  • "Ok but hot tub was not clean, sticks, leaves and dirt."

freezer unplugged so water everywhere needed to be cleaned. King size bed, the slats were broken/bits missing so collapses Not enough light on steps, elderly or children would struggle.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry you had these problems when you arrived at the property, unfortunately the freezer switch is in a place where it is easy to switch off in error. This has now had a casing placed over it in order to prevent further occurrences. Lake District Lodge Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "Where to start ?"

Would I want to stay here again ? Absolutely. Will I stay here again ? Sadly no Looking at previous reviews I feel I need to update you all. Location of White Cross Bay was perfect for us. Less than 5 minute drive to Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside. Keswick was just over half an hour. About an hour and 15 minutes to Gretna Green and Blackpool. As I said before perfect location. Location of the lodge on the site was also perfect , we had stayed in another lodge on the site in July and had taken our dog down to swim in the lake everyday and looked to book one of the lodges that had great views of the lake. After returning home after our stay in July we looked for a lodge down near the lake . Lakeshore Lodge looked fantastic with fantastic views of the lake and mountains so we paid £1600 for a week starting 1st of September. This was £700 more than we could have had the same lodge we stayed in July , also starting 1st of September . But the views and the hot tub you got with Lakeshore Lodge we felt were worth paying the extra for. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised that the Lodge looked to have completely new decking or it was jet washed cleaned really really well. It was so so clean and lovely to sit outside everyday on the decking looking at the wonderful views. Inside the Lodge? Previous reviews stated not a lot of storage for food , this is the case in most of lodges I have stayed in , so you manage somehow , it was fine putting food that didn’t need refrigerated on the BIG worktop. The lodge had plenty of coat hangers in both wardrobes in the double rooms. There was also hooks for coats near the front door. Hooks for wet towels in the bathroom. The sliding doors worked ok and were lovely to have them open , especially the week we had last week (glorious weather). Looks like the owners have listened to previous reviews and changed or added to make things better Yes it’s a bit tight in the bedrooms to get dressed but most lodges are like this. Just get dressed in bathrooms . Yes tight to park the car , but you get used to coming in and out ? Lodge was very clean , immaculate? No , some issues with cobwebs on the seats on patio but it only takes minutes to clean. Hot tub was serviced everyday and was perfect and easily accessible for my 80 year old father in law. Although building work was taking place on the 2 lodges next door with diggers , dumpers and drills making noise all day (unlucky on our part as the work needs to get done at some point) we really really enjoyed our stay. Was it worth the £1600 we paid ? No not for the week we stayed due to the building work but the owners can’t be responsible for work being done on other lodges. So after everything I have wrote above , the reason I wouldn’t stay again ? The mattress in the main bedroom was horrendous. My wife and I tossed and turned all night due to how uncomfortable the mattress was. I slept on the couch on 2 occasions and tried the bunk bed twice which was a lot better but little bit small for me. It was a shame as I know some people like soft , some like hard. Maybe try a thicker medium mattress to maybe suit all. Does anyone really have an old fashioned metal spring mattress these days ? Shame really because if the mattress was changed I would re book today to go again this year. I would re book for next year as everything we need and want in a lodge and location is here in the Lakeshore Lodge apart from a good nights sleep

  • "The triple bi folding doors do not work!"

! Upon arrival on 1/5/23 I reported the fact that there was no key for the bi-folding doors, after several conversations I was told maintenance would visit the following day - this didn’t happen. I was later informed that the part on order to fix the doors was arriving on Friday 5/5/23 (the day we were leaving). Reading the reviews from summer 2022, it seems there was already an issue but yet still not fixed! Very disappointing when you have lovely weather, a lake view and a dog and the doors are unusable! Other issues to mention is the parking space is very tight to manoeuvre in & out of and definitely not for 2 cars as advertised. The decking is on need of attention, and there is a chip on the glass balastrade that needs replacing as it’s very sharp. Great location on site, but the communication from Sykes/Lake District lodge holidays was both disappointing & frustrating.

Thank you for your comments. We will ask our Maintenance teams to ensure that the issue that you mention are rectified. Property Owner

  • "To say that we were disappointed with this property is an understatement."

It is advertised as 5 star luxury and it is in reality very far from it. The property is overpriced (£2500 for the week) and the facilities provided are inadequate at best. I will try to remember all the issues we found below: The main living room/in general: The photos provided on the website make the property look more spacious than it actually is. We didn't use the dining table and chairs as there was no room to get around it if it was pulled out. The dining table needs re-polishing as it is very tired and worn. The curtains in the lounge have mould on the back of them and so does the blind in the main en-suite bedroom (I didn't check the other bedrooms) but we noticed this whilst sitting outside on the patio and when in the hot tub outside the bedroom window. The whole property needs a thorough, deep clean both inside and out, there were cobwebs everywhere inside and spiders that had been swatted and just left on the ceiling (not cleaned off!!). The bi-fold doors are a lovely feature but they are not working properly. We opened them twice and both times they came off the track - so we struggled to close them again, so we didn't try to open them after that. In the kitchen: The cutlery tray is dirty. We had to wash everything before we used it in the kitchen as things had been put away dirty. The hob was grimy and greasy - we gave that a good clean before we used it. There is no space for dry food - only the fridge and freezer for food storage. We had to put things on the counter tops - not ideal. The cupboards are very high up and difficult to access. The bin is useless - need a bigger one. The dishwasher doesn't clean the crockery - had to wash it again when it came out. The washer/dryer takes an age to do one cycle and the dryer doesn't dry the clothes. In the main en-suite bedroom/bathroom: The shower head is broken - have to balance it to hold it up so you can have a shower under it. The bathroom needs a good clean - the bath panel and shower screen especially. There is no towel rail or any hooks to hang wet towels up - only the radiator which is so high up I couldn't reach it! The wardrobe only had THREE clothes hangers - is this a joke? Unbelievable. The bed/mattress is sunken in the middle - needs replacing. The carpet is dirty. The bedclothes have seen better days and the blanket that is on the bottom of the bed needs throwing away. The shades on the bedside lamps also need throwing away - I would be embarrassed to have those on display. Very little room to get around the bed. In the second double bedroom: Only TWO clothes hangers!! Carpet is dirty. Very little room to get around the bed. I'm told the bed was very uncomfortable. In the third bedroom/ bunk beds: Nowhere to put any clothes - not even a drawer unit. My daughter had to live out of her suitcase for the whole week. Bed/mattress of the bottom bunk very uncomfortable. (She didn't try the top bunk). She did however have some over door hooks in this room - I would recommend that you put these in all bedrooms and bathrooms. The shower room: No towel rail or hooks, again just the radiator - but this one could be reached my most average height people. Other than that there were no problems in this room. The passage way between the bedrooms did have some hooks which was good for coats. However, could do with a coat hook/stand for wet coats and boots near the front door as there is nowhere for wet things. Outside/patio area: The patio needs either jet-washing and re-staining or ripping up and replacing. The two lounger chairs are worn and have green mould and rust all over them - they need a good clean or replacing. The 4 seater table and chairs on the main patio area needs a good clean - the seat pads are stained and worn, the table top is scratched and sags in the middle. The chairs are covered in spider webs. The hot tub lid has seen better days and should be replaced. When we arrived and lifted the lid of the hot tub the smell of chlorine was overwhelming - it shouldn't smell like this. I have a hot tub so I know how much chlorine is needed. When the hot tub people came to check it on the Sunday I asked them to test it before putting any more chlorine in which they did and said that it didn't need anymore in. This happened on a second visit - which shows that there was far too much chlorine in the hot tub to begin with. The parasol at the back of the patio is unusable as it is filthy and covered in green mould - something else that needs a good clean or throwing away. We didn't use it as no-one wanted to touch it. Likewise, the bench and tables and chairs at the back of the patio next to the hot tub are also unusable as they are filthy and covered in cobwebs, leaves, acorns etc. The patio needs a good sweep as there are dog hairs everywhere. The glass fence is lovely, but needs a good clean and it is quite scratched in places. The two gates need tightening up as they hang down and have to be lifted up to fasten them. To finish, I would like to say that I don't take any pleasure in complaining and never do usually complain, but I was so disappointed with this lodge that I felt I had to write it all down. I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before I had booked this lodge as many of them point out some of the same problems that I have highlighted above and yet they have still not been addressed. This lodge has the potential to be fantastic but it is currently unloved and neglected and I feel that the owners are not investing any time or money into the upkeep of it. I feel like I have been completely ripped off by the amount that was charged for this lodge. I don't go on holiday to clean - but had to in this case. I found it unbelievable when I received an email from Sykes telling me to leave the place in the same way as found it - I'm afraid we left it a lot cleaner than that! Some of the issues that I have pointed out above wouldn't take a lot of time or money to fix - so there really is no excuse for the state of this lodge. The one great thing about this lodge is the view from the patio - this is absolutely fantastic - but still, that alone is not enough for the price being charged.

Thank you for your feedback and we are very sorry to hear of these issues. Had we been advised of these on arrival or during your stay would have been happy arrange the cleaner to return and our maintenance team to attend. We will be investigating these issues you have raised fully and will update our response shortly. Property Owner

On arrival it was absolutely spotless couldn’t fault the cleanliness, I always take cleaning products but I didn’t need to use them. The location was perfect, the hot tub was clean and the kitchen had enough pots and pans to cook our Christmas lunch. The only downside of the whole lodge I would say was the master bedroom bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress could do with an ungrade and the sheet had a rip in it. She has similar reservations about the dish washer saying she had to wash pots in the sink before we left because she didn’t want to leave pots for the next guests in the way they came out of the dishwasher. We reported issue with the fridge door seemed to be coming off at the hinge and the call out engineer was quick to come out and fix it. The settees have seen better days and there’s no coffee tables to stand a cup. The seals on the bathroom’P’ shaped shower look dirty but I think they are just old and discoloured with use. When we were packing to leave we found our wash bags in the cupboard under the sink soaking wet because the is a leak under the sink (something we said not have to time to report) all in all a great location with a fantastic view over the lake in serious need of a full refurb. This review is intended as a constructive review as we really like White Cross having stayed there 4 or 5 times. It looks like the lodge is very well worn and fixture and furniture old. The TVs are old and don’t have HDMI ports.

Having lost my 34 year old son Jordan exactly 12 months earlier, we needed to find somewhere peaceful and comfortable and this lodge could not have been better. We've always loved the Lake District and Jordan did also - it's like coming home. The Lakeshore Lodge was clean, spacious, comfortable and being situated just a few yards from the Lake edge, meant we woke to the most spectactular views each morning, especially as the (fortunately) bright sunny days we experienced, allowed us to clearly see the snow covered mountain tops in the distance. The Lodge was well equipped and the hot tub a definite winner. During our stay, we encountered 2 problems - the barier keycode, we were issued with, didn't work and on our final evening we experienced a powercut blackout. On both occasions though, a call to the site's maintenance number solved these issues promptly. Wonderful stay and would definitely rebook, What did you enjoy most about your stay? Lodge was clean and nice and modern. Temperature was just right and heated up quickly on the first really cold weekend of the year! Hot tub was lovely and the view amazing. Beds were so comfy as were the sofas, patio furniture was just right. Just a couple of things that havent stopped us booking again but might help others: The top outside step had an extra piece of wood that was a bit of a trip hazard when coming down the steps.... most of the group mentioned this...wonder if it can be changed somehow? We couldn't recall if the lodge had it's own wifi or not so would be helpful if it specified this in the folder...it gave general info about it but even though we asked at site reception, we are still none the wiser if there was a lodge wifi....it said if there was the password would be on the router so we assume as we couldn't locate a router the lodge doesn't have it's own wifi. • "We had 2 families staying in lakeshore lodge and the lodge was amazing."

It had everything we needed including the fabulous views of the lake and the added bonus of a hot tub. Our families had a lovely stay, the beds were comfortable and waking up to the lake view was just breathtaking. Our only problem was with the fridge as there were no shelves in it but that can easily be resolved. The en-suite bathroom was lovely and spacious too. I would most definitely recommend this lodge to anyone. What did you enjoy most about your stay? • "The cabin was fantastic with good facilities."

It was in a very nice location. The garden furniture could of been wiped down before our stay as it was full of cob webs and spiders therefore we was unable to sit outside. There was a few cob webs within the cabin above the curtains other than these it was excellent. When you pay alot of money for a cabin you expect it to be prestine. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We just love the lake district What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? White moss walk into grasmere

  • "This Lodge is beautiful and located just 2 down from the waters edge."

It is a very tight parking space especially when in a large car like ours but we managed with a few trys .Stunning interior with lots if light from all the bi fold doors and windows that lead out on to a fantastic deck area. Wooden decking like we have at home needs a good jet wash as the mess spoilt the hot tub area and the lovely furniture was absolutely full of cobwebs and bits of trees so a tiny bit more attention needed there to be 5 star. Plenty kitchen utensils and oven wear but some needed a little extra wash as they must have been missed.no biggie as it has a dishwasher and all cleaning products are provided . We had a great stay so relaxing for us and our 10 year old. Hot tub one of the best. All jets worked , clean, hot and secluded . Great rooms and bathrooms and lovely fresh towels. Can 't wait to stay again. Just as a mention a set if tables in front room or just one coffee table would help as when you sit down you have no where to put a drink unless you put on breakfast bar which is high up. Brilliant Lodge thanks x What did you enjoy most about your stay? The size of the lodge and the view What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? • "I really can't fault the lodge itself and its view of the lake is lovely."

The decking area is very spacious and the lodge is in a fairly private spot, which was lucky as my toddler decided to run around the secure decking area naked one afternoon, having the time of her life. Apologies to the cleaners, who may have had a few small hand prints to clean off the windows! The hot tub was great, definitely the highlight. Good number of chairs. The beds were all comfy and the bathroom and en-suite very clean and in good condition. I had to ring Lake District Lodge Holidays customer service one day to ask their advice on my elderly mum who had injured her knee, I was very impressed with their knowledgeable response, pointing us in the direction of the nearest health centre where she was seen by a doctor later that morning. They also came to replace the parasol which was broken, within about an hour of me letting them know. Top marks there. The White Cross Bay Park (run by Park Dean resorts) itself is very pretty, but I would avoid eating at the Club House as we did on our first night, it was like a giant kid's party with the kids DJ's voice blaring out on speakers throughout the restaurant making it too loud to talk. There was no getting away from it and the waitress said it would be going on all evening. It even put us off ever using the pool as this was next door with diners able to see into the pool area. Food was slow coming and not great too, but there are a range of great places to eat in nearby Bowness on Windermere, which is well worth a visit. We found this to be much nicer than Ambleside which is further away. So, as relaxing base to explore the lakes, with great accommodation, fantastic views and great customer service on hand from the Lake District Lodge Holidays team, this is definitely one to recommend. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The hot tub and views What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Visit to Bowness on Windermere for food, shopping, and where several boat rides launch from. Brockhole is great for the kids (and big kids), but you need to be able-bodied and reasonably fit to get about and make the most of it.

  • "From booking our stay at Lakeshore Lodge I knew it was going to be pretty special and when we arrived I could not believe how close we were to the lake and to be able to see the beyond perfect views from the cabin."

The cabin itself was clean, spacious and modern and was definitley a 5 star log cabin. The park was lovely and reception was very helpful when arriving at the park, you could easily walk from the cabin to the reception/bar which was handy. We will definitely be booking again in the future and even though we properly had the best weather possible for February we could imagine sitting on the decking in summer and taking in the spectacular views. • "We stayed as a family of 6 including 2 teenage girls and this was our 2nd visit to whitecross bay park which we just love."

The lodge was kept to a very high standard and was modern inside and out. The bedrooms were sufficient for a short stay away and have to say we all thought beds were comfortable and the shower was amazing. The girls aged 15 slept in the bunk beds which to be honest they did not mind. No storage in that room but they didn't bother. Hot tub was great and very well maintained and also checked a couple of times during our stay. The lodge has a beautiful view of the lake which we loved looking at day to day. The park itself is very well kept and the restaurant was just a few minutes walk from our lodge. What can we say about that restaurant.. as well as it being the school holidays and absolutely mobbed, the staff were great so friendly and nothing was a bother for them. We ate there every night and the food was delicious, not one of us had a complaint about what we ate and every night we all tried something different. Compliments to the chef! Very high standard of food served. Only small niggle is dogs can't get in but didn't spoil anything for us. Will definitely be back next year. What did you enjoy most about your stay? • "Lake District Lodge Holidays have been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish!"

The booking process, information provided etc have all been faultless, wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. Lakeshore Lodge itself was ideal for 4 adults (think it would be a bit of a squeeze at full capacity), but the quality of the lodge and it's scenic location was superb. The location of the lodge park is ideal for exploring the Windermere area, with Bowness being just a short drive away and having some lovely shops, pubs etc. to explore. We were pretty lucky with the weather, but the lodge was comfortable enough that it wouldn't have been the end of the world if we had needed to spend a bit of time indoors. Not quite 'sitting out' temperatures, but that deck would be a dream in the warmer/drier months; however the hot tub along with a nice glass of something was a pleasure whatever the weather! The hot tub (along with the rest of the facilities) were all very well maintained, there were at least 2 hot tub monitoring visits during our 4 night break. Overall, would highly recommend. We used the pool on the site a few times but the first time we went there was problems with boiler and it was too cold for our grandson. This was sorted for the rest of our stay.. Ideal location for visiting Bowness Ambleside, Keswick. We Also had a day in Grizedale Wood, and we're lucky enough that our stay. Lodge views great, lodge itself very nice indeed although did think bedrooms were a little cosy. All amenities appeared to be there down to even a bottle opener, bin bag, washing up liquid, bleach in both bathrooms and anti bacterial liquid shop in one bathroom. Superb veranda with furniture and umbrella. Private hot tub serviced every day. Nice area for dogs called Base Camp. Was very quiet whilst we were there, could have heard a pin drop sometimes I reckon. Weather good albeit little showery here and there but suited us being a little cooler for loads of walking. • "Gorgeous cabin."

Loved the jacuzzi. Spotless. Modern and very comfortable. Great communication up to arriving. If I had anything not so negative to say but certainly a pointer, there is an on site bar and restaurant for general holiday makers and a members/owners bar. I believe if you have booked direct with the private member's then you should have access to the private member's bar. We are a middle aged couple had no children with us and went for a quiet romantic weekend. The on site restaurant is ok if you want bingo and a beefeater menu but not if you require something a bit nicer. The general restaurant wasn't that busy but the wait to be served at the bar was so long. We gave up and went to Pedro's which is a mile walk but we'll worth it for fantastic tapas food. Portions are immense so order with that in mind and fab value (Not a complaint!) however, we found it highly amusing that we had every requirement needed in the cabin, until we needed a cork screw! My husband searched for a neighbor to borrow one. It was the only thing I didn't bring thinking we would have one. That was funny. • "We have just stayed in lakeside lodge 4 adults two children aged 3 and 4 and two boxer dogs!"

Absolutely lovely spacious modern lodge with beautiful views of the lake! Tv in every room which helped when the girls wanted to get up early and watch kids tv in bed haha! The tv in the master room may i suggest bring lower down onto a bracket in the corner above the locked cupboard as you can't even see the screen lay down! We booked purely for a chill out as i am 7 months pregnant so wasnt up to going on the long walks we previously did last time! Hot tub was amazing and the kids loved it too! Only small complaint was we only had half a roll of toilet roll in the main bathroom and ran out after a day...i understand you have to buy your own stuff but surely toilet roll could be included in the price you pay! But im not one to rant on about that it didn't spoil our stay and we are itching to book again and return next year! 5 star! Thank you! What did you enjoy most about your stay? • "This lodge is located in a quiet area with one of the best views on site from the lounge & the outer deck."

You are paying a premium for the location rather than the lodge itself, you can get larger lodges on site for less however we wanted the view ideally. No real bad points - that said we have a large 4x4 and parking is tight, you need to reverse into the space in order to make the return to exit ( This is no bad thing, and you can get 2 normal size cars on the parking area if required ). No mention is made of this on the overview - just to re-iterate though this didn't bother me. On arrival we were greeted with an eye watering smell of air fresheners, again this wasn't a problem as we put all 4 of them outside, which calmed things down a lot. Again this was not a problem, and we placed them all back inside upon checkout ( Apologies, but I have an allergy to anything like that ). The only actual complaint I would have made if I was that way inclined, was that the hot tub was serviced during our stay - the pair of engineers ( if you can call then that, made no attempt to advise us they were there - and when my wife is breast feeding I don't expect men happily helping themselves to a window view unannounced. Without being too graphic, anything could have been occurring. To add insult to injury, they emptied the hot tub and disappeared unannounced........................ So had we planned a dip we would have been coming up short on expectations ! 5 Hours later they returned unannounced to fill the hot tub..... slowly ) This is not a complaint about the lodge itself, as the hot tub is great and let that be clear here. The Lakeland Spa company ought to learn some manners, common courtesy & customer service would not go amiss. The name Lakeshore Lodge is a little misrepresentative in that the lodge is not on the lakeshore, though the photos would have you believe it is. Its not far from, however there are 2 further lodges to the left that are sited closer to the shore than this one. This is not a complaint, I am merely advising anyone considering this lodge not to be disappointed etc. I have been visiting the site for 35 years and I knew this prior, however anybody that is new to the site may not fully appreciate the plan and may base their assumptions on photos alone. All things considered, we had a fabulous break and the amenities in the lodge were as expected in comparison to other lodges we have stayed in. Would we stay in this lodge again ? Probably ( Arguably the best to rent on site ). What did you enjoy most about your stay? Views What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? The only reservations I had was when arrived several issues settee broke snapped on one side the outside gates both locks broken and no safety clips on the hot tub cover . We had a young toddler who we were nervous wrecks until clips were fixed and secured . There were cigarette buts all around the hot tub area and generally needed a clean due to rubbish leaves etc . • "Had a lovely stay in the lodge with a gorgeous view."

4 adults, baby and 2 dogs visited Monday to Friday and had a lovely stay. The hot tub was gorgeous and we used it every day. Only snag was we hired a travel cot for our baby but the only space to put it up in the bedroom blocked the en suite so you couldn't use it. We took our moses basket in the end so just ended up using that instead. We didn't use any of the on site facilities as we took the dogs and you are not allowed to leave them unattended in the lodge. Overall we would definitely recommend the lodge. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Location What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Walk from Rydal to Grasmere. Had a lovely meal in Teedies in Grasmere.

  • "Stayed with family and baby for a long weekend in August."

Lodge was excellent with good facilities. Hot tub was perfect. Lovely view across the lake with only one cabin further forward next door. Although we didn't use it, the DVD built into the tv was not working but a replacement dvd player was set up before we arrived. The maintanence man had to be called when the key safe would not open so we could obtain the door key after a trip out. He arrived after our call within 10 minutes and duly opened the key safe to retrieve the key so we could enter. Excellent service in an emergency. Kitchen facilities were excellent although no baking tray was available. I am led to believe this is being addressed. There is plenty of bedroom wardrobe storage in the master and 2nd bedroom. 3rd bedroom has bunk beds. Walking space is tight in the 2nd bedroom but the bed is comfortable. We would stay again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Close proximity to Bowness and Ambleside. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Hill Top to see Beatrix Potters home

    Mr David MclaughlinAug 2016

  • "Before booking we were sceptical on the quality and location of the lodge especially as it was dog friendly."

The lodge and location was amazing, what a wonderful start to our stay. Having 2 pugs and not wanting to board them we wanted a holiday for the entire family, Windermere and Bownesss was a delight and extremely dog friendly. All shops/cafes/bars allowed dogs within with several areas having dog bowls outside. We have already booked for Xmas and next summer and can't wait for a wonderful time away. The lodge was modern and well appointed with a very welcome hot tub. The weather could have been better but as we were well prepared it did not spoil the holiday. Lots in the surrounding areas and our dog loved the walks. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Location of the lodge and the entire site. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Travel across the Passes as the scenery is excellent.

  • "The lodge itself was lovely, lovely location, right on the water."

Lovely inside and the decking area was nice. Received a phone call the week before to wish us a nice break etc which was nice. The lady who rang me was really nice and answered some questions I had. Made us feel like we were welcome that she did this. However, the first impression after arriving onsite was beyond abysmal. Check in was 3pm, we arrived at 2.25 and we parked in the car park outside of reception. I was greeted by a man on the door who asked if could help me (all very nice), he looked at my paper work and told to me to just go to main reception and they would sort me out. I stood at reception for 5 or so minutes waiting to then be sent to the end of the building to check in somewhere else. To then be sent all the way to check in where I went the first time. The lady who was in front of me was complaining about her lake view lodge that did not have a lake view so waited until someone else behind the counter came to help me. This point it was about 2.45. I was then told to come back at 3pm which was when I could check in!!! I asked for the barrier code and said I would just walk down to the water so my little boy could stretch his legs and see the ducks (we had been in a car for 4 hours). To be told she wouldn't even allow us to do that. To be so enforceable of the rules over 15 minutes is pathetic, given she had already sent me around the building on a wild good chase to 'check in' This poor welcome from the staff onsite got my back up before the holiday even started. Rest of the holiday was fab, great location, nice and clean park. Beds in .lodge were nice and comfy and had al the things we have at home like kitchen wear, utensils etc Would come back but would book through someone other than the park due to nightmare we had on arrival. What did you enjoy most about your stay? the location of the lodge, perfect views and lovely decking area (only needed a bbq to be perfect) What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? • "We stayed here for our honeymoon break the day after getting married on Sunday1st May."

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, the location was beautiful the lodge was clean and well furbished, for two adults and a 10 month old it was ideal. Hot Tub was a great touch and being to the back of the lodge gave that sense of privacy. Would go back without a second thought, a bigger welcome pack maybe better, giving idea and maybe a map with key areas which are recommended to visit. I arranged for flowers and chocolates and bottle of champagne on arrival for my other half, the flowers we had to leave behind as they where still blossoming, couldn't have asked for more and really appreciate it the time taken. thanks Anthony What did you enjoy most about your stay? the view was amazing, the park was great overall good. We love everything about this lodge and having a hot tub is a bonus. If I wanted to be picky the kitchen could be better stocked with pots to cook in but it's perfectly functional as it is. • "Had a lovely break in a fantastic location."

Views from balcony are what the lakes are about. The only negative i would say is that there is too much seating in the living part and makes the space feel smaller than it is. As for comments on the parking we took 2 large cars and had no problems parking them at side of lodge. Hot tub was a real plus and main reason along with the views we booked this lodge and it didn't disappoint even in the rain. What did you enjoy most about your stay? view What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Ambleside good day out walking up water falls, shopping and a bit of crazy golf

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? I would recommend using local buses to get around instead of car.

    Mrs Janice HowardSep 2015

  • "This lodge is perfect for a relaxing few days' away."

The view from the sitting room is just perfect. The lodge has all mod cons and the beds are the most comfortable we've ever known on a holiday. The hot tub is divine, we used it every day. Only one or two gripes - the parking is much too tight and the gate fasteners very difficult to open/close. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The view and the hot tub. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? The drive to Keswick is breathtakingly beautiful - and the town itself is lovely.

    Ms Wendy HarrisonSep 2015

  • "We stayed at the Lakeshore lodge for 3 nights (4 adults and 2 children)."

The lodge was fantastic, spotlessly clean and in a fantastic location. The beds were comfortable, showers had good water pressure and everything we needed was pretty much provided for. We all loved the hot tub and being able to sit out on the decking overlooking the marina was fantastic. In terms of the facilities on site, we never used the pool etc whilst on our stay, but have on previous visits and never had any issues. We did however go to the boathouse bar and restaurant and wished we hadn't. The staff, whilst not rude, where not particularly welcoming and clearly didn't want to be there. And the food was terrible, cheap frozen food just thrown into a deep fat fryer, none of the party were happy and couldn't wait to leave. This said do not let the facilities on site put you off the lodge, there are plenty of other places to go for food and drink and the lodge is excellent, we will definitely all be back. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The views and hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Lots of walks and enjoyable days out in the surrounding areas.

    Mrs Alexa ShorrockAug 2015

Views over the lake are spectacular. Lodge is immaculately presented and very clean. • "We stayed here for 4 nights in lakeshore lodge which has the best views of any lodge we have ever stayed at."

Very clean, modern, and with comfortable beds. We really enjoyed using the hot tub at the end of the day to chill out with a cocktail. The only very small negative was the car parking space between the two lodges was very tight to get into if you have a large car such as we did a large 4x4. I would highly recommend a visit to this lodge if coming to white cross bay. What did you enjoy most about your stay? the views and hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? a visit to grassmere village

  • "Having seen the virtual tour of the lodge we knew what to expect."

Everything was in pristine condition with the hot tub being our favourite feature. To provide even greater comfort for guests, a couple of side tables would be handy to place drinks when sitting on the sofa. A torch would also be useful. I would strongly recommend making mention of the access to the lodge as we had 2 elderly guests in our party with restricted mobility and they struggled terribly to climb the 8 steep stairs which we hadn't expected. As the parking was also extremely tight for 2 large cars, this was also a downside for us as again it made access in and out difficult. We always pay more to stay in high quality accommodation and we were impressed by the standard and condition of the furniture - it really is a lovely lodge in a superb spot located so conveniently between Bowness and Ambleside . The rooms were somewhat smaller than other places we have stayed in but this isn't a deal breaker. Providing guests do not have mobility issues, I would recommend this lodge for those who want to be in the heart of the lakes within easy reach of attractions. The clubhouse was also very nice with well priced drinks and lovely food. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The view of the lake and the hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Coniston and The Black Bull pub as the food is fantastic

  • "We booked for a Monday to Friday break (wish we'd booked a full week) and were very impressed with the lodge."

It was exactly as stated on the web site, very clean with very good facilities both inside, and outside on the large balcony. The lodge is situated for a perfect view over the lake, and as we had lovely weather we were able to enjoy looking at this while sitting out eating breakfast on a morning. As well as this, the site itself is beautiful and we even managed to come face to face with a deer on a walk through the woods! We also took a small dinghy with us and enjoyed a couple of hours out on the lake. We would definately return here and with a grandchild on the way there will probably be an extra person to enjoy this wonderful place! What did you enjoy most about your stay? All of it. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? We really enjoyed a day out in Grassmere.

  • "Lodge was beautiful with everything you could possibly need, cooking accessories etc."

Lovely location with fantastic views of lake & not on a busy walk way so more private than others we have stayed in. Only downside was that the hot tub had obviously just been refilled so was not at temperature until following day & the parasol was broken , unable to fold away so could have been a hinderance if we had young children. Sure that will be sorted ASAP though. The boat house is good with swimming pool well managed & reception staff very helpful. Food is good too. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Peace & quiet What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Brockhole , castle, lots & lots of walks

  • "Peaceful and tranquil."

We all had a wonderful time and didn't want to leave. The lodge was equipped with everything we needed and was very luxurious with quality fittings. Hot tub was excellent and we were surprised that it was hot and ready to go when we arrived. A young deer stood and watched my husband and son through the fence on the way up to the clubhouse. Magical. We hope to return very soon. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Beautiful location What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Food in the Boat House was very nice and reasonably priced.

    Mrs Elizabeth MasonMay 2014

  • "Lovely log cabin but it needed a deeper clean, there was dog hairs in the bedding and on the sofa, the back of the cushions were covered as was the rug, we did have to hoover up thoroughly ourselves because I am allergic to animal hair and it would've caused an allergic reaction."

The patio area was lovely as was the hot tub but the glass panels around were filthy with green moss or whatever it was. The boiler broke and needed re setting at least twice a day, leaving no hot water, once unfortunately while I was in the shower. The electric went off once while tea was cooking. Luckily my husband knew what to do to fix it. Apart from these negative points the kids loved it, we had a great week. What did you enjoy most about your stay? hot tub What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? duckys farm and the zoo about half hour ride away is a must with kids

most caravans, lodges, cottages all seem to think just because you have dogs you enjoy living in bad and dirty conditions for your holidays. I thought that the specification of the lodge was excellent and they had thought of everything to make our stay one to remember. Relaxing in the hot tub after a day out was just what we needed. Thoroughly enjoyed it and we will certainly let our friends know and we will go back again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? LOOKING AT THE STUNNING VIEW IN A HOME FROM HOME ENVIRONMENT What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? TAKE A TRIP FROM BOWNESS TO LAKESIDE, WALK ROUND TO THE SWAN AT NEWBY BRIDGE AND HAVE LUNCH

    Mr A WorthApr 2014

  • "The combination of the quality White Cross Bay site, the property itself and it's superb lakeside location put this lodge in the absolute top 5% of holiday homes I have ever seen or experienced."

If you don't mind up to 45 minutes walk you are ideally placed to walk to Ambleside, Windermere & Bowness so once the car is parked it doesn't really need to go anywhere which really makes the break more special. This is an immaculately presented holiday loge, completely as described and in fact it exceeds all expectations with leather furniture, marble worktops and beatiful decor throughout, I would love to have stayed longer and would defintiely stay again.] The hot tub was brilliant and got lots of use even when it was cool due to the weather conditions - the only thing missing was a BBQ which is a very small issue. The White Cross Bay facilities are excellent with spacious club house offering snacks with a separate restaurant and beer garden, whilst not best site shop i've ever seen (which is probably Holgates) it has all the essentials one could need. Overall this is a brilliant location for a short or long Lake District break. What did you enjoy most about your stay? All of it Can't Leave out One Thing What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Picturesque walks along the road along Windermere into Ambleside

    Colin EvansApr 2014

  • "The lodge and location was absolutely fab, the lodge had everything to make it home from home all the decoration and essentials bedding towels were top spec would recommend this particular lodge to anyone, the sunset over the lake on an evening was lovely to watch, the hot tub was heavenly after a long day out walking."

All in all the best of the best we think. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The Location of the lodge was fab What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Easedale Tarn for the views and Go Ape Grizedale Forest for the more adventurous

    Mr Shane PattisonApr 2014

  • "We were only able to stay 3 days, I was taken by ambulance on the Wednesday night to Lancaster hospital!"

Turned out to be lovely location, wrong timing for us. Ambulance couldn't get onto park during the night! I was having breathing problems and my partner had to leave me to go up and open the gate. Maybe a issue you could discuss with the reception. But fantastic comfortable lodge. Would love to return maybe. Regards A Robinson What did you enjoy most about your stay? The lodge was fantastic What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Hot tube.

The lodge is very clean and modern and we loved the modern decor ,it had everything we needed down to towels and mini toiletries , even coffee , tea, sugar sachets were left out so we could enjoy a cuppa when we arrived would recommend a meal in the sun hotel not too far from the lodge at troutbeck bridge the lamb shanks were amazing and friendly owners would recommend a stay in the lodge , we will return What did you enjoy most about your stay?
