cover and sheets when we removed the bed linen. Whilst we understand that accidents can happen, we would have appreciated if the stains had been dealt with prior to our arrival. Despite these minor issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the lodge to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable retreat. Thank you for your hospitality and for making our stay so memorable!

Thank you for your kind feedback and recommendation. Unfortunately the wi-fi is managed by the park and so we cannot rectify this problem. We have alerted the housekeeping team regarding the stains you have mentioned. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and the facilities provided. Property Owner

It is still nice but a bit worn round the edges and showing signs of wear. We had to complain that there were only two wine glasses, we had a leak under the unit which left us with a wet floor, there was a bees nest by the seating area which had to be removed and the power went off. Luckily it had happened before and we knew where the reset was outside. We did enjoy our stay but it’s honestly a bit expensive now and we shouldn’t have had all the above hassles.

It’s well planned, spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything from poop bags to a night light. We were a little apprehensive having seen a couple of the more recent reviews and whilst I agree there are some things that need addressing; the floor is dipped in parts (under the carpets) and needs looking at before it breaks completely, the vinyl coverings on the wardrobe doors are lifting slightly and there are a few other bits and bobs that just need some general maintenance. That said none of the ‘issues’ would have or did have any impact on your comfort or quality of stay. The lodge is lovely and that can’t be taken away, it’s a holiday home and wear and tear will happen. Overall we loved it and will come again.

  • "Having stayed here several times we were so excited to come back."

It has always been our favourite lodge and we were disappointed we missed out on availability last year and had to book an alternative however we have been left disappointed this time. The lodge is starting to look tired and there are 2 great big dips in the floor (one in the hall and one in the main bedroom). There was no welcome pack. 2 years ago the children received selection boxes and we were left biscuits and wine, nothing this year and no information booklet, which I was told had been removed due to covid but as everything else was still there, it was pointless really. The children were disappointed that the tree didn’t work ie it didn’t light up. I did report this and someone came to look at it but a few hours later it was broken again and never worked the entire stay. The blankets left on the couch clearly hadn’t been washed as they stunk of dogs. There was a blanket in the second room wardrobe too the same. We know it’s a dog friendly lodge but we’ve never had this before. There were only coasters on the table in a lodge for 4 and only 3 big plates. There were no robes and slippers in the bathroom as pictured in the listing. The water dispenser in the fridge was broken (missing the inside tube) . The remote buttons weren’t working properly. We couldn’t change sound or turn channel down, only up on most occasions. The children found this most annoying. The speaker bar is broken so had to have volume low or put up with the echo it created. One day we tried one of the lodge games kerplunk to find it was all broken and had been taped together in many places. We were told there was a site WiFi but we could only every occasionally access the bar one and sometimes another lodge’s. It wasn’t strong enough to be able to sign in to Netflix or to stream anything. We went to choices health club but they had issues with the boiler so the pool was 35 degrees which was far too hot for a swim. We were disappointed to find the pub had closed for the season when we visited on 2nd January. Nobody had informed us of this and all the signage just stated the Christmas new year openings and no mention of closing. Sadly after 8 years of booking with Lake District lodge holidays, we will not be returning next year . The prices are insane and I have no confidence in the standard of accommodation after issues with cleanliness last year and now feeling disappointed this year with what really was our happy place.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear you did not fully enjoy your stay in Elder Lodge this time. Noting your comments on the floor and issues with some of the equipment, this will be passed to our maintenance team who will look into these. We are sorry you had problems with the Christmas tree lights, we will advise the owner of this and advise they may need to look into replacing these. Noting the cleaning issues, these have been reported to our Head Housekeeper who will speak with the cleaner. These comments are most unusual for Elder Lodge and it will be monitored more closely from now on. We are sorry to hear you were unable to use Choices Health Club to its maximum and the opening times of The Haybarn, unfortunately this is outside of our control and we are not responsible for the availability of these facilities. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced during your stay, we take all feedback very seriously and we will act on everything you have said. Our prices are constantly under review and we would be more than happy to help locate you another stay for New Year 2022. Naturally there are increases in prices year on year and since your booking was processed in 2020, there has been two pricing increases since then. • "The lodge is amazing, especially for dog owners and had lots of toy goodies for my dog, Lola, to enjoy, as well as lovely pictures of the owners labradors who are gorgeous!"

! Unfortunately it didn’t have everything listed on the welcome email and I had to buy some poo bags and brought my own treats as the jar was pretty empty but I’m sure Lola didn’t mind. Very useful to have doggy bowls and towels as I’ve forgotten to take ours away with us before. I had to buy some poo bags so left them there for the owner/ next person to use, unfortunately no treats left to leave as Lola ate all ours. The park is beautiful and has lots of stunning views from all angles, as well as a lovely pub to sit and enjoy a drink or food overlooking the park and surrounding hills and the lodge was relaxing and private enough to enjoy feeling like your own little oasis. The lodge doesn’t have dedicated WiFi and no way of watching Netflix or prime, even via our mobiles, but it does have a move database with a selection of family friendly movies on to enjoy. The only downside we had was being without water for almost 8 hours on the Sunday from around 9am. We use these long weekends as relaxing time as a couple so only go off the park for short periods of time and spend most of our time on the patio, movie watching or in the hot tub. Not having water meant we couldn’t wash, which in turn meant we couldn’t use the hot tub either as you have to wash before/ after. This coupled with losing basic amenities like being able to flush the toilet all day spoiled our time relaxing. We only found out about the water issue when I rang to report it and was told to view social media for updates. No further communication or updates were given to me personally. The social media updates all had lovely apologies from the park and they offered drinking water (again only advised on Facebook, nothing locally) that we had to arrange collect ourselves but when paying over £1000 it’s not what you expect. As the cost had already doubled from what we’ve paid annually over the last 7 years we’ve been visiting, it meant we lost enjoyment of one of the two full days we had there, which was a shame and is definitely no reflection on the lodge, more Sykes Cottages and the parks management of the issue. Disappointing that even after arriving home we’ve not had any contact regarding this issue.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear of how much you enjoyed Elder Lodge. The owners always like to make sure the dogs feel as much at home as the owners do and they like to leave some welcome treats for them. We are sorry to hear you were effected by the burst water pipe on Limefitt Park. I'm afraid this was something completely outside of our control, however, we understand how frustrating this must have been. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused. • "Elder Lodge is a lovely, well maintained property with excellent amenities and stunning views."

The service from LDLH was very good, including when there was a power outage affecting our lodge, which they dealt with almost immediately. Our only issue with the whole stay was the poor service at The Haybarn (onsite pub and restaurant) and the distinct lack of stock in the on site shop. The opening times of The Haybarn seemed to be limited to 6 hours per day (3pm to 9pm), with no lunchtime service which we found odd during half term. We had to figure this out for ourselves as the times weren’t clearly advertised anywhere. Whilst the food was very nice, the service times were abysmal - we waited well over an hour (sometimes closer to 2 hours) for food each time we visited. The tables were never fully occupied during our visits, so this can only mean that they were understaffed, which again seems really poor planning for half term. In addition, the communication about wait times was virtually non existent - only once did the app we ordered through inform us of a wait. The staff were very pleasant but it was obvious they were run off their feet and very stressed. The shop seemed to sell out of all essentials whilst we were there, which again seems poor planning on the part of the park. If I was an owner I’d be disappointed that the already basic on site services weren’t up to standard for guests staying w/c 31 May 2021. I’d love to visit again, however the extortionate prices for 2022 (almost double what we paid this year) coupled with concerns about the service on site would make me think twice at this stage. As a side note, I think it would have been nice to have some kind of welcome/info pack in the lodge, with basic information about the site and local area. This has been the norm in other lodges we have stayed in throughout the UK and I think guests would appreciate it.

Spacious and very well furnished. On the Monday I had to call the emergency phone number for lake district lodge holidays because there was no hot water. They sent someone out with 30 mins, for which he said we need a heating engineer. Heating engineer was there within 40 mins. New part to the boiler fixed a couple of hours later, all good. Lake district lodge holidays were excellent and the people who were sent out to us. Can't fault them and have booked 3 more times with them in other lodges. Bad luck the boiler broke down the why I gave GOOD referring to condition of lodge otherwise it would of been excellent. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Mrs Davinia GomesJan 2019

  • "Upon arrival the lodge looks beautiful and the inside looks lovely and cosy."

We noticed excessive dust on the blinds in the bedroom quickly. This is an issue for my personally as I suffer with chronic asthma, so I wasn't too happy to be staying in a bedroom with so much dust so close to where I'd be sleeping. Also a lot of light bulbs were not working. A lot of the lights above the kitchen cabinets were out, with only 1 or of 5 working? The hot tub cover is broken too, which makes it difficult to pull off and put back on. I ended up cutting my hand quite badly on this. The safety balls to keep the metal bars in place are missing, which means the metal bar slips out of place. Overall I did enjoy my stay here. I would just expect closer attention to detail and a thorough clean of the lodge. My doggies enjoyed their stay; the area was lovely for walks. The hot tub was lovely once inside. In summary and in no particular order, The beds were comfortable, the walk in wardrobes, utility room etc gave a lot of additional space for luggage so it didn't feel cluttered, the hot tub is always nice, the views are stunning, the decor was well thought out, the kitchen was well stocked, the hard drive of films provided was useful, the pub just up from the lodge was convenient, the jacuzzi bath and bathrobes was a nice touch etc. It rained a lot during our stay so the quality of the lodge really contributed to the quality of our holiday. Even though im 32 years old there is a lot of places in the UK I've not seen and I did plan on booking in another part of the country for next year but when we we returned from this holiday I thought why go anywhere else and booked again straight away. • "Was stunned by the interior of the lodge and thank you for making it very doggy friendly like home."

However, we became very concerned on the safety of our belongings. In no fault of the lodge owners fault but the park. The use of customer service was rare, however on arrival as explained on the email, the keys would be locked and we were provided a number for the key safe, we found the key jammed into the front door of the lodge. There we also 2 days where we found our gate open and front door open and lights on when we got back from our all day adventures. We contacted the site and they explained that the only people whom would access the lodge are the hot tub guy which is fair enough as i would like it to be checked myself, but he explained that they wouldn't go into the lodge. The second day before leaving i got my other half to double check after i have locked up. Again everything was open. This problem was never solved. The first day our hot tub did not work so we couldn't enjoy time outside looking at the beautiful stars in the clear sky relaxing. Again they couldn't resolve it as we had to wait hours before it got warm and rules of the park is that we couldn't use it after 10pm which is understandable. The lodge itself was very convenient and everything was easily accessable and had everything to cook with like home. As stated kitchen rolls and toilet rolls would be provided, however wasn't. Again not an issue as i came with supplies. Will be staying again as it was a lovely and pleasant. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The lodge was truly dog friendly and we were all impressed. The owner Shirley is obviously a dog lover. It has a warm tap outside and multiple dog bowls as well as dog treats upon arrival. It has a well stocked kitchen and everyone enjoyed the hot tub. We couldn't figure out all the electronic gadgets but this didn't stop us having a good time. When I say it had almost everything, the only thing we didn't have was cell phone coverage but thank goodness for Wi-Fi! We will be coming again for sure. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Dog friendly and hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? The Mexican restaurant Pedro's was amazing.

  • "Absolutely fantastic break in the Lakes."

This lodge had everything you could ever want. We have stayed in Lodges before and they were not half as well equipped as this one. They really had everything, even de-icer and screen wash which was welcome in December. The welcome pack was a lovely extra. What did you enjoy most about your stay? • "We walked into the lodge and were bowled over by the quality and size of the place."

Each room was lovely and well equipped. It had everything you could possibly need, cleaning stuff, dog bowls and beds, poo bags etc. The utility room was very handy complete with washer/dryer and again LOTS of cupboard space. The bedrooms were more than adequate. Both are en suite. The large T V. in the lounge has a sound bar ( something I have always wanted). Plenty of DVDS to keep you entertained. Lots of board games too which make for good fun. The decking area is really good with nice comfy furniture nice to laze some time away after a long day. The Hot Tub was awesome too. Nice to relax soaking in it having a nice wine. Unbreakable glasses of course. The only criticism i can offer is to have large bath towels, for the larger person and a tea cosy. I'm NOT complaining far from it. The vacuum cleaner needs a servicing. We would definitely recommend the Elder Lodge to anyone, which we have already. It's a home from home. We didn't want to leave. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The comfort at the lodge, also the superb walks What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? • "Having stayed in several lodges over the years I have to say what a surprise we had when we got to Elder Lodge."

Having paid quite a lot less than other places were asking we certainly weren't expecting what we got in the least. We were taken aback with how much care and attention had been put into making sure that you have a lovely stay. The lodge was quite obviously well looked after, extremely clean and so welcoming even down to milk in the fridge for a nice cup of tea on arrival. I would say the lodge is owned and used frequently by dog lovers as the is extremely well supplied with everything you could possibly need for your dog as well as yourself, that said the place was so clean you could not tell dogs had been staying at all. As for the park itself 10/10 lovely staff and again so well looked after. We had such a lovely week in and around the Lakes I'm sure we will be heading back at some point soon and will defiantly be heading back to Elder Lodge. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Couldn't say that any one thing stood out above any other. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Boat trip around Lake Windermere

    Mr Phil BrownJul 2017

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Elder Lodge."

The Lodge is very well furnished with everything that one would need to stay there. We enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of the location. We even managed on our last day to use the tub in the verandah. We would have liked to use it more but we were always out visiting the many beautiful spots in the Lake District. We would like to point out that the soap dispenser in the shower was missing and could not find any pegs when we did some washing. We would also like to suggest that the appliances manuals be left on the dinning table with the Limefitt Holiday Park information folder. We had a small problem with the washing machine which would have easily been resolved if we had the manual handy. We had to ask for a technician to show us how to open the machine. To the credit of the company, he arrived in less than an hour. Later on we managed to find the manual which was found amidst the travel brochures. We would also like to take this occasion to thank the staff at the office in Windermere for helping us to print our boarding passes for our return to Malta. Thanks. What did you enjoy most about your stay? As I have already said the comfort provided by staying at Elder Lodge and the beautiful surroundings of the complex What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? We particularly enjoyed the day when we visited lake Ullswater and its surroundings
