I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in a quiet or walking holiday. There is a good bus service for anyone wishing to visit Windermere or Bowness

  • "Tale of two half’s with this lovely lodge."

Arrived at 4pm but lodge had not been cleaned however after a phone call an emergency cleaner came out promptly. We as a family thought the two twin bedrooms were extremely small and one in particular you could only get between the beds sideways. The wardrobe in the third bedroom was full of ironing board hoover etc so could not put clothes in. We also thought one shower between what could have been 6 people is not enough. We would also choose a non dog friendly lodge next time as the smell of dog is evident. Having said this the living space of the lodge is lovely and having nice weather we used the veranda a lot with patio doors open all of the time! We also used the pass for Choices health club which was fabulous! We love White Cross Bay as a base to explore with easy access to various places and activities.

Thank you for your honest feedback. As an owner it's disappointing to hear that the lodge smells 'doggy' and difficult to keep control of pets and owners when the lodge is being let out for the summer. You expect guests to look after the property the way you would yourself, however, I am up at the lodge myself this weekend and will make sure that all the carpets are properly washed and cleaned to eliminate this problem. However I'd say the kitchen needs a deep clean. The fridge had a foul smell & the oven/microwave/splash back needed a good clean. We didn't use the kitchen for these reasons. However I'd say it's still good value for money.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the location. We are sorry to hear that the cleanliness issue that you experienced. We will pass on your comments to the relevant teams. The Lake District Lodge Holidays Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Lovely lodge, would stay again, in a great location, site pretty quiet but enough for what we needed, food was nice on site too, we used the swimming pass for the health club down the road which was cheaper than on site if not got as much time to use facilities as out and about mostly so this was handy."

Lodge catered for most of your needs, would be nice if left a few more cleaning products under sink, bin bags, wash up liquid etc and maybe tea, coffee, sugar ( I used to do this in my holiday home) only criticism is cleaners need to do bit more was lots of spiders in daughters bedroom and this freaked her out she wouldn’t sleep in there after saw them, a quick check of this would be good but overall happy with our stay and we would return here, very dog friendly site too, we didn’t have too much problem with WiFi either only on tv wouldn’t work but this dosent bother us as don’t go on holiday to watch Netflix etc lol normal channels were fine, overall a lovely stay and would recommend

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at the lodge. I apologise that you didn't have any cleaning products and bin liners as these should have been left for your arrival! I will pass on your comments to the cleaner regarding the cobwebs/spiders as this should have been checked too. Property Owner

  • "Prior to arrival I received an email stating they could not connect the tv and to take a fire stick as a back up, we had already set off and didn’t want to turn back."

However, when we got there a tv Ariel guy turned up and installed a new tv Ariel for us and got the tv up and running, excellent service. Caravan on arrival was perfect, so clean and homely, had everything we needed for our stay. There was 6 adults went on holiday and although we all managed and had a comfortable sleep the smallest bedroom was extremely small and tight, only being able to walk sideways down the gap of the beds due to the small gap between. Perhaps for a holiday of 6 adults a larger third bedroom would have been ideal. But we did all manage and all had a lovely sleep and had plenty of space for our clothes etc. Living room and kitchen area was beautiful, really homely, so comfortable and perfect for us for our stay. The only complaint I would say I had was that on the first day we got there, we had been there an hour or so, we noticed the bathroom door handle was broken, the lock was broke and would periodically lock you in the bathroom. I reported this and the maintenance guy come out and said he would order a new handle and come back the day after and not to use the lock in the mean time. We weren’t using the lock but it would still lock us in from time and time and we had to shout for someone to open it from the outside. In the end we started leaving the living room door closed when people went for a shower toilet etc so we could leave the bathroom door open to not get stuck in. Not ideal when there was 6 adults on holiday, especially if someone wanted to be in there bedroom and had to walk past the bathroom door. We left the key in the key safe as instructed by the maintenance man every single time we went out and no one came to replace the handle in the 4 days we were there. Site itself is brilliant, food was lovely in the boathouse bar, was entertainment on every night. Bar staff were lovely and friendly. On site shop had all your amenities if you forgot something or ran out of anything, it did close early on a night but there is a spar less then half a mile along the main road, a little dark to walk along as no street lights, but with a torch it is fine. Site is located close to both ambleside and bowness, we got a mini bus taxi down for 6 of us and only cost £11.50 to bowness which reception booked for us. Taxi arrived within minutes, perfect service. Overall a brilliant resort, a lovely lodge, I would absolutely recommend and will most definitely be back.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologise for the delayed response regarding the bathroom handle/lock. This has now been completely replaced and shouldn't cause any further problems. I'm glad that you had a lovely stay despite this upset. Pam (owner} Property Owner

  • "Fiendside Lodge is of a very high standard, clean and equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing break, located within walking distant of both lake Windermere and the parks shopping/restaurant facilities and only 3 miles to either Windermere or Ambleside for site seeing."

In all honesty, we had a very relaxing break, they only issue that I had is there is NO internet connection at all... Not able to use, Google, Alexia, WhatsApp, Netflix, Prime (on smart the TV) or any other streaming service. Contacted the park reception and they stated they would put in a complaint and come back tom (nothing!!). Also contacted the owner via Lake District Lodging asking for their private password (as had 3No Pony Meadow 2 networks) and got a post it note stating to contact the park as they provide the free wi-fi (basically another fob off!!). If you are not bothered about having any internet then it is not an issue, but if you do, then I suggest that you try and get the owners private network password before arriving as you are paying a hell of a lot of money to stay there. It my seem rather petty to some, but it did spoil our stay not being able to play music and if felt that both the park reception and lodge owner just fobbed us off and where not interested. Had we had internet then my review would have been 10/10.

Only complain we have is that we had no Wifi from Monday to the Friday. We had our young daughter with us and was disapointed about that. Did go to reception but nothing was done, otherwise no complains at all.

Thank you for taking the time to provide valued feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that you found the property to be so comfortable. Wi-Fi is provided by the park and, as such, is not something we have any control over. They are aware of the issues encountered by guests and are looking at ways of improving this service.
