  • "Great little cottage, set out really well!"

Clean and tidy and a great base for us! Felt at home straight away and the owners were great with all communications! Would definitely stay here again.

  • "Fabulous weekend and engagement celebration for four at this lovely cottage."

We travelled from Shropshire during storm Babet so had to leave earlier than planned to ensure a steady and safe drive up but aware that the cottage wasn’t accessible until 4pm. Contacted the owner to ask if it was possible to gain entry sooner rather than us having to hang around in atrocious weather and Richard was so helpful and understanding and called us back to say the property was ready at 2pm!! We were unpacked and all tucked up with a hot chocolate by 4pm. The property was so cosy, heating was on when we arrived and there was complimentary tea and coffee. Plenty of hot water and the place was clean and extremely well equipped, which given I was cooking a 3 course celebratory meal that weekend, was a bonus! Parking permit provided for parking at the property (or close by) Beds were comfortable so we enjoyed a good nights sleep. Wi-Fi signal excellent as was TV entertainment choice. Books to read and selection of DVDs. But the best thing has to be the proximity of the cottage to Windermere - literally on the doorstep. 1 min walk into the village with a fantastic choice of shops, pubs, bars and restaurants yet the cottage itself was quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle- perfect! Easy access to Ambleside and Bowness and the lake itself just a few mins drive either way. Yes we can say we had an absolutely wonderful stay in beautiful surroundings in a lovely little cottage and we are pleased to announce that the lady did say “yes”!!

We felt "at home" as soon as we arrived. Just a very short stroll from the main street with all its facilities, but noise from being central was virtually non existent. We hope we have the privilege of visiting Lamb Cottage again in the not too distant future.

The cottage was clean and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with everything we needed as well as washing up liquid/dishwasher tablets/cloths etc. Plenty of towels supplied in the bathroom. Small garden area but well kept with comfortable bistro table and chairs. Excellent location just 2 minutes walk from Windermere shopping/restaurants/pubs, plus a nice little park for walking the dog. Easy parking very close to the cottage. Will definitely rebook this cottage on our next visit to Windermere.

Even though you are really close to the highstreet it’s still nice and quiet. The house was perfect for us as a couple and our dog. The only challenge is parking, you are given a permit but as Windermere is so busy you will probably have to park a bit of a way from we’re you are staying. This wouldn’t stop us going back however. Lovely place

It would have helped to have more indication of equipment provided beforehand eg. hairdryer, basic kitchen cupboard ingredients etc. Double bed in main room is quite small and not very comfortable. Most people would expect a king size these days I think.

  • "The cottage inside was exactly as described and perfectly fine but there are a few things that maybe need an update regarding the outside."

There is roadside parking with a permit provided but this is not in the street where the cottage actually is as the street outside is fully double yellow lines ... the nearest space we could find was three streets away as all houses in the vicinity have access to the same permit parking. Also there is a courtyard area but this is also a thoroughfare for two other houses and so it isn’t actually secure for the pooch as we expected.

  • "The property is ideally placed within Windermere center which warranted the price for 3 days stay."

The facilities are good but give the price paid i would have expected a little more effort to the house keeping/presentation. In particularly, the laundry was not appropriate, towels and bedding smelt fusty and unwashed which was a shame as this influences the perception on other elements of the property. The water pressure isn't the best but coupled with a very poor shower head that sprays water everywhere except where you want it was a shame. A simple low cost fix that could improve anyone's stay at the property. All that said, we enjoyed our stay.

  • "We were pleased with the cottage and especially its location in windermere."

The cottage was lovely and had all the equipment we needed for our stay. Cleanliness was ok These are a few factors which would make it much better: Bed wasnt that comfortable and the style of the bed unsuitable for tall people ars bars at bottom get in the way. The bed was very squeaky when you moved. 2 chipped glasses and a broken mug were in the kitchen cupboard. A sock from the previous peoples stay behind cushion on sofa. Dirty glass in main bedroom from previous peoples stay. Lighting is awful....very dark. But on the whole it was a nice place to stay.

  • "The cottage was in a very central location to the town centre."

A parking permit was supplied. The cottage appears clean on the surface, but closer inspection left a lot to be desired. A kitchen cupboard door was hanging off it’s hinges, leaving the cupboard unusable. This problem should have been addressed on cleaning and inspection before the arrival of guests. The back door was difficult to open and close and at some point, a thick layer of grease had been wiped onto the door edge in the hope of making it easier to close.

  • "Cottage was superb."

Nicely designed to be modern enough for people's needs without taking away the character of the cottage. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment and living room was comfortable and contained good supply of books and games. Find of the week was the Ordance Survey maps and up to date information leaflets in the kitchen unit which really helped us to plan days out. Cotrage was clean and well presented, 2 towels provided per person. Really enjoyed our week and would definitely look to book again as the location was central to Windermere and an easy walk to all shops, pubs and restaurants. Parking was never an issue as we always found a space.

  • "The location was excellent and cottage was well equipped."

However, the overall size of the main bedroom could easily support a 'king size' bed rather than the double bed provided. There was a strong smelling reed diffuser air freshner that was more of an irritant rather than a background neutraliser. We put it in the cupboard whilst we were in house. Apart from that we had a fantastic holiday.
